Welcome everyone!

Here, as ever, is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness created and lovingly managed by the wonderful @AthelstaneTheUnready

Hopefully you should find that you're already on the spreadsheet - but if not, just add your name to the bottom of the list. Don't try to insert it in the right alphabetical place - Athelstane will do that for you. And don't touch the blue cells or try to enter any other data or comments!

For those that are new, each week I'll start a new chat thread, on Monday, and we'll start off with recording our weight.

However

You don't have to use your weight to measure your progress - and you don't have to be on the spreadsheet if you don't want to be. Instead, take your measurements each week (bust/upper arms/waist/hips/thighs), or find an item of clothing that's just too tight/small right now, and keep trying it on each week.

The rules of Bootcamp are on the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet - but here's a quick summary of the rules for the first two weeks:

  1. Eat three meals a day
  2. Avoid processed foods
  3. Eat lots of fat
  4. Make sure you're eating vegetables and salad with your food
  5. Be careful about dairy, apart from butter which is unlimited
  6. You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water a day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nuts/seeds
10. No sugar/artificial sweeteners

Make sure you have a really good read of the spreadsheet for the full detail of the rules. Also, check out the tabs at the bottom - there's a huge amount of information that will really help you, especially if you're new to low carbing/Bootcamp.

There's also a thread here of FAQs which should be helpful.

Some thread etiquette

The thread will move really quickly - especially at the beginning.

But please take the time to read everyone's posts, rather than just plopping on with your own comments/thoughts/questions. It's very frustrating when someone comes on to the thread to ask a question that's been posed and answered already!

Don't lurk!

I know that not everyone is confident about posting - and also that there are a lot of posters who are regular Bootcampers, and who know other Bootcampers. Please don't think this is a cliquey thread. It couldn't be further from the truth!

Everyone's views and experiences are welcome and valid, so jump in and post.

Any questions, please just post. Or PM me. There's always someone here who can help - and if I or they can't, then we can always find someone who can!

Above all, very good luck to everyone.

I very much hope that by the time we come to the end of these ten weeks, that we really are (as a country) completely ready to leave Lockdown well behind.

Wishing everyone all the luck Flowers

Afternoon campers!

I will join the Free biwi resistance!!

Just had Greek yoghurt with cinnamon
D will be homemade burgers with oily salad and cheese.

Have drank lots of water this morning, more to go!!!

Have a great day y'all Grin

StuntNun · 12/04/2021 12:57

TheHoover it's fine to put fruits in your water so long as it's only for flavouring and you aren't eating them. In warm weather one or a combination of lemon, lime, strawberries and cucumber slices are all good flavourings. I also like to stick a fruit teabag in a 2-litre bottle of sparkling water in the fridge and will drink that all day. Taylor's Sour Cherry and Twinings Raspberry and Lemon are particular favourites. You don't need the expensive fancy infusion teabags at all - regular herbal teabags work fine. It only takes about 20 minutes to infuse the whole bottle and you can leave the teabag in to the bottle is finished. For some reason the fruit teabag-flavoured water tastes much nicer than the specialist low carb flavoured waters such as the Ugly or Dash brands.

Shocked at the BIWI suspension!

Love this first week of boot camp, everyone is so motivated!

Orcagirl · 12/04/2021 13:18

Hi all, new to boot camp Grin

Absolutely sick of myself and only able to fit in a few items of clothing so it’s time to get rid of the extra weight, I have around 2 stone to lose.

Meals today are, smoked salmon and eggs for breakfast, smoked salmon salad for lunch, and thai green curry for tea.

Where I’m going to struggle is no sweeteners in my cuppa Blush

Good luck everyone.

cheeseisthebest · 12/04/2021 13:24

BIWI suspended? Omg!
Yes please @newlook starting weight 10st 2.

pinkstinks · 12/04/2021 13:26

Morning - had a little cry after the scales but added to the spreadsheet so can’t run away and hide anymore.
Hopefully having some accountability will help x

JimmyJabs · 12/04/2021 13:37

I had a crayfish and avocado salad for lunch, with lots of oily dressing. I was trying to recreate the one from Pret - possibly not as successful, but tasty nonetheless.

Does anyone else have a knife that they are a bit frightened of? I have one of those Sabatier things that has a sharpener in the sheath, so every time I get it out it becomes more lethal. I sliced the corner of my thumb off with it a month or so ago, and the lack of resistance I encountered was both terrifying and slightly impressive. Since then, I've tended to avoid the knife, but I had to use it on the avocado just now and it cast an atmosphere of fear over my lunch 😁

PineappleSunglasses · 12/04/2021 13:41

Oh no @pinkstinks sorry to hear you're feeling rubbish! I had a similar moment back in October but honestly using the spreadsheet and the positivity from this group is so helpful.

I hope you feel better soon!

BIWI · 12/04/2021 13:50

I'm back!

Grin

Apologies for absence. This day of all days, when usually I post a whole load of drivel stuff.

Off to read all the posts now, so look out for a long reply later.

Thanks to @prettybird and @AthelstaneTheUnready and @StuntNun for stepping in.

Hello, I’m hoping to stick to this boot camp after signing up for the January one then not doing it.

B- scrambled eggs
L- chicken salad with Mayo
D- beef rendang from the fast 800 recipe book, I’ll have it with veg and everyone else will have rice.

2-3L of water

I’m feeling proud of myself so far as I was at the hairdressers this morning and had two cups of tea and I didn’t eat the biscuits that came with them. 😊

NotRightNowPlease · 12/04/2021 13:58

Hi,

I’m a long time lurker but think I need the accountability on here to really stick with it.

I’ve tried to add myself to the SSoF but no way of typing other than to comment comes up? Sorry to be a pain but could someone do it for me please. I’m 172lb this morning. Would like to eventually get to 9.7 but trying to be kind to myself and accept it will take some time.

Good luck everyone!

Did they lift your ban?!!
52andblue · 12/04/2021 14:08

@AthelstaneTheUnready
Could you add me to the spreadsheet please?
I am currently 170lbs/12.2st/78.kg
(there, if I type it three times I will magically commit to this, as I struggled last time mainly due to other stuff going on for me then)
Thank you so much x
and Yay for @BIWI being free / returned to us

B: 2 rashers bacon, 2 eggs fried in butter
L: coronation chicken on lettuce boats
D: corned beef, steamed green beans and broccoli
Plus LOTS of water and SLGS ? (shed loads of green stuff) ?

FusionChefGeoff · 12/04/2021 14:10

Wow hello everyone!!

I'm thrilled to be starting a further 2 lbs down (I think?) from end of last bootcamp as I didn't really break as I my started 1/2 way through.

Did have a couple of cheat days (fire pit s'mores and a mostly on plan Turkish takeaway but I decided to have some of the chips and then a bowl of ice cream!).

Welcome back to @BIWI can't believe you got banned!!!

@Smorgs first, your nickname was mine in school!! Second, croissants are my absolute obsessive craving / deprivation food at the moment so huge kudos to you don't think I could do that.

I am on the app so can't remember who mentioned bloating but mine is soooo much better on this WOE - there's still some culprits (which I'm trying to ignore as I love them and they are fairly central to my diet at the moment - aubergine and mushrooms I think Sad) but it never lasts that long and my general digestive system is sooooo much better.

However, I have begrudgingly admitted that I've now become pretty sensitive to gluten which obviously isn't generally an issue with BC - but the SLC products are off limits as I get horrible cramps.

So other than the GORGEOUS almond cheese muffins (NOT in the first 2 weeks though) is ther another bread type substitute recipe I could try?? I'm usually a pretty have a go cook and have access to a specialist food shop for any slightly off piste ingredients.

Rayna37 · 12/04/2021 14:20

JimmyJabs no knives sharp enough to inspire fear in my house but I recently bought a mandolin which I'm terrified of. I was given Gizzi Erskine's Restore book which is fab but she's far too keen on using it. Think it'll be good for homemade coleslaw though.

M0rT · 12/04/2021 14:26

I would like to join too please, spreadsheet will only let me comment also. Weight this morning was 166lbs.
I have joined and dropped out of the last few boot camps but determined that this one will stick.
B) scrambled eggs/homemade sausage patties
L) Natural yoghurt with cinnamon
D) Pork and veg stir fry with a dash of cream.
I wanted to ask if you have a recipe you think would suit do I send it to someone to check first?
I've used the kale & chorizo soup recipe a lot for lunches so wanted to pay back with the pork stir fry recipe.

devoncreamtea · 12/04/2021 14:34

Grin Jimmy’s lunch of lingering fear! Glad BIWI is free!
Came to add my meals for accountability:
B scrambled egg; half avo; kimchi.
L Spinach soup with glug of cream
D meatballs in a tomatoey sauce with cheese and tender stem broccoli

Tea and a decaf coffee with tbsp cream

Dreamqueen · 12/04/2021 14:36

Welcome back Biwi

Help I can't get onto the spreadsheet. It's telling me that access is denied, which may not be a bad thing as I've been too liberal with the gin since last BC and weight has crept up.

pinkpinkeverywhere · 12/04/2021 14:37

@Orcagirl and @pinkstinks I was just the same at the start of January, I had put on so much weight over lockdown and Christmas and realised when I (eventually) went back to work I'd have nothing to wear AND I hate the way I look, but since starting the last BC I've lost 26lbs! I'm starting to fit in my clothes and even my children said today I'm looking much slimmer. So just think in 10 weeks you could well have lost 2 stone and know that this WOE is sustainable.
I'm now hoping to be lighter than I was before I started WFH when I go back, so people just think I've lost a bit of weight, without knowing how much I put on in the first place!
I read a thread on here the other day about regrets of the last year and so many people said their regret was how much weight they'd put on. I realised that in December that would have been mine too, but now I've taken that first step, as spoken about before, and therefore I don't need to regret it because I'm doing something about it.

nowlook · 12/04/2021 14:41

Afternoon campers!

Just back from the pub. Was marvellous Grin

Starter: smoked salmon with citrus creme and endive salad
Main: Featherblade of beef with cavolo nero (and the mushrooms from DH and DC's ribeye).

A full 750ml glass bottle of sparkling water to myself. Hurray!

I've added your weight cheeseisthebest. But if you lose more than 2lbs this week you're going to have to give your weight in pounds :-)

Welcome back BIWI Grin. I hope it wasn't about the stuff where you can't be near a naked flame. I find the whole thing vair depressing, to be honest.

addler · 12/04/2021 14:43

Can I join? DP and I have done low carb last year and really enjoyed it, and lockdown/Christmas/Easter and having a new baby means we could really do with getting back on track.

I've requested access to the spreadsheet as it won't just show up for me

TheHoover · 12/04/2021 14:50

Pub already @nowlook? Chapeau!

Thanks @prettybird - excellent to know - the Lidl stuff sounds like a win win (cheap and on-plan plus I have a Lidl in walking distance)

Thanks for adding me @AthelstaneTheUnready
