We've reached the end of the Low Carb Bootcamp so how did you do overall? Add your weigh-in to the Spreadsheet and let us know your plans. Would you like to keep losing weight over the coming week and months? Are you thinking about giving weight maintenance a go? Have you considered introducing intermittent fasting? This thread will continue until the next Bootcamp starts so there will be plenty of support for you.

For treats Sophie, (other than wine!) I have snack pepperami, snack sized bags of pork scratchings. Tesco do wasabi seaweed thins. Intensely savoury hit.

prettybird · 29/04/2020 09:45

Creeps back in and hopes no one notices Blush

BrassicaBabe · 29/04/2020 10:16

Fighting the fuckits today. And I'm still in bed with my latop on my knee. SadI'm sure I'll pull it round.
AngryHaving to think about what everyone else might eat today. Sooooo over it. Default has been some kind of grilled or roasted meat with some kind of cabbage and a jacket potatoes. BORED.

Slight understated nod of the head in acknowledgment of pretty Smile

BrassicaBabe · 29/04/2020 10:17

Although venus. I have pork belly. I have rhubarb. Just not sure what to do with it Grin

SophieRay · 29/04/2020 10:20

I have never heard the term baker shame before Shag! What's that mean? She is really good at baking, but she enjoys it baking for other people not for herself and currently there is only me to eat it (and I am doing) if it wasn't in the house I wouldn't be eating it iyswim.

Thanks Brassica, I have pepperami for breakfast and I bought pork scratchings for the first time last week but really didn't like them (the dog was pleased about that!). I am considering going back on the red wine, I think that's probably way less carby than the non alcoholic lager - but I have been feeling better alcohol free this week so can't decide what to do for the best Confused

Aw sorry, I made it up. Just my weird sense of humour. It was meant to be a take on fat shaming or slut shaming—the idea being it was an attempt to tease you for “blaming” your daughter for forcing you to eat her lovely scones.

Never mind me. I’m nice, really. Wink

SophieRay · 29/04/2020 12:37

In that case I'm definitely baker shaming her!! Grin

ilovecherries · 29/04/2020 13:05

I’m 3 lbs down on my lockdown weight gain which is a relief as I had accidentally edged over my ‘will never see that number on the scale again’ number. I won’t lie, I felt sick last week when I saw it. Anyway, I’m now safely on the right side by 1lb so another 11lbs will see me back at my fighting weight.

venusandmars · 29/04/2020 15:33

I'm with you on the 'will never see that number again' I passed it in kg, so switched the scales to stones, and have passed another milestone - upward Sad and Angry at myself.

Does feeling depressed cause weight gain? I don't mean just in the food choices, does the biochemical part of depression alter your metabolism?

I'll try and grasp some of your will power cherries

blueglassandfreesias · 29/04/2020 15:34

Lovely to see you’re all here still.
I had a bit of a carb creep time and have been back on it for the past 3 days.
Feel much more mentally stable for it and not as bloated.
I did get a bit worried about cholesterol at one point with all this meat, cheese, cream, butter. Any reassuring words would be great fully received on that front.
I had my gallbladder removed last July and have had no gut issues until recently where my insides have been a bit gurgly and tender where my gallbladder once was.

venusandmars · 29/04/2020 15:37

BrassicaBabe my pork belly was from M&S so I just followed the instructions. The cabbage and rhubarb:
chopped onion or shallot, sweated in lots of butter. Add chopped celery, and chopped rhubarb (about 1 cup). When it starts to soften add finely sliced red cabbage (about 2 cups), stir for 5 minutes and add half a pint of chicken stock and a dessertspoon of apple cider vinegar. Cook for about 40 minutes until everything is soft and not too liquid.
It is even better cooled and reheated the following day with sliced ham.

BrassicaBabe · 29/04/2020 16:33

Thanks Venus. I'll give it a blast.

Based on my experience in January and Feb I'd definitely agree that stress stalls weight loss. Talk about a double whammy!!

BrassicaBabe · 29/04/2020 22:53

I have moved so little that I don't deserve ANY calorie deficit for the entire day. Today I eaten 80% pork scratchings and diet code. I've finished the day on left over doner kebab (LC that one) and gin. Winning?! 🤦🏻‍♀️

SophieRay · 30/04/2020 08:47

That's not too bad Brassica, could be a lot worse than that!

I swapped the lager and scone for red wine last night and another two pounds down this morning. Doing a doorstep drop for my parents later so going to take them the last two scones to get them out of the house and away from my lack of willpower.

venusandmars · 30/04/2020 09:20

My dh (who never cooks) decided to make rock cakes yesterday. I'm not tempted. I don't think even he is tempted Grin

I really feel I need to get on top on this continual weight gain, so I'm fasting till lunch time.

L - avocado salad
D - omelette with cheese and veg

venusandmars · 30/04/2020 09:26

My dh is working from home and has taken over my office (lots of noisy conference calls so that's the best place for him). I'm in the dining room (open plan to the kitchen) with not very much to do, pretty much all my work / contracts cancelled for the next 4-6 months. So I'm bored and anxious. I'm finding it hard to concentrate on what little work I do have to do and I find myself getting up and wandering into the kitchen... I open the fridge and have a wee look around to see if there's something I fancy. I open the cupboards and snack on biscuits, which for years I have not wanted at all. I long for a glass of wine, and often give in.

I know this woe suits me, I know it makes me feel better, and I know that the extra stone I've added has given me less spring in my step. So today, WILL be better, and every time I find myself wandering into the kitchen I am going to have another glass of water.

BrassicaBabe · 30/04/2020 09:52

Sad No answers venus but I think we all understand. Be a bit kind to yourself. Ok, none of us want to be removed from our houses by a fireman at the end of this, but some comfort eating/drinking isn't going to finish us off. Today is a new day. x

ilovecherries · 30/04/2020 10:01

i Know venus, what is that thing with the fridge door. I keep finding myself looking in without purpose or intention.

DietChic · 30/04/2020 10:02

I have STS - despite having half a bagel with peanut butter yesterday. DH was eating it’s melted, hot soft dripping amazingness next to me and I just snatched it and stuffed it in. My first bread since the 2nd week of January. Damn.

Anyway - I have soup and an omelette planned for today. Maybe (since I didn’t instantly gain 3lbs due to the bagel) it will lead to some loss AT LAST - I just want to be losing 1lb a week!

Twit · 30/04/2020 10:56

Hi all! I'm sorry, I haven't read the whole thread, but I hope you're all doing ok? I've put on 3lbs so I'm not very happy, but at least it's only 3lbs.
What weird time we're all in. How are you all coping?
I'm hanging around now hoping there might be a new bootcamp soon, to keep me on the straight and narrow, but obviously I totally understand if there isn't.
Take care all. Flowers

StuntNun · 30/04/2020 15:59

Plans are in development for a lockdown Bootcamp Twit so watch this space.

I bought salt and vinegar flavouring last week for DS1 to make crisps in the deep fat fryer so I'm going to attempt salt and vinegar kale crisps tonight. Grin

Well you say that ...

SophieRay · 30/04/2020 16:36

Kale crisps sound really nice stunt, please report back!!

BIWI · 30/04/2020 16:47

Hello @Twit!

I'm not quite sure what's going to happen with the next Bootcamp yet, because in the main I'm not really sure that a lot of people will be up for a 10-week long programme, where we can't necessarily get the foods that we want.

I'm considering doing a two week, 'short, sharp, shock' Leaving Lockdown - although obviously once we know more about when/how we're going to leave!

I have to confess that I'm finding it very difficult to stay motivated myself, and so trying to run something when my heart isn't in it, isn't a great idea.

But stay here, talk to us, and hopefully all will become clear soon Smile

TheClitterati · 30/04/2020 16:48

kale crisps are delicious - even DD eats them.

I am so up for Lockdown BC. I seem to have misplaced my spine when it comes to anything beyond brushing teeth & hair and a bit of work. It seems I am in desperate need of a community of sorts to function properly ATM.
