I'm sorry noone rememberered your day - are your kids old enough to make a fuss of you following a subtle reminder? Mine are 6 and 8 and would make me a card if I reminded them. I have my 40th in a few months time and really want to forget all about it though

I too am a lone parent, I forced my child to remember and get me a present for my 40th. We were camping on my actual birthday and amazingly all the people I was with on the site (lone parent holiday!!) got me a cake, a card and some fizz.

The trick is to tell everyone you know, loudly and often, that it's your birthday and shame them into making it a good one. I do it every year!

dd mentioned it on Saturday but nothing this morning!
Dm is in hospital & df worrying about her.
I think it just highlights how lonely I am, didn't seem to matter not having a group of local friends when I was married, I had someone by my side, we had eachother's back.
