sfx - that's amazing.

steppie - hurrah! I would love to be able to come and see your spanking new kitchen

sj- dd loves the Vtech. Thanks for recommending it. I've been on business calls for 2 hours and she hasn't banged on her pots and pans once. She's been telling me all day how much she loves her Macbook. She thinks she's got a junior version of my Apple Macbook. [smile}

slng · 09/02/2009 19:41

Last day of CNY celebrations. Decorations are down ... No more holidays/celebrations till Easter.

Steppie - can I come to the kitchen-warming party too?

Mellow - did you get to make the sourdough bread? (Seem to remember a conversation many moons ago.) Did it work out?

sfx - you are a genius. Bangers and mash for us too!

sfxmum · 10/02/2009 09:44

good morning all

slng thank you not often called genius yum yum

auntie does the box do lots of tricks? dh does not get anywhere near the telly and assorted paraphernalia on the odd occasion he does he calls me to make it work, blah calls himself a techie

took dd to nursery, not very easy 'let go' but not the worst, had a chat with staff today and was told more about how she is there, felt a bit more reassured as they had noticed the need to provide dd and a couple of other girls with specific activities

hope everyone is well today

sfxmum · 10/02/2009 09:46

and slng there is mother's day and pancake day should you need to fit in celebrations

SJ99 · 10/02/2009 09:59

Morning all

Mellow - so glad DD likes pc, DS2 is very good on it and can keep him preoccupied for ages

Steppie - no rush for boxes, just let me know when you're free, will be nice to see you Bet you're excited about your new kitchen

Sfx - glad dd not too bad at going to nursery today

I'm a bit concerned, I put a banana in my pocket, went to get a load of washing on, now I can't find my banana I really hope it hasn't fallen into my washing and is now floating round the washing machine, eeek

SJ99 · 10/02/2009 10:10

Ok panic over, found it on floor next to washing m/c, phew

sfxmum · 10/02/2009 10:27

SJ a banana load still was wondering if the skin would hold and it would come out poached or it would explode and smear everything, well we will never know

SJ99 · 10/02/2009 10:31

I was envisioning the smearing option...

stepfordwife · 10/02/2009 11:56

oh lord...now you've made me want to, really, really want to put a banana on hot wash....

ok SJ, that's fab about boxes.but will give you a shout.

don't know about a kitchen warming. don't want to actually use it, just want to look at it [wink} {grin}
will deffo have a MN kitchen-warming sometime - all welcome!

now then, has anyone seen slumdog millionaire or what?!

stepfordwife · 10/02/2009 11:56

sfxmum · 10/02/2009 17:54

for anyone interested in picture books for children BBC4 did a series late last year and they are repeating it this week it is lovely
here is link to first episode

sfxmum · 10/02/2009 17:59

and I am a horrible person because I just could not resist asking if an umbrella was involved in the Rhianna incident
I know domestic abuse is horrible

FriarKewcumber · 11/02/2009 09:32

I am still alive (honest) - is anyone around at the weekend? Probably about time I actually took DS out to meet someone to play with!

sfxmum · 11/02/2009 16:24

hi all

KC hi nice to see you about, no idea about weekend as yet

here we had a disturbed night cough and snot, no nursery today.
been busy cleaning organising the kitchen cupboards, can barely contain my excitement

found teabags and tinned fish from 2005

SJ99 · 11/02/2009 16:48

Hello all

Sfx - LOl at finding store cupboard essentials Sorry to hear DD not feeling well, hope she recovers quickly.

Hi KC - we will be grounded for next week as am going to start potty training at wkend, have deliberately not planned any social events for next week, I will probably go stir crazy!

Steppie - not seen film but my parents have and they really enjoyed (it if that's anything to go by). I'll get it on dvd I think when it comes out

Ros - lovely to see you and your boys earlier, we had lots of fun

sfxmum · 11/02/2009 16:58

SJ am sure it will be fine they learn quickly

steppie barely saw that as cinema seems to be a thing of the past for me, not seen it

FriarKewcumber · 11/02/2009 17:01

I went to see Rachel getting MArried for my birthday with a friend - AND I DIDN'T FALL ASLEEP!

mygreatauntgriselda · 11/02/2009 17:27

FriarKew- sorry I will be in Majorca with DD, having girly mini-break

SJ - PMSL at your banana panic. Reminds me of the time when DH and I went to a Music Village concert at Greenwhich Park.

A guy in front of us had put a banana in his back pocket and clearly forgotten about it.

After being sat on several times, it was hanging out of his back pocket, all brown, squashed and deliciously limp as they say!

The entire audience seated behind him were in hysterical giggles for about 20 minutes, as everytime he stood up we could see it hanging there

BTW have seen Steppies kitchen and it is ultra fab!!

pcworld · 11/02/2009 18:21

Evening all. Ros/SJ - sorry about earlier. Got some of my stuff, but not all, done this morning. Luckily it is not a disaster with the car, just a brake light sensor that will cost under a tenner to fix at our very nice local (and honest!) garage. Had a poncy lunch at the High Road House members club today - enjoyed the company but I have to say that the food was a big let-down. I could have done better myself!

SFX, hope dd is better soon. Cupboard clear-outs are always interesting, eh?

SJ - hope you have bought about 20 pairs of pants for next week!

Am feeling a desperate urge for a LOT of chocolate tonight. Luckily (I guess) the car is still at the garage and I am too lazy to walk down to the shops.

Kew, how are you doing? Is it still a 5 day week for you?

SJ99 · 12/02/2009 10:03

Morning all

PCW - Shame about the food, glad you enjoyed the outing though. LOL yes I have bought loads of pants, dreading the thought of doing all that extra washing, I already seem to do a ridiculous amount without adding extra pants/trousers and bananas to the load

Auntie - at banana in pocket story, sounds pretty grim! Enjoy your girly break!

DS1 has his next round of allergy testing today so off to hospital later. Will just have a chill out day apart from that trip, don't the energy for much else!

sfxmum · 12/02/2009 10:51

good morning all

SJ hope all goes well at the hospital

auntie girly break how lovely

pcW grown up meal in private club sounds like a treat shame about the food

another indoors day propping eyelids, mine that is because dd seems quite energetic, she probably would have been fine going to nursery but I was so tired this morning I overslept and dh a assumed she would be staying home

oh well, her breathing was awful last night I kept boiling water to make steam and eventually she seemed to be breathing better

best get on with tidying some more cupboards

slng · 12/02/2009 10:55

Morning all!

Just been to DS1's assembly. Very cute. But gender-stereotyping well and alive in school, I think.

SJ - potty-training not always very bad. DS1 was only about 5 on the scale of 1 to 10 of "badness" (10 being monstrous), I think, from the stories I hear, and DS2 was on the par with angels when it came to toilet training. Fingers crossed for you! We started with 13 pairs of second hand pants, and never did run out.

OP posts:
sfxmum · 13/02/2009 09:12

good morning all

slng did not know parents attended assembly, actually don't really know much about assembly or primary school in general but guess I will this time next year

am off to the hairdressers later this morning with little cough machine, she loved having her haircut but hates having it brushed

hope everyone is well

mygreatauntgriselda · 13/02/2009 11:07

SFX you only attend if your little darling is helping run it and has a role. The classes all take turns to run it.

When its your precious's assembly, there is a mad dash for seats by the parents, who all want to get the best viewing spot. Its Dog Eat Dog !!
