note: expecting a visitation from baby jesus in our fridge seemed quite reasonable to my irish catholic mum...think she was quite disappointed at less than divine babybel

AtheneNoctua · 29/12/2008 11:18

Can everyone please see Quokkas meet-up thread? I'm getting a bit bored with talking to myself.

Quokka meet-up Jan. 09 at Wagamama in Richmond

sparklyxmasfairy · 29/12/2008 11:41

steppie LOL sorry about the bugs they seem to be everywhere this Christmas

pc dd built a nest on the sofa and is not moving

rosmerta · 29/12/2008 13:23

steppie ! Sorry about the bugs, hope you all feel better.

We've just tried Ikea & Brent Cross, if you're thinking of going - don't. No parking & far too busy!

Btw, can anyone recommend a cleaner who will come to Brentford?

SJ99 · 29/12/2008 14:37

Afternoon all

Steppie - LOL at Babybel story Sorry to hear about bugs, they're certainly doing the rounds. DS2 has practically lost his voice poor thing (DH thinks this is good).

Anyway managed to meet a friend at brand, spanking new Starbucks today which was good but blimey, such an effort to get out of the house with 2 of them but it was lovely walk once out.

PCW - pity about the cake, her recipes usually are spot on

Sfx - still indoors? Glad choc got thumbs up, must go and get some myself now!

Sushi - enjoy Kew, unfotunately can't join you as have hospital appmt.

Baby crying, go to go

mygreatauntgriselda4christmas · 29/12/2008 18:35

BayJesus!! Steppy LOL at your Mum!!! Just shows how holy she is that she assumes everyone is talking about Jesus all the time

Ros "baby crying" awwww [broody emoticon]

My cleaner finishes this week but I can ask her replacement next week if she wants another job in Brentford if you like? Current one is fab and her friend seems lovely.

Steppy are you switching to same new cleaner too?

Had breakast a Tide Tables under Richmond Bridge this morning, generously supplied by an old friend who owns it. It turned into a reunion for about 10 of us who've known each other 20 years and we didn't get home until 4pm!!

All meeting again on New Years Eve to see 2009 in

Steppy sorry to hear about the Streppy

Athene - you have my full sympathies - IKWYM about selfish and warped parents - mine can be like that sometimes - its draining isn't it?

Am a it addicted to FB ATM and looking up loads of old friends...

sparklyxmasfairy · 29/12/2008 20:34

mellow - meant to mention earlier that your gift boxes and its contents where a huge success, many thanks

SJ we did not go out today but plan to tomorrow, I think we both needed a quiet day, but a run around would do us some good too.

I need to write an essay to finish the course which I should have done before Christmas cut off date is 16/01 so realistically has to be in the post early on the 14th anyone placing bets?
best recap and draw a plan I guess

auntie your meet up sounds quite nice as are the plans to see the in the New year

I think we will be home sharing a glass or two of champagne and any leftovers can be bucks fizz for breakfast

SushiMummy · 30/12/2008 08:00

Morning all. Freezing cold outside!

Ros - we will probably be at C&C late morning but DS has a cold so we'll see how he is tomorrow.

sfx - good luck with the essay. I'm sure you'll make it on time (no betting though).

sj - poor DS2. Hope he recovers soon.

steppie - lol at babybell story. Hope all on the mend.

auntie - reunion sounds lovely. I love the place under the bridge.

athene - bet you can't wait to leave your old job!

ComeOVeneer · 30/12/2008 10:35

Morning all. What a cold one. Aparrently it is forecast (not around here I presume but elsewhere in the UK) for a very cold spell, down to -13o at night . At least it is lovely and bright.

Athene hope the rest of the week goes quickly, are you straight into the new job or having a break?

Hope everyone is well and have avoided/recovered from all the lurgy going around. DD has had a cold and hacking cough for 3 weeks now, is fine in herself (apart from absolutely knackered after 3 days with the cousins over christmas, christmas day started at 2.30am, then 3.15am etc you get the picture, but hopefully the ABs will kick in soon.

I have to spend the day cooking/baking for NYE. We have been invited up to ILs (fair enough s we spent xmas with my side of the family) unfortunately fil had knee replacement surgery recently and isn't up to cooking, and mil isn't much of a cook, so yours truly has been landed with it. Nibbles (thai crab cakes with chilli dipping sauce, wild mushroom tatlets and beef satay with peanut sauce), starter (crab, avocado and smoked salmon terrine with melba toast), main (creamy chicken, porcini mushroom and pumpkin with wild and basmati rice), cheeses then dessert (expresso pannacotta with dark chocolate sauce) and homemade truffles. Should keep me busy today! DD also wants to make a gingerbread house (kit bought half price in post christmas sales) but I have my doubts.

If I don't return before, "HAPPY NEW YEAR" to one and all

sparklyxmasfairy · 30/12/2008 11:35

good morning all

COV sounds like hard work but quite yummy hope you enjoy it

sushi thanks for the vote of confidence , I think my desire to tackle the pile of fiction will make me finish this study thing quickly

perhaps it is too cold to venture to the park but I need stuff for dinner so must pop to shops at some point.

am so keen on going for a run but will have to wait, am hoping dh will take the day off tomorrow instead of Friday.
he kindly gave me a fancy running watch and Murakami's book on running so I guess he wants to keep me motivated I expect he sees the benefits of a saner wife.

hope everyone is well

pcworld · 30/12/2008 13:39

Wow, Cov - yum!!! I was thinking of getting an M&S ready meal for tomorrow night lol! Yip, it is wayy too cold - even for me - to go out! Am totally losing motivation. We managed a short trip to Kew Retail Park earlier to pick up a few bits and are now back home in the warmth! Hope everyone is ok. I'm actually looking forward to New Year's Eve! Not that we're doing anything spectacular.

mellow2 · 30/12/2008 14:29

Hello everyone,

Hope LOs with colds are feeling better and everyone (even those that are under the weather) had a nice Christmas.

We've been quite busy visiting dh's family. It has calmed down a bit now.

Auntie - Sounds like you had a great time at your reunion. I would really like to return your books before I forget - again. I've had them for far too long. Is there a good day to drop them off?

Sparkly fairy - Glad that rellies liked gift boxes from the shop.

rosmerta · 30/12/2008 16:12

Hi all, have been for a lovely but freezing walk at Richmond Park.

Auntie, sounds like a great reunion . It would be great if you could ask your cleaner if she wants any more work. It would only be a couple of hours a week.

Sushi, let me know about tomorrow though its my first full day with both boys so am not sure if we'll make it out of the house! But we will try.

mygreatauntgriselda4christmas · 30/12/2008 18:03

Brrrrrrrrrr

SFX - have you used your gadget yet?

Was contemplating swim th evening but will go tomorrow moring instead

Ros - will ask new cleaner next week when she comes, if that's OK

Had Plasma TV delivered

Its MASSIVE!!...(as the actress said to the Bishop)

Spending too much time on FB finding old friends and new

Went to visit an ex, from about 22 years ago. He is in hostpital with a nuerological disorder (is bid ridden). His sister took me and it was lovely to see him. He wants me to toke the DCs so he can meet them....I have tried to warn him how wild they are (they will wreck the joint!)

HEY LISTEN: I HAVE BEEN INVITED TO A PROPER GROWN UP'S NYE PARTY TOMORROW

Wahayyy!!

rosmerta · 30/12/2008 18:36

thanks auntie, next week is fine. A proper NYE party? Don't know when we'll get to one of them again

SJ99 · 30/12/2008 19:06

Auntie - reunion sounds wild. Enjoy the big screen! Also at NYE plans. I am actually hoping to be in bed before midnight this year

Sfx - good luck for essay

Ros - I'm sure you'll be fine tom. I have to the joy of DH being away 2 nights next week, zikes. Can also ask my cleaner if she wants extra work if you like although she doesn't speak any English - just let me know...

I'm v. worried about DS2, he's struggling to keep down some of his feeds as of last night and was awake every other hr again . To top it off DS1 teething so not much fun here. Had HV appmt anyway today, he has lost a bit of weight too, so will take him to docs tom to be on the safe side

SJ99 · 30/12/2008 19:10

Meant to add thanks v much for sling Mellow - it has proven to be v. handy esp these past few days as DS2 unable to settle

rosmerta · 30/12/2008 20:09

Sj, would be great if you could ask your cleaner. Sorry to hear about ds2, I'm sure he'll be fine though. A friend was telling me when I was pg that you worry less about any subsequent dcs, I don't think you do really! Hope ds1 isn't teething for too long either.

pcworld · 30/12/2008 20:11

Oh dear, SJ - I hope ds2 has a better night tonight, what a worry for you. And of course you must be exhausted. Hope things pick up soon. Ros - hope your first day flying solo goes well. Don't try to do too much!! I'm much more of a homebody than I ever used to be at the moment partly due to tiredness but mostly due to the cold.

Auntie - am sooooooooooo jealous of a proper grown-up party. Although I am still - for once - actually looking forward to NYE. This year has been tricky so am hoping for a better '09. DH and I will be in with some shampers although I'll pop into a neighbourhood party with dd for a while too.

Perhaps I will try and bake something nice for tomorrow although am currently in a major huff with Nigella

sparklyxmasfairy · 30/12/2008 20:29

SJ I hope things improve I am sure it is worrying do see the doctor to ease your mind, hope manage t have some rest.

ros we might make it to Kew at some point as today's outing was quite short at dd's insistence

auntie sounds great hope you have a lovely time

pcworld marks are some offers on party food and cava was tempted today as family might drop by over the next few days

think dinner tomorrow will be pizza or macaroni cheese and for new year breakfast home made muffins or M&S panetone, leftover make a nice bread and butter pudding type of thing

dh will be working tomorrow but has promised to go in late so I can run for a bit, expect it will be freezing

rosmerta · 31/12/2008 06:57

Sfx, I'll let you knoe if we're going. Ds1 has come down with a cold & cough so will see how he's feeling.

mellow2 · 31/12/2008 09:28

SJ,
Glad that the sling has come in handy. Hope ds2 is better today.

Ros,
Hope ds1's cold is short lived.

Pcworld,
I'm hoping for a better 2009 too. 2008 has been a bit of a non-starter for me. Btw, I keep mistaking you for paddle.

Sushi,
Hope mini sushi's cold is better. Would have loved to meet up but Kew is too cold for me.

mellow2 · 31/12/2008 09:30

Auntie - too at grown-up NYE party. Have fun.

ComeOVeneer · 31/12/2008 09:39

Dur I thought pcworld was paddle to, whoi are you then (that will teach me for letting RL interfere with my mning time).
