Morning all Flowers

Here's the spreadsheet of fabulousness for you all

Many thanks to wombattoo and SayrraT for keeping the threads going while I was away.

Lots of people talking about how to deal with future events, especially Christmas, and this is something that's really important to think about. This is a tough time of year for low carbing. But it's also a tough time of year if you can't squeeze into your partywear - so you need to decide which is more important. Those roast potatoes or looking good Wink

Good luck everyone

black would love to hear more about your daily mindfulness.

Almahart · 16/11/2017 05:26

I knew I wouldn't lose anything this week because of my planned chest big weekend but I am being an idiot as I got lots of dark chocolate for my birthday and am eating it for the sake of it despite not actually being that bothered. Also had wine twice this weekend which is again stupid as I'm not struggling to eat low carb meals at all

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 16/11/2017 07:16

I wouldnt go mad on the aperol. But you can get away with one or two! About 10g carbs per cocktail.

SayrraT · 16/11/2017 07:23

Just wondering if anyone else cooks on a Rayburn/Aga? I lit it a few days ago and I'm determined to make good use of it this year!

I slow roasted lamb yesterday and I've got bolognese type sauce in the low oven today.

Any other suggestions? I need things that are mostly oven cooked so not on the hob.

Grimbles · 16/11/2017 07:41

Timbuktu. Yay, I'm going to have a couple over Christmas!

I guess advocaat is out though?

Almahart · 16/11/2017 08:18

Vodka soda with lots of fresh lime is surprisingly delicious and very low carb. I'd probably go with that

I made something delicious recently - covered a chicken with a Waitrose curry paste and roasted it in a bed of aubergines and mushrooms with lots of garlic and lemon. It was unbelievably delicious. Made a good spicy stock for cauliflower soup too

BIWI · 16/11/2017 08:51

Came across this, this morning - what sounds like a lovely recipe for low carb garlic bread - apparently only 1g carbs per piece!

I had some chocolate last night (not dark). It tasted amazing. I am reading through the thread a bit Envy of all of you who are really loving this WOE because it's just not happening for me, I am totally fed-up with having a greasy taste in my mouth all the time from all the fat and eating such a restricted diet. Also a bit Envy of those who have gone off carby foods because every time I have carby-twatted the things I have eaten have tasted better than ever. I'm not feeling any benefts other than a bit of weight lost. I really don't think I can face another creamy sauce or oily salad today. I'm even going off cheese, which is my all time favourite food. Poke me with the big stick please.

Veryflummoxed · 16/11/2017 09:22

@SayrraT growing up my parents cooked on an AGA and the most delicious thing to come out of it was roast Brisket, slow cooked in the bottom oven. Cooking it in an ordinary oven just isn’t the same.

Oh i love garlic bread @BIWI. Definitely passing that recipe to DH.

AveAtqueVale · 16/11/2017 09:23

Please tell me it isn’t actually possible to have put on 2lbs in 24 hours?! I’ve been daily weighing all boot camp and have had up and downs but not that much!!

Veryflummoxed · 16/11/2017 09:26

@SayrraT I’m just going to add that everything was cooked on the Aga, and my parents were real experimenters and everything was delicious, I would love an Aga.

Veryflummoxed · 16/11/2017 09:26

On and in

Hippadippadation · 16/11/2017 09:27

Wh0 Sometimes this WOE isn't for everyone. If it's making you unhappy and you're not enjoying it, maybe it's not for you? What works for one, often doesn't work for another. No point being unhappy, that's why diets etc fail.

Ave it will be water lovely, unless you've eaten 7000 calories more than your daily needs yesterday? I often fluctuate 1-3lbs on different days. Just keep drinking the water.

Food plan for me today:
L - off to my friend's, she's making chicken soup
D - DH is out, so I've got some lovely brussels, cauli and broccoli to roast, might have it with eggs.

GailLondon · 16/11/2017 09:34

I might try that garlic bread this weekend BIWI, i bought a big packet of psyllium husk powder for keto baking and have only used it once or twice so far. The pictures of the garlic bread look great! Mine might not be so photogenic!

SayrraT · 16/11/2017 09:40

very we only have the Rayburn to cook on, in the summer this year I pretty much had to just use the George foreman grill and microwave.

I love the Rayburn but I need to try and use it more efficiently. They are excellent for slow cooking in the bottom oven.

Veryflummoxed · 16/11/2017 09:42

every time I have carby-twatted the things I have eaten have tasted better than ever. how often are you carbytwatting? Because if you are not giving yourself long enough periods of low carbing you are not giving yourself time for your taste preferences to adjust.* We are all different. I still enjoy good carby food if I have it. What I no longer enjoy (usually) is crap carb stuff, however should I have some can easily binge on it with minimal pleasure. Boredom? Have you tried making what other people are listing, going to the recipe thread? There is a huge range there. Greasy? I’ve always been a fat lover so perhaps not the best person to answer this however my meal last night for example was baked salmon (plenty of fat there) courgettes in a tomato sauce ( the veg for the sauce was cooked down in butter then passata added, so high in fat and rich tasting but not greasy once combined with the tomato) and I had plain, no fat what so ever, sprouts to balance the fat and richness of the other ingredients.*
You are loosing weight this way which is good, however if you fail to learn to love it maintenance may be hard.**

Veryflummoxed · 16/11/2017 09:44

@SayrraT our kitchen was always boiling in the SummerGrin

Thiswillbemyusername · 16/11/2017 09:47

Morning! I've hit 9st 7.5lbs today. I don't want to lose too much more weight but I also want to continue eating this way. Is that possible? Or will I have to reintroduce carbs? (I really don't miss them)

FurryTurnip · 16/11/2017 09:51

Checking in with yesterday's food:

B: boiled eggs and half protein roll
L: subway salad (unplanned- got stuck in town) was okay but realised it was light mayo after I had eaten it
D: quorn 'chicken' and smoked cheese and cucumber roll ups followed by Greek yogurt and berries

Not a great day on the veg front again - have changed jobs and working odd hours so am snacking more than proper meals. Need to sort myself out.

Meeting friends at Pizza Express tonight - annoyingly they don't do the Aubergine parmigiana anymore so am going to ask them to adapt a salad for me (they don't do a veggie one anymore apart from the superfood one but that's full of chick peas and lentils.

Keep up the good work everyone! My old phone is dying so take ages to load and scroll through all these posts so I may be on less often!

SayrraT · 16/11/2017 10:01

this I'm sure there is a thing where as long as you continue to eat HFLC you won't lose anymore once you reach an ideal weight for your body.

very that's why we turned it off this year that and the fact it costs a fortune to run!

StuntNun · 16/11/2017 10:04

Thiswill you shouldn't keep on losing weight once you reach your ideal weight. If you're at maintenance and you want to eat more carbs then go for the higher carb vegetables such as carrots, potatoes and sweetcorn, and the lower carb fruits such as apples and satsumas. I would continue to steer clear of the tropical fruits such as bananas and pineapples as they are very high in sugar. At maintenance I also don't worry so much about hidden fillers in sausages or sauces thickened with flour.

It was DS3's 5th birthday yesterday so I had a mindful cheat of a tiny piece of birthday cake and extra thick cream. It so wasn't worth it. The icing was horribly sweet. I would have been much happier with just the cream!

AveAtqueVale · 16/11/2017 10:05

Not quite 7000 calories hippa but I did have a glass of wine (my first in four months) and a gluten free cornetto thing as we had friends over for dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed the wine but blame that for the cornetto looking too appealing Blush. Hopefully if I drink water all day it’ll go soonish, and I’ve been crap this week generally - not enough veg etc - so need to get back to basics a bit I think.

Am now really wanting to make some brisket with garlic bread on the side...

ClearEyesFullHearts · 16/11/2017 10:10

whoknows how much weight have you lost and do you post your daily food intake here?

If you do, perhaps we could make suggestions for less "greasy" options. Not everything has to be swimming in oil or butter.

If the cheese is getting to you, eat less of it. Do you find you're eating less with this WOE? At this stage your appetite should have diminished somewhat.

Are you drinking all the water for your weight every day?

And, yes, how often are you carbytwatting? (Love that this is a verb Grin)

Thiswillbemyusername · 16/11/2017 10:10

Thanks @SayrraT and @StuntNun

I've already begun to introduce more carby veg so I'll continue with that, and maybe some fruit (but I think I prefer veg now!)

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 16/11/2017 10:16

Congrats on reaching target thiswill!

Ave if you eat enough carbs to put you out of ketosis then you will gain water weight. This is something to do with your body storing glucose in your muscles with water to bind it. It is why people get a big woosh when they start LCHF as all of that is flushed out. If you get back on it you will loose it again in a day or two so don’t worry too much.
