Welcome to week 3!

As BIWI's away, she asked if I would start the week 3 thread. I've stolen her words from a previous week 3, as it's such a good explanation of bootcamp v. bootcamp light. Grin

I an not weighing today as I can tell I am bloated. I put psyillium (?) In my yogurt yesterday but accidentally used a desertspoonful instead of a teaspoonful and my belly is rumbling away this morning!

I am also feeling very guilty after eating a large Oreo bar of chocolate and a packet of tangfastics from Haribo which I sucked all the fizzy sugar off. The fact that this happened in a dream doesn't seem to have fully registered yet and I feel like I have 'blown it'! Anyone else eating fantasy sugar?

Lonesurvivor · 02/06/2018 09:36

Great news Ilovecherries I'd love to see you in the 10s before this BC finishes. I started heavier than you initially were but you're my inspiration, not just the loss but seeing you stick to plan long term too.

oldbirdy that is hilarious, did you enjoy them in your dream?

It's a bank holiday here in Ireland, I'd planned on going clothes shopping with money I got for my birthday this week. But I've bought so much this last few weeks I'm not going to bother, I'll wait until they are all too big. I can't even get a handbag or shoes as I received 3 fab bags as gifts and already treated myself to 4 pairs of shoes/sandals in the last few weeks.

We've promised our youngest dd who's 15 as a well deserved treat she can have guinea pigs. I'm not a fan but it's better than getting a second dog which is what she really wants, just like they all wanted the first one who is now apparently a loveable painConfused

Lonesurvivor · 02/06/2018 09:37

Sorry that should've said I'll go pet shopping today rather than clothes shopping.Blush

MumOfAPickle · 02/06/2018 09:58

Morning all, congratulations random, fingers crossed for you.

I've been keeping on with a very few minor slip ups. Half term is usually tricky due to time out and about but I've been better this week than normal. One slip up was a homemade cookie offered by my lovely niece on Tuesday, it was lovely and worth the carbs. The other was one of those bite size millionaires shortbread things at work. I have been resisting all the many offers of biscuits/chocolate/fruit at work and then my colleague waved a box of these under my nose and I usually love these so I took one Sad Definitely wasn't worth it and I'm pissed off with myself, it's tasted overly sweet and artificial and was gone in a second sigh

Still that was Thursday yesterday was better:
B: eggs and buttered sprouts
L: leftover salmon, broccoli and spinach in a creamy sauce
D: beef curry with broccoli
S: 2 x vodka and soda, pork scratchings, Greek yogurt with cream

I'm a pound up on Monday's weigh in but hopefully being strict today and tomorrow will shift that and maybe another...

AthelstaneTheUnready · 02/06/2018 10:02

Well, that 3lb gain has disappeared again Confused, so perhaps it was just the (very old) scales being dodgy. Either way, gave myself enough of a scare to scuttle back onto the straight and narrow.

Today will be eggs for breakfast, prawn & avocado salad for lunch, and belly pork and broccoli for dinner. And about 80 billion trillion litres of water, as my celebration with champagne has left me feeling parched even two days on.

Morning all

Wanted to share last nights dinner as it was lovely, mushrooms grilled with chilli oil and then halloumi added for the last five minutes. Served on rocket and pea shoots

Week 3 - decision-making time!
ajandjjmum · 02/06/2018 10:36

Well I dropped a lb finally this morning, and back to the lowest weight of the BC. Still kept to the rules - thank you BIWI for the pep talk - it worked - kept my motivation going.

Something a PP said - I have to be all in or not in, I can't half do it. So I'm sticking to my current woe and hoping that the pounds keep disappearing.

Good luck everyone in avoiding the weekend temptations.

UnimaginativeUsername · 02/06/2018 11:53

I bought some strawberries and tasted one. It was remarkably sweet and delicious. Luckily DS2 will eat them all before I can eat too many!

Food plans for today:
B: eggs fried in butter with avocado
L: steak with salad and mozzarella
D: salmon in some sort of tasty sauce with FLGV.
I’ll have some strawberries and loads of cream for pudding if I’m not stuffed full.

Rayna37 · 02/06/2018 12:17

One lb up from Monday's weigh in yesterday and I'm away for the weekend so unlikely to improve! Done well so far though: we ate at a steak place last night in the classic "crap town" we're passing through and I swapped my chips for salad, ate some slightly carby onion loaf thing and didn't sweat the content of sauces and dressings, and one single glass of red, so all good. Bit of sausage and bacon (with butter Grin) from the hotel buffet after a run. Fantastic parkrun: only a few seconds slower than I ran at the super-fast proper 5k race a couple of weeks ago and a lovely venue.

GiantPandaAttacks · 02/06/2018 12:20

TMI warning!
Has anyone else had problems when 💩ing? It’s less frequent which I’ve seen other people mention on the previous thread but this is like diarrhoea. A quick google tells me I might not be absorbing all the fat properly - is that about right? (And apologies for the grimness! 😳)

TerfsUp · 02/06/2018 12:38

That looks delicious, RShard.

UnimaginativeUsername · 02/06/2018 14:15

I’ve been having the same problem @GiantPandaAttacks.

clare8allthepies · 02/06/2018 14:22

Has anyone tried making fathead pizza before? I might have a go tonight.

BlackMozart · 02/06/2018 14:23

giantpanda and unimaginative that sounds horrid. Hopefully someone will come along with some words of wisdom soon.

On eating out, if you have a Carluccios near you they have started doing a minute steak with rocket and Parmesan salad and it is lovely!

Rshard · 02/06/2018 15:12

Thanks terfs.

You have my sympathies giantpanda and unimaginative, I had similar the other week combined with piles and had to resort to buying a ‘softener’ - did the trick though. Since then I’ve noticed that when I do go I feel empty, which makes me wonder if I’ve managed to have a damn good clear out and so things are working a bit more efficiently? If that makes sense.

prettybird · 02/06/2018 15:22

I think terf's and panda's problems are the opposite problem Rshard WinkBlush

FWIW, I've occasionally had both problems (not at the same time Grin) and they just seemed to resolve themselves as I KOKO-ed.

So not much help - but at least it's reassurance Smile

prettybird · 02/06/2018 15:23

Meant unimaginative , not terfs Blush

Justmuddlingalong · 02/06/2018 15:31

Went to a local village gala today. Resisted all burgers, hot dogs, cakes and sweets. Ignored the beer tent too. Sipped on a bottle of water instead. Halo Met people I've not seen in a while. Told me how well I'm looking. Chuffed I'm KOKO.

Rshard · 02/06/2018 15:53

Ah I see, apologies Blush

ItsalmostSummer · 02/06/2018 15:58

So I’m reporting back in. Had a good week but last night had a dinner party. I did not have wine and did not have grains or anything off the plan, but I did over indulge and so I ate because I was with friends and not for hunger. I feel very bloated today and am fasting. Hoping to feel better tomorrow and I hope my weigh in is okay on Monday.

AveAtqueVale · 02/06/2018 16:03

Pandas I have that problem sometimes and have assumed it’s fat malabsorption because I don’t have a gallbladder. It seems worse when I’ve been dairy-heavy but it comes and goes - if memory serves it gets less as you get more used to LCHF.

Gammeldragz · 02/06/2018 16:50

So dinner last night was Lidl chimichurri steak with rocket and char fried broccoli. Gorgeous. Those steaks are yum!

Today I've been out at a local theme park type place, took a bulletproof coffee for breakfast as we left at 9:30 and a tub of lettuce leaves with a tub of chicken in mayo and some cheese cubes. Shared with with DSIL for lunch as she's new to LC and I am trying to help in any way I can. Resisted ice cream. Visited MIL and resisted her HM cheesecake (OK I may have had a few finger licks to taste it Blush as it hadn't set and was more of a cheese Puddle!).
Dinner is unknown at the moment, possibly salmon.

Has anyone got a positive low carb diabetes/hba1c story to share? DSIL has just been diagnosed type 2 (hence the low carbing) with hba1c of 74, given metformin and told she can take it if she wants. I've said see how well the LC does until the next blood test before considering meds as I'm fully confident she can reverse it with LC. Any experience I can share with her?

StuntNun · 02/06/2018 17:21

Gammeldragz I coach people with type 2 diabetes and everyone that goes low carb achieves much better blood glucose control. It is perfectly possible to reverse diabetes with diet.

Thanks to whoever mentioned the Idiot Proof Diet cookbook. I dug mine out and made the red onion and feta muffins for lunch which were amazeballs. I've asked DH to make the mussels with samphire as he's a more adventurous cook than me. I have two massive ribeye steaks for us for dinner tonight so I'm going to make the Stilton sauce from the IPD cookbook that someone recommended upthread.

FlowinElla · 02/06/2018 17:31

@Gammeldragz, I have reversed my T2D from HbA1c of 54 at diagnosis, down to 38 (normal is under 42) in 6 months (or less, but that's when I tested again) just with LC - no medication, no exercise (except walking). I did buy a blood glucose meter, they are usually free but you pay for the testing strips, and measured after every meal. It can be done - for more testimonials check out the forum on diabetes.co.uk

TheGherkin · 02/06/2018 18:17

Ive been to little and stocked up.

Fathead pizza for tea.

Might i be ‘allowed’ a small no-alcohol beer? Or is that too horrifically carby?
