Argh. Coconut Cream vs Creamed Coconut.... back on to Ocado to order the right stuff.

Huge congrats to Cherrypi! :)

FelixFelix · 13/05/2014 15:43

Congrats cherry!

Weighed in this morning and lost 2.5lb Smile also got coconut cream coming with my Ocado order tonight! Exciting stuff!

FelixFelix · 13/05/2014 15:45

Ooh that spreadsheet is clever isn't it!

StuntNun · 13/05/2014 16:34

I have a pack of sliced curly kale from Tesco. How do I make it into crisps and are they actually nice? I was very disappointed with courgette crisps and celeriac chips but the emmental crisps were yum.

readyforno2 · 13/05/2014 16:36

If I am substituting cabbage for spaghetti what do I do?
Boil it or fry it?

monkeyfacegrace · 13/05/2014 16:41

Argh I can't satisfy my hunger today.

I've had cheese, 3 bags of pork scratchings, and a huge bowl of broccoli and courgette fried in butter topped with rare steak.

I'm starving.

antimatter · 13/05/2014 16:46

I managed nearly 3 l of water by now.
Due to my commuting I have to stop drinking by 1 pm and was very fast at topping up my cups (warm water works for me best Grin)

lowcarbforthewin · 13/05/2014 16:52

Kale crisps - shred the leaf from the stem. They have to be dry. Out the, in a bowl and toss with olive oil and salt (or whatever).

Lay them out on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Bake for 10 mins at 180. But watch them the first time you do them, they burn quickly.

Personally I wasn't sure before hand but loved them. Very nice!!! You just have to be careful as kale is a bit carbier than some veg. (Sadly!)

lowcarbforthewin · 13/05/2014 16:52

Put the leaves in a bowl, that should say.

lowcarbforthewin · 13/05/2014 16:53

Want to make oyster mushroom crisps one day too.

LittleMissDisorganized · 13/05/2014 17:17

ready to use courgette you slice thinly and cook in butter... not used cabbage but probably try the same.

I was underwhelmed with kale crisps, I must say. Maybe because I'd hope they'd taste like crisps Confused which was clearly not going to happen.

lowcarbforthewin · 13/05/2014 17:30

Yeah, you can't expect them to taste like crisps, they're disappointing that way. Mind you they taste better the better your ingredients - so sea salt and lots of good olive oil really helps

StuntNun · 13/05/2014 17:32

Ready I thinly slice the cabbage and microwave it then melt butter in the microwave and pour it over the cabbage with some salt and lots of black pepper. Lovely with bolognese or curry.

Thumbwitch · 13/05/2014 17:33

I didn't like the kale crisps after the first few - they started to repeat on me, which wasn't pleasant, and I felt a bit sick. Haven't tried them again, although I keep meaning to try swede crisps, but the recipe I found takes about 2h and I'd cry if they were shit after that long. :(

Someone asked about swede chips ages ago - I parboil mine for 10mins first, then toss them with olive oil and salt and cook them in the oven for about 20 mins at about 180 deg C. If you don't parboil them first (DH Hmm) then they stay chewy, but if you do, they can come up almost as good as potato chips, IMO.

Today I had:
A bit of cheese
2 x ultra low carb bars (all I could take on the train with me)
rose veal scaloppini coated in egg, parmesan, coriander and Boursin, fried in butter and olive oil; with sautéd swede (oil, butter, water, salt), and steamed carrots and brussel sprouts. Also mushrooms cooked in butter, garlic salt and a bit of red wine.
Yoghurt for pudding.

Not enough water by a long shot - but that's what 4h on a train will do to you.

readyforno2 · 13/05/2014 17:33

Thanks littlemiss. That's exactly what I did. Will try the courgette next time!

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 13/05/2014 17:45

Thanks op.
Today. Eggs inna cup. BPC. Pint water.
Mid morning snack/lunch two slices of leek pancetta tortilla.
Copious (a litre) amounts of water 4cups green tea.
Coffee and cream. Bresaola salad.
Yesterday. 2 boiled eggs 2 spears asparagus..
Tortilla,creamy aldi coleslaw,green salad.
Dinner mince fried with aubergine, topped with a bit of cheese. 3 litres water(some made as green tea) coffee with butter
I'm counting carbs, stopping eating when full. Have cut down on the dairy.

petalsandstars · 13/05/2014 17:51

Gammon egg and roasted cauli, broccoli and baby corn for tea. I'm missing carbs though - not cravings as such - but I made a lovely risotto and couldn't have any.

readyforno2 · 13/05/2014 17:53

B - fried egg in butter, coffee with cream
L - cauliflower and broccoli soup with crispy bacon lardons and tiny splash of double cream
D - Bolognese with cabbage 'spaghetti' cheese on top
No snacks yet but if I get hungry later I'll have some Greek yog

4 or 5 pints of water and an earl grey

StuntNun · 13/05/2014 18:11

Thanks Lowcarbforthewin I'll try that later. They're 1.4g per 100g and in a 206g bag so even if I are the whole bag that's only 3g of carbs. I'm not planning to eat the whole bag btw!

B: two boiled eggs, too much tea thank you amazing not sleeping baby
S: pork scratchings
L: yoghurt and cream (the fridge was empty)
D: burger with salad
Supper: kale crisps or chicken wings once the kids are in bed.

I have had a horrendous day today (see comment above about the not sleeping baby) but something someone said upthread about using a bad day as an excuse to eat the wrong stuff resonated with me and although I wanted to fall face first into a pile of chips and ice cream (not literally as that would be disgusting), I have just about managed to stick to the straight and narrow.

Notsoskinnyminny · 13/05/2014 18:13

Coconut cream is delicious, can't believe none of us found it on the last BC. I had meetings all day and knew I mightn't get time to eat all of my salad so mixed some in with ff yog as I knew it'd fill me up and keep me going until I could finish my lunch at 4pm.

Cherry congratulations, wishing you a healthy 9 months.

I'm another who suffered with erratic periods when I started last BC and I'm on HRT Grin was not impressed.

Swede chips and leftover slow cooked pork for dinner tonight provided there's enough left as I caught DH munching it straight from the fridge like a naughty kid when I got home.

calzone · 13/05/2014 18:18

Am so full!!

Had chicken and broccoli for dinner.

Am over 3L water and am sloshing a bit. Grin

IWillIfHeWill · 13/05/2014 18:46

Toasted sesame oil, no carbs but about a million calories. Does anyone know offhand if its acceptable or not?

prettybird · 13/05/2014 19:31

Low carb, High Fat WoE = sesame seed oil is fine Smile

spamm · 13/05/2014 19:34

Doing OK so far today - keeping on track, which is good, and not too hungry either, which is quite impressive.

B: leftover fried courgettes and mushrooms in cream with turkey sausages
L: salad with blue cheese, egg, radishes and bacon bits - they forgot my avocado and my chicken, which I only discovered - argggghhh. Hope I do not get to hungry - as I do not have any snacks with me.
D: planning meat with veg - but it depends what I pick up at the show. I may make Taco Bake again - that was yummy!

Drinking water. I am 1.5 ltrs down now - at 2pm, so i probably need to increase pace or I will be struggling at 9pm. Last night I just finished my 3.5 ltrs at 10.40pm, just was I was heading to bed.

pingufan · 13/05/2014 19:40

Anyone know if curry powder is ok?

Today's menu
B - 2 eggs scrambled with butter and torchin ham
L - lettuce, mayo and roast chicken
D - mushrooms and yellow pepper fried in butter with the leftover roast chicken stirred in and some curry powder. Made like a stir fry type thingy
