Wow! So much nattering that we've filled up the thread before the end of the week!

Here's the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for tomorrow morning.

And, for the Weight Tracker I'm not quite sure what happens with this link I think that you will be asked to enter your weight for this week and then you will see your individual graph.

I hope you all had a good week last week, and very good luck for week 2.

I had the bacon and chicken salad at MacDonalds. The chicken was odd, it had a spongy texture, and there was fat running through the middle of some of the pieces. I think I'm starting to pay more attention to the quality of my food.

I just made open 'sandwiches' using two quarters of a large green pepper, with avocado, mozzarella and ham inside. Quite nice.

I've lost the puffiness in my face. I noticed when I was putting my make-up on. Also I didn't hit snooze on my alarm today for the first time in who knows how long! I was ready to get up straight away. I'm keeping a food diary, so I'm also going to list these positive changes as they happen - to keep me on the right road Smile

I've got pork belly for tea - some slices I've marinated in salt and pepper.

Will blast on highest temp for 20mins, then turn it down for about 35-40mins. That will crisp up the crackling.

Best way is to pour white hot goose fat over the top and then blast.

GatoradeMeBitch · 23/01/2014 16:50

That sounds lovely! I'll have to put pork belly on my shopping list

Well I've blown today's LC'ing.

At lunch time a colleague went to the shop and I asked her to get me an avocado and some cheese, I should have been le it more specific ( ok, a lot more). She brought me back some cottage cheese with pineapple.......it had so many carbs I could have cried. But not wanting to offend lovely colleague I ate the flippin lot. Didn't even enjoy it and now I've had loads of sugary carbs and I feel crap Confused

LibraryBook · 23/01/2014 17:57

Getting a bit ahead of myself here. Grin How much do you have to lose to go down a dress size? It's just that I have a big occasion in March and I'm trying to work out if I'll be able to fit into my Alice Temperley dress. Or if I should be on the lookout for something new.

Brunch Cheese omelette and butter sautéed mushrooms.
Early dinner - Salad of Chicken & bacon sautéed with chopped birdseye chilli, half avocado, cucumber, raw red onion rings and three, quartered cherry tomatoes, big blob mayo. (heaven doesn't cover it)

I had a very disturbed night last night due to a poorly child so I'm going to treat myself to a long hot bath and an early night.

Blush

Lost the momentum yesterday and drank loads of white wine after finally receiving my STBXH's financial disclosure for the divorce. It did not make pleasant reading. However, on the positive side I am amazed that I have not eaten any illicit carbs bar one micro chip at lunchtime. I shall be having an early night and trying to resume normal service tomorrow.

I so so so want to do this, want it to work, want to feel as though I have the strength to forge ahead doing something for myself. For all of last year I felt completely adrift regarding self-care, as though it was taking all of my reserves to just cope and be a 'good enough' parent while going through the mill. I can't bear the thought of 2014 going the same way.

ChesterDrawers · 23/01/2014 18:04

Right, thank to you lot I've bought some belly pork. Even the name makes me feel a bit queasy so it had better be nice. I did draw the line at cheeks.

I am going to use Crabby's recipe. What goes well with it veg wise?

ChesterDrawers · 23/01/2014 18:07

Well done for avoiding the carbs Helium and sorry to hear you've had a tough time Flowers

Sounds like you should make 2014 the year you do something for you, there are lots of people here who can help and advise.

toomuchicecream · 23/01/2014 18:12

I've got pork belly too! 2 slices I found in the freezer, so all the ideas for slow roasting a whole piece were no good. I've adapted a recipe I found on the BBC Good Food website for belly pork & chorizo casserole.

Browned pork well and took it out of casserole. Sizzled chorizo then added veg (I used garlic, shallots, celery, a leek) and seasoning (I used fennel seed, smoked paprika cos I don't have the chilli flakes in the recipe, mixed herbs - no thyme - and the rest of my tube of tomato puree, and 50ml sherry vinegar. Finally 1 tin of tomatoes and then a tin of water and put pork back in. Think that was it! Oh - and some salt and pepper. It's now in a low oven for 2 or 3 hours, so I might just be eating it tomorrow... Not sure how it will turn out because I didn't measure anything so the quantities are quite hit and miss :)

And I think it might be me captain mummy was referring too from the last bootcamp, up-thread somewhere. I lost a lot in the first couple of weeks and then more or less stalled for 5 or 6 - down 1, up a half, down 2, up 1 - that kind of thing. Then suddenly I lost 6 pounds in a week, out of nowhere. I had not idea what I'd done differently, and still don't really. All I can think of is that it was half term (teacher) so although my food and drink had been the same as previously, I'd been more active as not tied to a classroom all day. So this time I'm making an effort to go for a walk and bike ride on both Saturday and Sunday, if I can.

Lovecat · 23/01/2014 18:16

:( Durham (love your username btw). Just chalk it up to experience and move on. Drink lots of water.

I have to say if someone asked me to buy cheese it wouldn't occur to me to buy cottage cheese? Is it actually even cheese or just the curdled drool of Satan?

I had my first BPC (nearly typed BFP then, that would be another thread altogether...) this morning and wow! How gorgeous is that?

Have felt very calm and 'capable' this afternoon, rather than running round like a loon and achieving nothing like I usually do. The cooker is spotless and shiny, the kitchen surfaces are decluttered for the first time since NYE and I have cleaned the downstairs bathroom, which was a pit of filth. Not sure if it's carb fog lifting or just coincidence, but I like it!

Not sure if I've eaten enough today but I haven't felt hungry at any point.

B - BPC
L - big salad of rocket, cucumber, baby plum tomatoes, mini mozzarella balls, avocado and ham sloshed drizzled in avocado oil
D - Creamed Chicken & avocado melt - a decarbed Delia recipe. Having it with broccoli and green beans in butter.

DurhamDurham · 23/01/2014 18:19

Lovecat, you made me laugh which did not seem possible whilst I was silently spooning the devil's curd in to my mouth!! Grin

LibraryBook · 23/01/2014 18:19

heliumheart - Difficult time for you. Well done remaining on the l/c wagon.

Evening losers!

Captain your phone's got a stutter Grin

Durham you can have some of my boobies, Dh might thing FF means fuckin fantastic but he wants to try sleeping on them.

Crabby I was lucky mine never wanted to visit their dad although I would've loved some me time and it would've done him good to realise how much hardwork kids are so I've never had the worry of the longhaul flight, hub airports and whether they're homesick.

Mr Tesco came and laughed at the amount of water I'd ordered. I'd also ordered a meal deal so DH had a bottle of wine and some pudding but they substituted the main course and I had to give it all back as I'd have to pay full price for the other items and he's not worth a £7.50 bottle of plonk when I'm not drinking. The poor man's face when I gave his wine and trifle back was a picture Grin

Is anyone else waking up with a dry mouth like they've drunk a bottle of gut-rot wine?

Methe · 23/01/2014 18:34

B yog with cream, flaked almonds and berry purée
L cheese and a pepperami
T mushrooms fried eggs and ham... The kids had waffles and bread and butter and not eating any was such a struggle. Bread and butter!

I'm 10lb down since the 13th so it is working but I'm so bored of the food.

GatoradeMeBitch · 23/01/2014 18:48

Can I ask, what is a BPC? Is it on the recipe thread? I haven't had a chance to look at that before, but I'm just about to. Is it bacon, peppers and camembert?

SnowieBear · 23/01/2014 18:52

Captain, yup, definitely having enough veg, your comment about fibre content in protein and fat makes sense though.

It's just strange... nothing for days on end and then one day of very loose bowels. Rinse and repeat.

Had a nosey round crisp alley at the supermarket in hope of some veg crisps... left with pork scratchings instead, could not believe how high carb they all were Sad. Looking forward to dinner now...

Methe · 23/01/2014 19:10

snowie have you tried Kale crisps

Really nice and really easy. Fabulous if you need a but of crunch in your life :)

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 23/01/2014 19:11

Pork belly was amazing. So fatty, so tasty!

popsnsqeeze · 23/01/2014 19:29

My questions keep getting lost in the shuffle, going to repost and add my new ones now.

  1. My weight has hardly budged this week, if anything it is going up. And I'm being very strict. I'm still drinking 2 litres, but i'm also peeing less. I don't mind not losing every week, but could the 2 things be connected?
  1. I'm making a roast for tomorrow night that needs to be marinaded in some carby stuff. Is that ok?
  1. Meatballs - can i still do a tomato based sauce? Any ideas if not?

Thank you!!!

Lovecat · 23/01/2014 19:35

BPC is a Bullet Proof Coffee - there's a thread about it in the main LC section. I made mine with 1 tbsp coconut oil and 1 tsp butter, with a few drops of vanilla extract, all blended together with the coffee. It may sound odd but it's like having a lovely creamy latte :)

ElBombero · 23/01/2014 19:45
