Oooo!!! I get to start a new thread!!!

Hope you find me!

Well no day off for me. The ILs are practically snowed in & the lack of salt means the roads have barely been gritted.

Sfx, realised I didn't answer your question earlier. The first aid thing wasn't for my course, was just something the HV was doing for new mums. I went for hot chocolate instead

rosmerta · 07/02/2009 08:39

Slng, hope you didn't have nightmares last night

sfxmum · 07/02/2009 09:21

good morning all

slng I loved Dracula such a fantastic book nothing like the silly movie adaptations

SJ I think if we get all the west London LO's together they can teach each other a bunch of languages it is a bit like the UN it is really nice that they are exposed to so many different ones

Ros sorry about the absence of break I hope you can just be the 'floating' parent instead, that is what I call when dh is about and dd only engages with him

I think we are off to Kingston for a spot of shopping and lunch (suggestions?)

btw just got the Kew Swing early booking form and we are definitely going it was great last year but I hope the weather will be a bit better

SJ99 · 07/02/2009 11:29

Slng - Wallander weas always on Swedish tv but I never watched it, I think it might be too scary for me, I'll definitely end up with nightmares!

Ros - pity about IL's trip, hope you still get some rest.

Sfx - Like the sound of multi languauge meet up, the DC would be well confused never mind the adults!
Off to Kingston soon myself need to do a massive Boots shop. Depends what type of food you're after, loads of quick eat type places in Bentall's centre. Otherwise if you want a treat, I love the restaurant in JL, bit pricey though. Lots of other places dotted along side the river. Have fun

Making the most of my parents visiting and we had our 1st night without baby last night, went to a friend's birthday party

mygreatauntgriselda · 07/02/2009 13:52

SFX which Swing concert will you go to?

SJ I love the Kite Runner - it has everything: politics, family, social commentry, relationshipsetc. 1,000 Splendid Suns is great too. I felt very bitter by the end of it, for the crap lives and complete lack of choice thatso many people have. We are very privilaged to live in this country, have a democracy, clean running water, freedom of speach etc. A lot of people's lives are horrible

Just off to Wndsor to see a friend and do some shopping for DS1 who is GOING AWAY next week with his school for THREE DAYS!!! He s only eight!!! He is so excite he cant sleep!

sfxmum · 07/02/2009 17:21

hi all

SJ thanks for tips, all of them
hope you enjoyed the free time, lovely treat

we went too get a cardi for dd because I forgot to put one on under her jacket and it was freezing but she managed to come away with coordinated backpack and trainers - the girl is good
got some treats for myself too

auntie I think we will go for Bjorn Again because I was outvoted think will brush up on my Abba so I can sing along

also regarding choice,I can feel the difference from where I grew up to here especially when it comes to being a woman let alone on war ravaged impoverished societies we all know women and children their lives choices and rights will always be the first casualties

rosmerta · 07/02/2009 17:22

We got our booking forms for Summer Swing as well. Don't think we'll be able to go though, not just dcs but cost of it as well .

I've still got people's books from the book swap we did about a million years ago . I really need to give them back before I lose them!

Dh has taken ds1 out today so I went for a walk with ds2 & did some studying in the cafe while he slept. Best of both worlds!

sfxmum · 07/02/2009 17:28

Ros dd went last time and there were lots of people with babies
as for cost it is steep but I like having something to look forward to

mrshc · 07/02/2009 20:09

hello ladies, sorry to hijack your thread. you've been talking about lovely films it seems but has someone mentioned chris and pui from cbeebies? we in my house are missing them terribly; if you are too please please please sign my online petition to hopefully have them brought back...doubtful but one never knows! thanks in advance.

mygreatauntgriselda · 07/02/2009 20:21

Mrs H

Ros - can't believe you are studying with Baby and small boy - well done!!

SFX you are so right about rights - the people with the least power are those who lose them first

sfxmum · 07/02/2009 21:16

my daughter's new skill she has been practising this since the Christmas cracker joke was explained to her

slng · 07/02/2009 21:34

sfx - LOL!

OP posts:
mygreatauntgriselda · 07/02/2009 21:53

SFX Love it!! (but what's with the Boston Chicago accent?)

sfxmum · 07/02/2009 22:03

she did this to send to grampa who spent ages doing jokes with her

mygreatauntgriselda · 07/02/2009 22:08

Is he from Chicago?

sfxmum · 07/02/2009 22:11

no he is Irish no idea about the Chicago thing she seems do do assorted random accents very Californian when our friends were over

mygreatauntgriselda · 07/02/2009 22:59

Interesting - I think the Chicago accent is heavily Irish influenced!

She is very cute!

SJ99 · 08/02/2009 10:30

Sfx - v.cute glad you enjoyed yourself and got some goodies. I came back armed with potty training stuff amongst other things, I'm going to start over half term, eek.

Auntie - I liked Kite Runner too, but ending was bit lame!

sfxmum · 08/02/2009 11:01

SJ good luck with potty training, I really think that when they are ready you can crack it in a week, bar the odd accident but that is to be expected

autie/SJ thanks she is my PFB and only one

dh working today but when in late so I could go running, what a relief it had been nearly 2 weeks
will probably stay close to home this afternoon maybe pop to the shops for a few bits, might do lollipop tomorrow should anyone like to join us

MrsRecycle · 08/02/2009 11:51

Sfx might join you tomorrow (weather permitting). Ds and I were going to make/paint a garage but he'd enjoy getting out i'm sure of that.

Sj good luck - we had a solid week indoors and it was a lot easier than I thought.

I am going to Holland for half term, on my own with 3 LO's - taking eurostar to Brussels then train to Amsterdam then off to Hilversum. We are staying with our old au pair (the one you met Athene). Am really excited by dh thinks I'm mad. Watch this space lol.

sfxmum · 08/02/2009 15:54

mrsR if it is not raining we will go probably at around 11, we usually walk there, might try and get dd's hair cut too (but not at lollipop)

mellow2 · 08/02/2009 16:40

sfx - We'll join you as well. I'll text you before we leave.

mygreatauntgriselda · 08/02/2009 17:14

Hi I might join you too SFX at 11ish at Lollipop - haven't been there for ages and DS2 is big enough to chubba aroud in there and have fun now.

Will walk if not raining, like you, but foecast is dire (I just walked back from Richmond in the rain)

sfxmum · 08/02/2009 17:28

I think it is snow and rain on the pm think will risk it will text all 3 of you when/ if we go

MrsRecycle · 08/02/2009 18:50

I'll aim to get there around 11 - if anyone wants a lift there/back, I have plenty of space in my car. It will be really nice to see you all and LO's - it has been ages.
