Kewcumber · 15/03/2009 19:18

Am I th eonly person who burns to a crisp in mid-march in the UK?

I may have to start a thread on it - feeling like a stupid tourist (thats not blush thats my colour - arms, decollete (SP)? and face)

rosmerta · 15/03/2009 20:04

no you're not Kew, dh is a bit red today!

sfxmum · 15/03/2009 20:23

I hope it is not painful Kew

weirdly dd who has dh's hair and eye colour and generally looks like him ,seems to have inherited more my skin tone and does not really go bright pink in the sun

OP posts:
SushiMummy · 16/03/2009 09:53

lovely morning!

sfx - my DS inherited my skin tone, too, he can go brown rather than pink/red. DH is v pale and he goes bright red and gets freckles under the sun.

Going to see doc this week about my coughs. I couldn't sleep as I coughed so much (my ribs hurt!). I may have asthma.

MrsRecycle · 16/03/2009 10:53

I think you do have it Sushi - the cough you had on Friday was just like mine and my asthma keeps me awake. It's not too bad, as long as you control it - so take the preventative (brown one) even though you don't have any attacks. Good luck at the Doctor's.

A lovely day - have ds with me today as CM dd has an awful infection on her face and wants to take her to the docs - hard when she has 4 LOs to look after. Was thinking about going to Northola fields but I have a pile of washing (dd1's from last week) that I need to get done.

mygreatauntgriselda · 16/03/2009 10:56

Sushi hope you are Ok and don't have asthma

Kew sorry to hear you got burnt!!! Bwetter get th Factor 50 out today 'cos its gonna be 17 degrees in London

Yay!!!

My swim is tomorrow and I currently have nearly £2,000 with over £400 pledged!!!
NSPCC have sent press releases out!!!

MrsRecycle · 16/03/2009 11:28

auntie - 2k that is amazing ! Congratulations you must be very proud of yourself.

sfxmum · 16/03/2009 17:29

hello all what a gorgeous day!

sushi hope it is not too bad and you get some effective treatment fast

auntie that is fab good luck for tomorrow

mrsR housework never stopped me going out hope you got to enjoy the sun

SJ lovely to see you and the LOs, we had a mini meltdown on our way home soon sorted because dd was just too tired to argue much

btw I posted a couple of pics for yesterday and today on FB if anyone wants anything removed please say so, sorry if I forgot to ask permission from anyone, the old brain is tired

OP posts:
mellow2 · 16/03/2009 18:17

Well done, auntie! Enjoy your swim tomorrow.

Sushi - I had a terrible dry cough for 6 weeks that 3 doses of Robitussin cured. Have you tried that?

Sfx and sj - Wish I could have joined you. Instead we had a very busy day with the shop(s) and our first cheeky bid on the flat. . It makes me hopeful that we will sell the place before September.

MrsRecycle · 16/03/2009 18:18

Lovely pictures sfx - we did manage a trek up one of the hills at Northola and ds played in the park there. Nearly conquered the washing but dd1 has just brought down some more muddy clothes.

Right I must get out tomorrow - anyone free/fancy doing anything? (assuming weather is nice again)

SJ99 · 16/03/2009 19:03

Auntie - that's great news, good luck for tomorrow

Sfx - really nice to see you & DD DS1 said he very much liked playing with minisfx. 1st thing he asked when he got home was to look at the pictures nice piccies btw

Sushi - good luck at docs, fingers crossed it's not asthma

Mellow - that's encouraging news about your flat, hope to see you soon

MrsR - can sympathise, my washing pile seems neverending. Glad you enjoyed Northala

MrsRecycle · 16/03/2009 19:11

mellow - congrats on the offer let's hope it continues upwards - can you sprinkle some dust over my way?

sfxmum · 16/03/2009 20:19

Mellow that is great let's hope new offers come up, another day for meet up

mrsR I imagine tomorrow dd will be exhausted after nursery so can't do meet ups my next proper free day is Friday

question
can anyone recommend blackout material or just proper lining for curtains online please
I think my light curtains need darkening if we are to get any sleep in the coming months
TIA

slng · 16/03/2009 20:50

Hello all!

SFX - I get our blackout lining from Mothercare and the Great Little Trading Company, and blackout blinds from Argos.

MrsR - going into town tomorrow. Can meet people for lunch in chinatown

sfxmum · 16/03/2009 20:51

thanks slng

rosmerta · 16/03/2009 21:19

evening all, been on my course today, nice to have some 'me' time

Mellow, good luck with the offer!

MrsR, ds1 in nursery tomorrow so not around for meeting up. Can do next week sometime though

pcworld · 16/03/2009 21:20

Auntie, am sooo impressed with your sponsorship. Good luck for tomorrow

Mellow - wow good news re: your flat eh?

SFX - I would have thought maybe John Lewis for blackout lining? I bought some from Aspace in their sale last year and it has been excellent although I may end up getting a blind, too.

stepfordwife · 16/03/2009 21:35

hi all
many thanks for birthday wishes here and on FB..
senior citizen indeed, cheeky YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE (sfx).
had lovely evening of solitude on friday, then had a night with dh.
it's our anniversary tomorrow - 8 years married (together 14). it's all too much - my bday, our anniversary, st patrick's day and mother's day all within 10 days...get sick to the gills of looking at cards

shame i missed two meet-ups, but sounds like you had a luvverly time.

auntie - good luck for tomorrow. you've done so well raising all that sponsorship.

fingers crossed for selling your flat, mellow. when we were trying to sell our last houes, i kept saying to dh:"it just takes one person to fall in love with it..you only need one buyer."..(bit like husbands)

just back from my pilates class. i'm deeply rubbish at it. doesn't help that when we were supposed to be isolating our shoulder girdle or some such nonsense, i was despairing at my bingo wings in the nice full-length mirror

right, bath and early night with my book i think, got to get my beauty sleep so i look like the seven months pregnant-- lump blushing bride dh married...
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 16/03/2009 21:38

oh and mrs.r, would love to meet up tomorrow, especially as going to be sunny again, but working.
hope you get an offer for your house soon, too.
are you getting viewings?

mygreatauntgriselda · 16/03/2009 21:40

Steppy hope that means extra choc and wine 4 U this week

I'd recommend Argos mega cheap black out blinds - you can stick them behind the curtains, in the inner window

Am trying not to think about swim tomorrow but slightly worried local paper may turn up and want pic in cozzie

sfxmum · 16/03/2009 22:14

auntie oh go on practice your demure pose with strategically placed accessories let us now what issue carries the pin up

steppie glad you had a nice time
do keep up with Pilates it works

our wedding anniversary, 7th is next Friday, just over 13 yrs together Blimey time flies

OP posts:
sfxmum · 16/03/2009 22:15

and thanks all for the tips on blinds/linings

SJ dd told dh at dnner about your ds's hugs and cuddles, he might want words with the young man

OP posts:
MrsRecycle · 17/03/2009 10:03

Happy Wedding Anniversary Steppie - sounds like you had lots of fun for your birthday (my idea of heaven actually). We are averaging 3 viewings a week. Everyone likes it, so they go off and put they're property on the market. Wish we could only show to those "under offer" but beggars can't be choosers eh?

Good luck today Auntie, hope it all goes well and you manage a well deserved drink at the end of it.

SJ99 · 17/03/2009 10:18

morning all

MrsR- also a nursery day for us so that means I've got to do my jobs, is it sad to be excited about hanging washing outside?

steppie - Happy Anniversary I am thinking of starting pilates, I'm a complete novice, hoping it's something I can do when kiddies tucked up in bed

Sfx - LOL, DS1 told his teacher all about his trip yesterday when I dropped him off this morning

As for blackout stuff, we have Ikea blinds for DS2 & custom made ones for Ds1 room as window is ridiculously wide

mygreatauntgriselda · 17/03/2009 10:30
