I've kinda met someone I like, he's single - I'm single (nearly 2yrs) we both have kids, we both like each other, he's asked me out, I've kinda not really responded, and now we're in limbo, I want to ask for his number but am slightly scared/nervous/unsure of how to ask, where to begin?

He's currently working two streets away and I pass him most days, stop for a chat etc, I just don't know how to further things ...?

BTW end the drivel,i could do with a good sleep

alypaly · 14/02/2010 22:56

send the drivel...not end the drivel

Guess what, played the world badminton bronze medalists today. They beat us, but not too badly....21-12....21-17. We were definitely in contention, but i could do with a fitter partner as i have to cover alot of court. My partner used to be a fantastic player but unfortunately arthritis has knackered her knees and hips. Im sure we would have won if i had had a partner who was a runner too.

Enjoyed the games tho and looking forward to ore on monday and wednesday.

Talking archaeology, they dug up the 17th green at one of my local golf clubs as some remains were found..greenkeeper wasnt too happy ,as it was done in the night.I believe they found pottery and coins

alypaly · 16/02/2010 20:42

what did you do for valentines JT?

jamestkirk · 17/02/2010 00:02

spent an anti-valentines day at work getting on with the xr in the company of radio 1. at least reggie yates shared my view of the day, the rest churned out the usual drivel. left me feeling even more single than ever.

you do anything exciting? let me guess - a bit of badminton?

alypaly · 18/02/2010 00:18

had a meal out and then ,yes youve guessed it....played against the bronze medalists on the sunday....fortunately i didnt play on the saturday as i was a tad hungover. The dinner had a glass of very good wine with each course and i dont normally drink alot,so i was a little squiffy.
Spent valentines night doing some more tiling and clearing the pantry ready to make some shelves.

alypaly · 18/02/2010 22:34

feeling single is the norm for me as i have never been married. nearly did but chickened out. Good job i did as he did the dirty on me when DS2 was 9 months old..so i must have had 6th sense. Scool always call me Mrs X and it gets me really annoyed as i have never been Mrs. I hate Ms though.

jamestkirk · 18/02/2010 22:39

argh - the dreaded mrs x!!

i hated it too when they called me mr x - youd think they could have remembered my name!

suppose thats a little too flippant....

oh - evening - just put comp on - you all shelved up?

alypaly · 18/02/2010 23:43

nope still tiling today and had to take DS2 to docs as he has developed a wheeze.......Had to take loads of loose tiles back to B& Q as i had 2 faulty boxes worth of naff tiles which has really delayed me. Having to hand sort them before i put them on the wall and when the daylight goes....electric light doesnt seem good enough,so i cant get a good long run at tiling. Plus ,with it being the kitchen...i have to tidy it up all the time so that the adhesive and grout doesnt find its way into my sauces Think i might get some complaints.

Ended up putting stuff back in the pantry as i have decided to go to my caravan this weekend. It will be the first weekend that it has opened since december,so it will be a bit damp,i think. Meeting some friends for a meal and a drink in a pub on the canal Not seen then since the park closed,so that will be nice.

jamestkirk · 18/02/2010 23:57

cool - a pub by the canal sounds a brilliant place to spend the weekend - enjoy the damp caravan, i'll be in a frezing garage welding the weekend away....tho just seen an engine on ebay - in larak...and its a brand new race engine never been used....its also two weeks' wages

oh - hope ds is ok - is so cold, freezing air can bother even the fittest.

alypaly · 19/02/2010 00:11

He has had a cough since last october and it doesnt seem to want to go. He has a bad dust mite allergy ( not that my house is dusty)but hates going to the docs unless he is really unwell. I could hear him wheezing when he was sat next to me so i insisted on him going. It gets worse after he has played badminton too.

I am loading my car up with sleeping bags/fleecy liners, oil heater(just to get the chill off) It is quite an old caravan ,but it still looks new on the inside. Cant wait to see my friends from the park....we have some good BBq's and nights out at the pub and curry houses locally.I quite like cooking dinner there too as its a challenge to see what i can cook on a 3 burner calor gas cooker

alypaly · 23/02/2010 00:51

found the lost post

Are you still in the land of the living JT or are you engulfed in your car?

Didnt get to the caravan as my friends van has a split in it and it will take 6 weeks to repair. We were hoping to meet up after they had picked up their van after its service. So had a boring weekend with the DIY again. Hows the car coming on?

jamestkirk · 23/02/2010 22:58

hi there aly

thought you were having a hidihi weekend with your fellow campers - sorry to hear you spent it in the kitchen tho a caravan in feb does sound cold, think youd be scraping ice off everything!

i spent my weekend at work with the car - took the engine out tonight tho havent decided on a replacement as the logbook still isnt back yet will continue with the welding till i know its mine then can spend more than just time on it.

is your kitchen all done yet? does seem to take ages when you have to do it all yourself around work - took me two months to refit mine, was working till midnight to get it finished in the end!

have fun with it - i'm looking forward to a summer i can enjoy without too much to do - even have the digging about done ready for laying the new drive - just want the temp up a few degrees first. tho i'm still looking at a pile of timber in the living room - seem to have got used to seeing it now

meanwhile ive been hearing how all the poitical parties are queing up to champion the cause of single parenting - they must be desperate for votes, or its been a quiet day at the office today. expect theyll think of something equally noble next week lol.

take care, have fun and get those shelves done !

alypaly · 24/02/2010 00:32

im too hot to get icicles on everything.......well i think i am. There is something wonderful about being at the caravan when it is cold. I think its snuggling in the sleeping bag with the heating on and hearing the rain on the roof. Call me sad...its therapeutic for me.Its double glazed ,so its warm with the heating on.

Have got aout 150 tiles to do now now...final run..i am so annoyed ,i have had to take the individual tiles off the meshing because they are so bad. Done alot today so i think 2 more days plus my job will have it done. Then the coving and shelving, then my bedroom. Aaaaah a womans' work is never done...blah blah blah.

BTW i am a little tiddly tonight, met up with an old friend for a drink and that last glass of wine has really gone to my head,so apologies if i am not making sense. Dont normally drink alot, and ive had 3 glasses.off to bed now.night night.

alypaly · 24/02/2010 00:36

lost our thread so i started another..JT ......which one shall we carry on in....which one has the least voyeurs(te he) ooohhh i am drunk ,time for bed. Ooooh bad head tomorrow. At least im cheap inexpensive to take out.

alypaly · 24/02/2010 09:26

why does alcohol stop me from sleeping when it knocks everyone else out.grrrrrrr

jamestkirk · 27/02/2010 23:14

hope you caught up on your sleep

and your tiles - is a pity you didnt get away tho - your caravan sounds rather cosy, hope your friends get theirs sorted so you can escape soon.

i could do with an escape - has become non stop work here - am starting early, finishing late and bringing stuff home to get on with - grrr, is worth it tho, and everyone needs a hobby

you'd be impressed at me refurbing my suspension in the dining room - will be building a new engine soon....wonder where i can do that

anyway - you got those tiles on yet - just how small are they? sounds like mosaic?
