Welcome to week 3!

As BIWI's away, she asked if I would start the week 3 thread. I've stolen her words from a previous week 3, as it's such a good explanation of bootcamp v. bootcamp light. Grin

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis Tracy. Chocolate is very restrained in the circumstances.

I managed to do a food shop without kids today and bought a selection of LC delights. I've just tried crispy belly pork slices and they were delicious served with garlic roasted aubergine and spinach.

prettybird · 01/06/2018 17:45

RedPandaMama - I'll tag you on the Jessica Smith exercise thread (on the phone so difficult to link) - that's supposed to be more gentle and easier on the joints than The Shred.

I'd also advice getting some closed loop elastic bands (the ones I have are from Peach & Leany or something like that via Amazon). My Pilates instructor uses the resistance in them to strengthen hips and knees (which are often linked). Eg lying on your side with your legs strafing and the red band around your calfs and lifting the upper one while visualising the lower one pressing into the ground. Or on your side with your legs bent but heels in line with your bum and letting your knee up - both keeping heels together and opening up like an oyster or lifting from the ankle (carefully Wink).

TheGherkin · 01/06/2018 17:51

I have resisted the call of the potato!

Early dinner of 2 burgers (proper meat ones), courgette and spinach with lashings of butter.

Now I need custard Shock. Can I eat meat double cream instead?

MrsBertBibby · 01/06/2018 18:31

Are artichokes ok then? I had some with salad and mozzarella for lunch but was worried. The packet seemed low then I realised the oil probably skews it.

abbey44 · 01/06/2018 18:39

Had a lovely dinner tonight - the rest of the bag of spinach that I opened yesterday (iron levels should be ok then), a courgette chopped up and then a big dollop of mayonnaise, topped off with sea bass with ginger butter. Absolutely lovely. Omelette as usual for breakfast.

And whoever suggested the fruit teabag in a bottle of sparkling water - genius! I have some pineapple and grapefruit teabags (Twinings, I think) and tried it today.....oh my, what a revelation. Thank you Smile

MelanieCheeks · 01/06/2018 18:59

No carbs in oil so that won't be a factor.

Lst night over my dinner of fired sea bass with lemon zest and pink Himalayan salt, I realsied that was enough salt-n-vinegar to curb my chips cravings.

Tonight I tried oomi noodles, wth a creamy mushroom sauce made from herby Philly, and a pocahed chicken breast and some broccoli.

MrsBertBibby · 01/06/2018 19:03

It would if the carbs per 100g included the oil though. Because the oil made up a lot of weight.

itchyknees · 01/06/2018 20:12

What’s oomi noodles? Those things that are made from seaweed? I’ve got some in the cupboard as an emergency. Don’t know what sort of emergency as they’ve been there months. Post apocalypse, maybe.

ScienceNut · 01/06/2018 20:26

Loads to catch up on congratulations and comissrations respectively for upthread.

No ups for me but also nothing down. 8.3lbs off in 2.5 weeks so expecting some catch up time.

Have pretty much stuck to boot camp, my addion has been some Halo ice cream. Also had a meal out where I had whitebait in batter (thought not that bad at 5g of carbs per hundred!)

Divette · 01/06/2018 21:13

Please will someone remind me which of the supplements helps with aching legs? I’m taking both magnesium and potassium but think I need to up the dose (i’m only taking half the recommended daily dose at the mo because the tablets are huuuge!) because my legs are so painful! Confused

Seafour · 01/06/2018 21:27

Random congratulations, amazing news.

The energy police have been and arrested mine, I've had a rubbish day. No energy, headache and slightly snotty. I'm frustrated because I'm booked on a workshop tomorrow with a friend and not at all sure I'm going to be well enough to go.

Anyway dinner was lovely. Cougetti with bacon, halloumi and a pesto type sauce made from fresh herbs.

Week 3 - decision-making time!
BlackMozart · 01/06/2018 21:55

Congrats random on your lovely news, and as everyone has said take good care of yourself Tracey.
Stopped myself from going to the pub tonight as I know a glass of sparkling water wouldn’t have done it for me, so stayed in and had chicken and salad with my emergency pud to follow. For anyone who can get to an M&S the chicken, from the chiller was called something like golden chicken escalopes in spices. 3.0 carbs per 100g and you get 4 thin chicken escalopes, 300g in total. I had 2 tonight and a big green salad with mayo. The other two I will have for lunch tomorrow.

BlackMozart · 01/06/2018 21:58

I meant to add lots of 💐💐💐💐 for both random and tracey and to say the chicken is with the raw meat not pre-cooked.

Justmuddlingalong · 01/06/2018 22:05

Just had an emergency trip to sainsbury for 🐖 pork scratchings. Typical rock and roll night in at the Justmuddlingalong household.

ReadingwithTea · 01/06/2018 22:08

I have been feeling quite hungry, and at times tired, over the past couple of days. From reading the thread, I have upped my fat intake with more olive oil and butter. I have stuck to boot camp rules so far, but today increased my food intake generally with bigger portions and by supplementing with Greek yoghurt and cream (so delicious).

I have lost weight so far, and my aim is really to slim down my tum and waistline, which has been working so far.

Today I have decided to move onto bc lite by including nuts (interestingly, I was craving pine nuts earlier in the week ??). I am going to weigh out a portion of nuts to keep the carbs low enough (I know we don’t need to weigh food, but I don’t want to find myself polishing off a whole packet, which I could easily do!). I had walnuts today, and I have also bought some almonds. Apparently, almonds also contain some potassium, which I think I’ll benefit from. Anyway, I hope that the nuts will help give me an extra boost. Plus they’re high fat, too.

Unfortunately, there were no pine nuts in the shop today!

I had a few baby plum tomatoes today. The taste was incredible. Since giving up sugar and going low carb, my taste buds seem to be so much more sensitive to sweet flavours.

Realistically, my weight could be classed as the right amount now; I do just want to slim down my middle which is where I gain weight. So maybe this is why I am feeling hungry?

MelanieCheeks · 01/06/2018 23:05

Oomi noodles are made of fish protein, and have 6g carbs per 100g. The slim noodles made of konjac have zero carbs.

LeavingTheSandBehind · 02/06/2018 04:03

Congratulations Random; lovely news. It sounds like you have a sensible plan in regards to your eating.

So sorry to read your news Tracey, take care of yourself and rant away as much as you need!

I have been staying on track and weighing daily which seems to show things are working out for me at the moment. I started taking a dessert spoon of olive oil every month last week and that has sorted out my toilet issues. I have also found that drinking a few litres of water a day is easy now and I can tell when I haven't had enough. Off to boil some eggs, have a great day Everyone!

randomuntrainedcuntowner · 02/06/2018 05:33

Well I've got a very faint line yesterday on. Frer compared to yesterday's quite strong one, so worried this might be another chemical. 😕

AthelstaneTheUnready · 02/06/2018 06:22

Tracey, Flowers

Random, or it could be a dodgy strip, or dodgy wee, or anything - it's still a line, so don't fret just yet.

Annoyed with myself - I knew that given an inch for BC lite, I would grab a mile, and I did. 3lbs up, and fully deserved. I am without doubt an abstainer, not a moderator. Back onto BC heavy for me.

Random sending hugs and Thanks like Athel said it's just a line, take care

Up early and feeling better this morning, off to my workshop for the day.

TheGherkin · 02/06/2018 07:29

I just slept for 9 hours and feel fabulous.
Going to Lidl for lchf supplies, clean bathroom, tidy, change Beds, washing, then an afternoon for slobbing around, TV, crochet and lovely stuff.
Scales still say the same but they are old and dodgy and the same is better than an up.

BIWI · 02/06/2018 07:34

It is indeed, @TheGherkin!

Laska5772 · 02/06/2018 08:00

hmm..... I briefly went down a pound a couple of days ago then went back up to my last WI weight . I have stuck to the Bootcamp wk 1 & 2 rules but maybe a bit short on the FLGV. due to being out a lot with DGS .. also probably water .also theres distinct lack of movement this week which follows these things .

ilovecherries · 02/06/2018 08:58

I was 11.3 for the third time this week, so I’m am finally optimistic that my stall is unstalled. I’d love to make it into the 10s by the end of bootcamp, but given my glacial slow loss over the last two months, I won’t hold my breath. Once I get there, my next and final target will be the 140s.

RedPandaMama · 02/06/2018 09:06

Just weighed and I'm 2.5lbs up Sad not a clue why. That was after going to the loo as well. Stark naked, first thing in the morning. I've had horrendous cravings all this week but not given in to them. Eaten loads of fat. Grr. Feeling a bit crap.
