I used to plan my own, very simple, ask the DCs to make me a card and give them extra pocket money to buy us all a tub of sweets.

Happy Birthday! It's tough being a January baby but Capricorns are good at the tough stuff. We have our birthdays at the start of the year because other signs couldn't handle it!
The great thing about being 40 and single is you can truly call the shots for yourself and answer to no one. Why don't you pick a date you like in the summer and have your half birthday. Get planning and saving for something you would love to do. For yourself! Really celebrate.

Yes you are right i am strong normally & don't even want a man, i would like you lovely MNers as friends though. I moved away 15 years ago & found it very hard making friends here

If it's any consolation, I had supposedly loving DP when I turned 40 and had to buy my own cake. A man won't necessarily sort your birthday out -- best to make your own plans.

I have my 40th this week too and I just know that my four siblings will forget, just as they have for the last twenty years.
