Good morning Flowers

So the last thread reached 1000 posts. I don't think that's ever happened on any other Bootcamp! It's a really good sign that everyone is engaged in the process, even if it's not always been from a positive place. If things aren't working for you, please keep reading and posting - even if you just lurk, hopefully the support and advice here will be helpful for you.

But it's a glorious day again, and the sun is shining brightly already and the birds are singing their hearts out. I hope that this translates into positivity and optimism for all of us this week - even if you've been struggling!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

We're past the dreaded weeks 4 and 5 now, so hopefully things will start to get going in the right direction, and you should see the weight move downwards - assuming, of course, that you aren't cheating or allowing carb creep.

Good luck everyone

Hot Hot Hot!!!!

B. HB eggs and cucumber
L. Chard, 3 bacon and a big mushroom (all cooked in butter)

Are jalapeño low carb? I ate someone else's before I thought about it

S. Few walnuts

D. Will be beef burger and salad.

From being s non-meat water I've turned into a carnivore!

Now. Should I go to Roller derby? It's v Hot, I'm out of practice and might die. But I'm unfit and need the exercise.

ragz134 · 20/06/2017 18:41

Evening all. Hot day in clinics this afternoon, very hot lunch break sat in my car (like to get out of the hospital). Have drunk nearly 3l of water so far which will be more by this evening.

12pm - 7 slices of ham and 2 slices of pepper cheddar. (Made rollups)
6pm - deep fried garlic chicken breast with deep fried halloumi (the Fryer was hot when I got in so I used it!) And stir fried cabbage. 5 strawberries and extra thick cream.

That's me done with food for the day. #namastebitches Wink

MOIST · 20/06/2017 18:44

Mayo in my salad and a Gouda slice or 3 on the side.

HemanOrSheRa · 20/06/2017 18:50

Argh. I am melting. I wouldn't go to roller derby MOIST. But I'm wilting in this heat and I'm lazy. This evening I shall mostly be sat in front of the fan my pants complaining about how hot it is Grin.

Food today:

No breakfast.

Lunch very late - chicken salad with leftover celeriac remoulade and salad with mayo.

Dinner - 3 low carb sausages, roasted asparagus and roasted courgette with mint, lemon and chilli. Green salad with oily dressing and goats cheese crumbled over.

I think I shall have a bowl of raspberries and cream too.

Water - not enough but I'm still guzzling. For various reasons I didn't have access to water to top my bottle up at work this morning. I also had an afternoon Nanna Nap so was sleeping when I should have been drinking!

Naschkatze · 20/06/2017 19:21

Heman I got an image of the pants complaining about the heat whilst reading that sentence!

Feeling rubbish this evening. Don't know if it's lack of water, salt or not enough fat having cut the cream, or just the heat...I've lost track of how many times I've filled my water bottle but I'm going to keep drinking.

YoLoZammo · 20/06/2017 19:25

Right, have dug thru bin.

Chipolatas have 3.9% fat or 2.3g for two as grilled. I ovened them but that's not much different from grilling. A lot of fat came out that I couldn't put back in.

Coleslaw not home made. 4.5% carb, 17% fat.

Water 3l so far today. Another litre to go at least this eve. It's hot. SS says 3.5 for my weight iirc.

I know peas are quite sweet, so I had only a few and they were small ones. I also had 4 little baby plum tomatoes in the salad for lunch. I did wrong here didn't I?

No dressing on salad, I thought the coleslaw was creamy enough. And I didn't want it sloshing about on my journey to work.

Mayo was about dessertspoonful. A dollop in technical terms.

Only a sprinkle of cheese because everyone is saying cut the dairy this week. Was probably enough to fill a dessertspoon grated. It's 28% fat, 0 carbs. and very tasty

My weight has dropped back to where it was on 3 June, so I've lost the little gain I made this week. I've yoyoed since then by a kilo up and down. I've been sticking to the rules pretty well, but somewhere slightly more carby than strict bc but less carby than bclite. No major food fuck-ups. I'd thought it was a portion problem, but might be the dairy?

Thanks for the critique. It's v useful.

dust thanks for the Whole30 letter and the explanation. I'll read it properly this evening.

HemanOrSheRa · 20/06/2017 19:41

Hehe! I missed out an 'in'. Sat IN my pants. Although my pants would complain about the heat if they could I'm sure! Grin

readyforno2 · 20/06/2017 19:47

Does anyone else really crave fruit?
Usually I'm fine and can manage no problem but right now all I want is an apple... help!

GoodBadOrIndifferent · 20/06/2017 19:49

Utterly demoralised if I'm honest.

My 4lb gain is sticking. I'm consistently eating under 25g of carbs a day.

I'm constantly exhausted despite lots of fat and salt.

B: FF Fage and double cream. Creamy coffee
L: tuna mayo salad. Loads of mayo.
D: is going to be 2 sausages as I'm too tired to do anything else.
S: smoked cheese, small bar of 85% chocolate.
Any ideas bootcampers? I'm eating enough, I'm having loads of fat and loads of salt and yet it doesn't seem to be working.

JiminnyCricket · 20/06/2017 19:52

GoodBadOrIndifferent so much dairy in your diet could be the culprit, also how small is a small bar of chocolate?

JiminnyCricket · 20/06/2017 19:53

Dinner is yummy today, lamb kebabs cooked in the griddle with salad, garlic mayo and mint extract Grin

Week 5 - Low Carb Bootcamp chat - and we reach the half way point!
dustmotesinthesun · 20/06/2017 19:55

You can really only try getting rid of dairy Goodbad. Tough but it should help.

Also with the heat some people will be retaining water. It might be influencing things.

If I eat chocolate, I stall. Doesn't matter if it's a tiny amount sadly.

Ready I get bad fruit cravings. I have no answers sadly!

dustmotesinthesun · 20/06/2017 19:56

Also constantly exhausted = up your carbs! Not by lots, experiment at first, but some people do experience bad exhaustion on a low carb diet. Have some carrot or some extra avocado and some berries. See if that helps. If not, up them a bit again.

ASDismynormality · 20/06/2017 19:59

I made the mistake today of leaving a bowl of fruit next to me while watching a film. I grazed on raspberries, gooseberries and black currents. Next time I will put them straight on the fridge when o get back from the allotment!

HemanOrSheRa · 20/06/2017 19:59

Yes ready I do. It was fruit cravings that finished me off the last time I tried LCHF.

GoodBadOrIndifferent · 20/06/2017 20:02

Jiminny moderate dairy usually, breakfast yoghurt and a cheese snack
dustmotes I'm torn between upping the carbs and gulp ubercamp

BIWI · 20/06/2017 20:05

Why are you counting your carbs? You're not supposed to do that on Bootcamp!

There's also very little veg in your menu - that's where you're supposed to be getting your carbs from, not from processed meat or chocolate.

I don't think you're eating well at all. Why not try having eggs for breakfast instead of the dairy? And add some more veg into your evening meal.

Also, even if you're getting salt, it could also be that you're lacking magnesium and potassium - try eating salmon, avocado, spinach for this.

How much water are you drinking?

Don't do ubercamp. Sort this out first.

Sorry - all that sounded very sharp. Was writing whilst doing somethign else! Smile

ilovecherries · 20/06/2017 20:26

Breakfast: fasting

Lunch: entertaining client who was determined to have his free lunch. :( Very small portion chicken Korma (server said there was only ground almonds, ghee and cream in the sauce - hope he was right). Fried okra. Coffee with cream

Dinner: chicken and chorizo stir fry, with shallots, mushrooms, spinach and a couple of slices of red pepper. Side of Parmesan asparagus. 6 strawberries and a spoonful of FF Yog.

Snacks: none
Water: not enough and I'm feeling it. Will probably reach 3L by bedtime.

GoodBadOrIndifferent · 20/06/2017 20:30

BIWI i find the carb counting useful to keep on track. I'd usually have a load of roast veg with dinner, but exhausted.

BIWI · 20/06/2017 20:32

But @GoodBadOrIndifferent - if you follow Bootcamp rules you will be on track! And as there's no daily carb amount or limit, I' not quite sure what you think you're tracking.

Relax. Read the rules again, and do some proper meal planning.

Make sure you're eating quality fat, plenty of good protein and a decent amount of veg and salad.

OP posts:
BIWI · 20/06/2017 20:42

Do you have much weight to lose? You're not on the spreadsheet, so I can't tell!

A couple of things you could try, beyond what I've already said

  • give up the dairy for a couple of days (I don't mean do ubercamp though!)
  • add a slice of wholemeal toast, or an orange, to your day for a couple of days, and see if that helps.

it could be, as has been said up thread that you aren't getting enough carbs, so this would be a way to find that out

OP posts:
GoodBadOrIndifferent · 20/06/2017 20:58

BIWI I am eating lots of veg and good fats! I have 6.5 stone to lose, and I'm a chronic name changer, I'm on there just not under this name.
I might try a few more carbs! I really need to not be this exhausted, I'm about to go too bed.

OldBooks · 20/06/2017 21:04

NSV tonight. Got home and DH gave me a hello hug and squeezed my bum. He actually gasped and asked if I was stood normally then said that it is smaller and firmer Grin

CaptainBraandPants · 20/06/2017 21:12

Welcome Lovlies (BTW< you can join the other thread as well if you want Wink)
C4 well done. Brilliant to go from 20 steps to 400 so quickly.
Thanks dust very interesting. I tried whole30 a while ago in-between bootcamps, but I just couldn't cope with the total lack of dairy.
MOIST did you go to Roller Derby? Sounds good, but sweaty fun.
OldBooks now that is a great NSV. Grin

Dinner was chicken stuffed with garlic butter and wrapped in bacon, with baby corn and mange tout. Yummy, but DS1 liked the smell of it, so nicked one that I was keeping for a lunch. The downside of making food that is too good.
As it is cooler here today, I went for a run. Managed 5k, but did need a 0.5k talking break in the middle. Sort of pleased, but will be pleased when I can do it without a walk in he middle. Then, as I didn't do the 7 MWC this morning, I thought I better do it tonight. Was a bit hot and sweaty after all that.
