funnily enough i get a lot of people saying they find it quite refreshing!

zippitippitoes · 08/08/2007 21:45

well he has rung me...and is going to ring back shortly

lou33 · 08/08/2007 22:03

and?

zippitippitoes · 08/08/2007 22:04

he sounds very nice...I sound about twelve

zippitippitoes · 08/08/2007 22:06

supposing he wants to meet me...he lives in London

lou33 · 08/08/2007 22:10

i sound stupidly young as well on the phone

will you meet him?

was it ok speaking to him?

zippitippitoes · 08/08/2007 22:16

it was except that I was whizzed straight back to teenage dates where I never spoke out of extreme shyness

when I gave him my number i said I had come over all shy so on the phone when i went quiet he said...you've gone quiet...cue zippi head empties of all possible things to say

anyway he does sound nice...will see if he rings back or that was just escaping from me

lou33 · 08/08/2007 23:39

lol awww zippi

at least you didnt snort when you laughed, or did you?

zippitippitoes · 08/08/2007 23:47

no

he did ring back...but i think it was hard work I felt totally stressed and headachey after...somehow think that is the last i'll hear..and to be honest just felt like it would be so nice to be with dp after....

lou33 · 08/08/2007 23:51

i think you have to go from talking online ot texting then speaking, i never speak until i am comfortable i am ready, even if htey call me, i wont answer until i want to lol

so when i do speak i dont feel awkward

also i am usually doing something else at the same time like tidying , so it gives me a distraction to stop focusing on the fact i am talking to an unkown

zippitippitoes · 08/08/2007 23:55

oh we have exchanged quite a few emails of a kind of bantering sort since last week

seemed to do all right with that...I would be the same talking to an mn (in fact i have and the phone is just awkward to me)

I just have this fear of a silence coming up..i should think a date would be awful

lou33 · 08/08/2007 23:58

i've had some dullards on dates

once my mate walked by when i was on one and i dragged him into sit with us for an hour lol

equally i have had a couple that have been ok just not guys i want to see again to develop it

but i have a few in the pipeline, 2 of them i have good feelings about

zippitippitoes · 09/08/2007 00:03

I suppose it's practice

I never was any good at this

was hoping it wouldn't be something I had to do...but i want to have a go and see the possibilities (at least that was the theory)before dp finds a girlfriend

zippitippitoes · 09/08/2007 00:04

I think the thing is to have several possibilities...sounds good for you

lou33 · 09/08/2007 00:15

i also never expect anything out of it but a couple of hours out of the house

i dont even get nervous

charliecat · 09/08/2007 07:43

I snort. When I laugh.

zippitippitoes · 09/08/2007 07:59

well I think that is probably less off putting than a fifty year old behaving like a 15 year old who has never had a boyfriend before...

it's not that I even want a relationship..just like you say I thought going out would be ok/fun/interesting but I think I'm just going to find it tortuous..it would be easier if there were local possibilities..though the thought of bumping into them again would be awful

Girly · 09/08/2007 08:00

Where did you meet this guy from zippi? I can give no advice I'm afraid, I get attacks of the nerves too. It should be fine once you meet up, I am ok face to face and with a couple of drinks to loosen me up. Have you fixed a date yet?

zippitippitoes · 09/08/2007 08:08

guardian soulmates

I think he is going to send me a thanks but no thanks email this morning...bizarrely I dreamt about him!

zippitippitoes · 09/08/2007 09:34

well i told him my dream and asked if he wanted to meet me for lunch one day..

thought i might as well push him to say yes or no

allgonebellyup · 09/08/2007 11:06

And..what happened??

zippitippitoes · 09/08/2007 11:11

despite me telling him I dreamt about him (in which amongst other things I got my hand stuck down the back of his trousers)

he says come and give him a ring

lou33 · 09/08/2007 12:17

lol cc

zippi he sounds quite keen

Girly · 09/08/2007 15:44

go for it zippi! go on call him, he sounds sweet.

zippitippitoes · 09/08/2007 15:54

I've told himm I'd see him for lunch and now he's talking about having an afternoon off..I think I might get bored of him by the end of lunch though..but perhaps he will be good practice ...I have a feeling that I'm not going to really be that interested when i see him..having got him all keen

I don't think I really want anyone just some inkling of the possibilities...I was a bit horrified at the thought of no sex ever again with a handsome bloke when dp went to be honest (apart from missing him for him of course)..this is the problem with relationships with younger men...older ones do look very uninspiring
