Week 7 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Girding our loins and getting a grip

BIWI · 25/02/2019 08:51

Morning all

Having a bit of a snigger to myself, because autocorrect wanted me to tile the thread 'Girding our doings ...' Grin

Here's the spreadsheet

We only have four weeks left. I know! Doesn't time fly when you're having fun?!

There's been a bit of slippage going on, I notice - and whilst it's not all been of our own doing, sometimes it's about situations where we've reverted to 'learnt' behaviour or type.

So. Let's all pull our socks up! We have only four weeks left, but those weeks could make all the difference.

If you're worried about how the next few weeks are going to go, perhaps a return to Bootcamp rather than Bootcamp Light might help?

Whatever strategy you adopt, here's wishing us all very good luck

Non scale victories.

Looser clothes, better skin, feeling better. Stuff like that.

Siameasy · 28/02/2019 18:07

Shag if your stir fry has a sauce you could make a coconut cream based one. I do add cashews to a stir fry but maybe not suitable for kids?

67chevvyimpala · 28/02/2019 18:11

Ah. Thank you!

Siameasy · 28/02/2019 18:14

Well done for avoiding donut MrsT. I recognise all the little addicts’ tricks too. So fascinating to watch people. I eye up what people have in their trolley 🙈

This is the longest I’ve ever gone without sugar (altho a few times a week I’m having a few berries).
Just made my daughter a blueberry smoothie, my God it’s so so sweet. Yet I know people who would add sugar to fruit “cos it’s not sweet enough”. Prob cos they’re using fat free dairy🤦🏻‍♂️

ShagMeRiggins · 28/02/2019 18:34

Thanks for stir fry tip, Siameasy. Our children are older so no issues with cashews either.

MrsTerryPratcett · 28/02/2019 18:59

Your trolley would have been a sight last week @Siameasy full of meat!

Siameasy · 28/02/2019 19:20

We got it all at CostCo MrsT😂feel sick now thinking of it all 🤢🤢it’s a proper meat fest there
It was so carb there. People going crazy for inappropriate carbs and back in the day I would’ve too

Doilooklikeatourist · 28/02/2019 19:40

Had a nice stir fry tonight , a little on the Carby side as I fancied a spicy sauce , so used some tomato juice ( and then read the side of the bottle .. oops )
Cabbage , spinach , courgettes , mushrooms and an onion ( between the 2 of us )in the stir fry very nice

Back on The ibuprofen today though as my injured foot is really stinging ( I’m on my feet all day , and self employed , so the “ rest “ advice is difficult to keep to ) so that might stall me

A glass of Sauvi B , and lots of sparkling water to wash it down
Watching the Junk Food Experiment , quite interesting ( was on last night )

AthelstaneTheUnready · 28/02/2019 20:43

Evening, bootcampers!

quick update on all my virtuous self-denial: no alcohol since Sunday now (go me!), and no cigarettes since yesterday Blush. Was supposed to give up the fags weeks ago, but failed badly. Trying again.

I had lost my illness bloat and inflamm. but have picked up ANOTHER jeffing bastarding bloody cold in the last few days and so am now back up a few lbs again. Up until last year I'd stopped smoking for 5 years and never had a sniffle - I HAVE to stop again, it is most definitely making me unwell.

On the food side I deserve a little BIWI Star Halo handed out though, as have been much more adventurous with slow cooking fatty cuts, piling the green veg high, and laying off the cheese.

67chevvyimpala · 28/02/2019 20:47

How do you guys cook lamb chops?

Doilooklikeatourist · 28/02/2019 20:49

Passes tissues

And moves away , whilst handing a ⭐️ @Athelstane

AthelstaneTheUnready · 28/02/2019 20:53

Thank you, DoIlooklike! Grin Sorry your toe's still giving you grief - try not to strain anything else by favouring it too much, iyswim.

67 it depends on how lazy I am - really lazy, just shoved on a baking tray (seasoned) and in the hot oven for 10 mins. Slightly less lazy - fried in butter.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 28/02/2019 20:54

What's the junk food experiment?

Doilooklikeatourist · 28/02/2019 21:00

Was on itv last night at 9
6 “ slebs” eat junk food and feel rough ( apart from Peter Andre who loved it )
Results were as expected , but quite interesting
3 out of the 6 had to leave , 2 for health reasons , one over worried about it
I enjoyed watching it

AthelstaneTheUnready · 28/02/2019 21:03
Confused

Why would you sign up to do that? Once more I thank my lucky stars I will never be a 'sleb' of any sort, and so never be tempted to accept the cash for this sort of bog weird stuff. Grin

Doilooklikeatourist · 28/02/2019 21:06

I know !
Tessa Sanderson looks bloody amazing , she had to leave ( and sensibly did )
But the Tory MP , madness

TowandaForever · 28/02/2019 21:12

@lurknolinger

Thankyou for the coconut milk recommendation.

I've looked it up on my supermarket and it only shows Amazon as selling it.

Is that where you get it from?

BIWI · 28/02/2019 22:08

I'll give you a Star @AthelstaneTheUnready, if you stop sneezing all over the thread!

67chevyimpala, I fry them in butter or coconut oil

67chevvyimpala · 01/03/2019 07:48

Right!

Off shopping!

MrsKoala · 01/03/2019 08:13

Morning all. I didn't see the junk food programme but might get it on catch up. Do you remember that one years ago where z listers had colonic irrigation on tv The sounds of Richard Blackwood still haunts my dreams Grin More fool me for watching!

I have woken this morning with 4, yes FOUR, coldsores. I get them when i'm run down but never to this extreme amount. The good news is I've lost 3lb and am sitting at dead on 12st.

We've got our summer holiday booked for May half term so I am aiming to be 7lb lighter and a lot more toned by then. I really need some stomach exercises to tighten up the skin as while my stomach is flat I have loose skin (from having 3 enormous babies in 4 years) which hangs over a bit. My children poke it and squash and I tell them that's where they used to live. I just wish it wasn't quite so stretched.

My arse and thighs are sturdy but quite solid, so I can live with that. But it's the texture of my belly that I hate. It wold be nice to wear a bikini and not be slf conscious of it.

nowlook · 01/03/2019 08:32

@MrsKoala

Well done on the 3lbs...bad news on the cold sores.

I feel your pain on the excess stomach skin. I had two ten pounders and although they both came out through the sunroof, everything is stretched and lined...and that's before we even get to the overhang.

Always looks a bit better with a tan, though Grin

ShagMeRiggins · 01/03/2019 08:36

Pub quiz successfully navigated; still alcohol free. Feeling good.

MrsKoala ouch to the cold sores. What do you do to treat them? As for your holiday, regardless of what you stomach looks like you should focus on relaxing as often as possible. You’ve had a tough time of it!

Today is an out and about day with not much opportunity to eat or choice of food. I think my best plan is to sort myself with as much proper fuel as possible before I go, and have a little stash of babybels with me. Can’t take the lush M&S rollicks with me now because one of the children discovered them yesterday and hoovered them in record time.

Yes darling, my LCHF snacks are delicious, thanks. Hmm

ShagMeRiggins · 01/03/2019 08:37

venusandmars · 01/03/2019 08:54

@mrskoala I found yoga helped with my flabby belly. Working on my core seemed to pull everything in, even 32 years after I was first pregnant. It helped me stand differently too and I think my overall posture makes me looks less rotund.

I'm very pleased that even last night's extravagant dinner didn't throw me out of ketosis. As I expected it was heavy on butter, cream and protein, just perfect Grin
