My 40th was the worst birthday ever - my ex- got is so wrong that it revealed all the cracks in the relationship and actually broke something. My 50th as a LP was brilliant - for the first time, I chose what I wanted to do, got those people I love the most involved and had a brilliant weekend of it.

So - Happy Birthday for today! It will get better. Think about what would make you most happy and make it happen. You could have a 40th birthday party in 6 months time!

Im generally ok but birthdays are crap. I did plan to get a tattoo as its something I've never done & i thought would mark it in an empowering way but I've absolutely no idea how to go about getting one!

That sounds like a great plan. I turn 40 this year and hadn't thought of doing that but it's a great idea
