Week 7 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Girding our loins and getting a grip

Morning all

Having a bit of a snigger to myself, because autocorrect wanted me to tile the thread 'Girding our doings ...' Grin

Here's the spreadsheet

We only have four weeks left. I know! Doesn't time fly when you're having fun?!

There's been a bit of slippage going on, I notice - and whilst it's not all been of our own doing, sometimes it's about situations where we've reverted to 'learnt' behaviour or type.

So. Let's all pull our socks up! We have only four weeks left, but those weeks could make all the difference.

If you're worried about how the next few weeks are going to go, perhaps a return to Bootcamp rather than Bootcamp Light might help?

Whatever strategy you adopt, here's wishing us all very good luck

I've just got a food planning victory.

Invited to a family celebration dinner. Host is not a confident cook and is likely to make a pasta dish or baked potatoes. I've offered to cook. Host is delighted and we'll have:
seafood starter (prawn cocktail, smoked salmon, anchovies, mackerel pate, with salad);
then confit duck legs, celeriac remoulade, buttered spinach, broccoli, green beans;
followed by lemon posset;
finally, cheese

Re: above

No-one will notice that there are no carbs (although everyone else will have biscuits with their cheese).

Fab result! Star

And it all sounds really lovely. Can I come?!

Thanks @biwi and @nowlook 👍

@venusandmars sounds delish. Can you please tell me more about how you make lemon posset? It is like lemon curd? And is it low carb or is this wishful thinking and you'll sensibly be having the cheese course instead? Regardless, it sounds like a delicious dinner and far better than potatoes or pasta.

Thank you everyone for your help yesterday, pleased to report I've had a good day😊

venusandmars · 03/03/2019 23:18

@mimosa lemon posset is essentially lemon juice, cream and sugar. I use monkfruit instead of sugar. Will post the recipe

Reporting in ahead of time at 73.7kg - really pleased as this loss has coincided with a holiday, albeit self catering. It comes after a few weeks of 100g or 200g losses, and 1.5kg has finally wooshed off!!! I'm starting to see the difference in the mirror (7kg off this BC). I would love to be under 70 - I haven't been that weight for years (not since I moved in with my now DH ) but my first goal is sneaking into a normal BMI. I know it's a bit of a crap measurement but still!

Mimosa1 · 04/03/2019 07:37

Thanks @venusandmars - that does sound delicious and v low carb friendly

Siameasy · 04/03/2019 08:08

Ooh that is a victory venus. I can’t bring myself to serve junky carbs at buffets etc anymore. I must be brainwashed (in a good way) as I feel like I’m poisoning people if I do!

Forgot to weigh myself but I’m probably only losing every 2 weeks now because technically I’ve nothing to lose. Plus I had a lot of cheddar over the weekend and a small helping of hummus too so I feel that I have indulged a bit

KiteMarked · 04/03/2019 08:09

On the way back down again, huzzah! Will input my figures shortly, but have lost nearly a stone since the beginning of Jan. I'll take it.
