Auntie - it does look v. pretty indeed. only one snowman left standing though but it's not ours, his head fell off yesterday
Thanks for link, will do sponsorship today!

KC - hope you get chance for a celebration over the weekend. Fingers crossed your balance sheet balances soon, I know how frustrating that can be

Sfx - not a running day, too slip slidy outside. You could run up and down the stairs in your building if you get deseperate!

FriarKewcumber · 04/02/2009 15:39

balance sheets now balance (al three) but new accoutant (I buried previous one under the patio) has started posting into the months I have closed [duh].

We have all three 'no-men still standing - Mummy Daddy and baby (and yes baby is actually in DS's pushchair)

mygreatauntgriselda · 04/02/2009 15:49

Awwww to the three snowmen!!

FriarKewcumber · 04/02/2009 16:01

snow pictures are now on profile.

sfxmum · 04/02/2009 16:09

you know how I used to worry about dd not eating much and endlessly fretting about it? well she is currently a munching machine

so much ice about we skated a lot on our way to and from nursery

SJ99 · 04/02/2009 17:11

Sfx - Glad DD is eating well. DS1 not eating hardly anything due to teething which has been going on for mths, grrr. Spread some munching vibes over this way please

sfxmum · 04/02/2009 19:46

S

sfxmum · 04/02/2009 19:49

SJ -munching vibes going your way, I think it is a growth spurt, not only is she eating loads she is sleeping loads too, has been in bed since 7.20pm for us

mygreatauntgriselda · 04/02/2009 20:56

We've booked to go to Ireland YAY!!! (despite the pound/euro)

SJ - thanks for your sponsorship for the swim!!!

mygreatauntgriselda · 04/02/2009 20:56

SFX your DD is looking so grown up nowadays!

sfxmum · 05/02/2009 11:14

good morning all

dh dispatched to work child at nursery oh listen to that....silence

mygreatauntgriselda · 05/02/2009 12:55

Bliss eh SFX?

MrsR and Steppy - just want to say thanx for your kind donations to the NSPCC swim !!!

sfxmum · 05/02/2009 14:30

just a question to experienced mums please

dd has been going on about having secrets and that she can't tell me which I did not read much into it other than nursery chat between children, she did mention that another child had said that to her

then today she told me she was a having a difficult time at nursery and that she could not tell me why as it was a secret, well am a bit stumped she was fine when I picked her up and has been keen to go to nursery everyday this week
any ideas? was thinking I should just have a quick chat with one of the teachers next time

slng · 05/02/2009 16:12

DS1 fell over and has an enormous bruise on his forehead . The staff said he fell over while looking behind him, but he said he fell over while looking at his feet to see how fast he was going

More "severe weather warning". No school tomorrow then, I guess.

sfx - sorry can't help. My children did go through a phase of "secrets" (now it's "jokes") but they tell their secrets immediately.

OP posts:
MrsRecycle · 05/02/2009 16:56

sfx - poor you and dd. I told dd2 that she should never have any secrets thatshe couldn't tell her parents - no matter how bad they were or who told her to keep it a secret. She then told me someone was hurting her. Tbh lo's of your dds age arenot renowned for keeping secrets so I would see if you could find out what is troubling her poor thing.

sfxmum · 05/02/2009 17:53

slng oh no poor ds

thanks both, dd often uses words she does not fully understands and she can use over dramatic language but will talk to them ,she seems to have started developing relationships with other children of the sort 'she is my best friend' 'I hate her she is mean'

mygreatauntgriselda · 05/02/2009 18:55

Slng, sorry to hear about DS's accident! Poor thing - tell him to look in front nect time, not at his feet (Bless!!)

SFX - all that talk of "best friends" etc is so girly. Girls are always falling in and out of frienships and it gets a bit intense when they come home and tell you so and so won't play with them etc.

DD has also been saying some very odd and disturbing things, which basically hint at teachers making racist remarks about DH, though I suspect its the children and she is excaggerating a bit for attention.

You could ask her to share her secrets and promise to tell her one of yours in return I guess, just to ensure there is no underlying matter of concern.

We have a got a letter in hthe school packs saying that due to the esevere weather warning for London tomorrow, the schools may be shut again and parents need to check the website in the morning!

I could get used to this!!

slng · 05/02/2009 20:45

Children do seem to do and say the strangest things. Do you think we did that when we were small?!

DS1 used to tell me about how this girl or that girl would or would not be his friend that day. Given that he takes it upon himself to disabuse them of the notion that pink and gold and silver are colours for girls only, I'm not surprised.

We did have a very good Monday and a very good Tuesday off. But how is one supposed to squeeze 5 days work into 2?

OP posts:
slng · 05/02/2009 20:49

I have just tried to follow NHS direct advice and tried to wake DS1 up after 2 hours in bed. He turned over. Is that good enough?

OP posts:
sfxmum · 05/02/2009 20:58

if you are worried about head injury I would keep checking on him and particularly making sure he is not sick but it is pretty hard to check for wakefulness in a child.
I remember once having to do the same but for an adult on Psychotropic drugs that was a riot

pcworld · 05/02/2009 21:14

Oh dear Sing, poor ds. Difficult to know what to do. Was he sick?

SFX, dd seems to have a new best friend every week - there are several who are rotated - and each day is full of stories about who played with who and who ignored who in the playground. At teatime she was all about writing invitations for a party that we are apparently throwing and demanding envelopes to put them in. Apparently we are having a bouncy castle in the garden. Perhaps something we could consider in the summer

Knackered tonight, what a week. Sitting here with very bad hair that reflects my inner state. Poor ds has been so ill. He seems to be turning a corner as of today, fingers crossed for tomorrow. Am hoping that tonight will bring snow so that dh can work from home! Am fantasising about coffee out somewhere on my own on Saturday even if it's just for an hour!

mellow2 · 05/02/2009 21:26

PC - Poor you. What a traumatic week. I'm glad to hear that ds is feeling better though.

Slng - I hope ds1 is better.

Sfx - I agree with the others. I'm sure you'll find out from mini sfx what's troubling her.

I'm not sure if I want it to snow tomorrow or not. On one hand, it's preferable to rain but it's really hard to get anything done when dd is not in nursery and she's only been once this week.

rosmerta · 06/02/2009 08:09

Snowing again! At least ds1's nursery is open!

Pc, what a horrible week for you, hoping ds has turned the corner.

Slng, likewise, hope ds1 is ok.

Rather selfishly I'm hoping the snow holds off a bit. Dh had planned on taking the boys to his mums tomorrow so I could have a day off!

slng · 06/02/2009 08:32

No school again today! They call this "extreme weather condition", do they? There's hardly any snow here and the school is just 1/2 mile away.

DS1 seems fine this morning. Phew! They are now busy making flying machines to catch the pigeon. Too much Dastardly and Muttley, I think.

OP posts:
sfxmum · 06/02/2009 08:58

good morning all

slng good to know hope ds makes a full recovery

ros weather forecast is for sun tomorrow, hope you get some time off

pcW hope the weekend gives you a break

auntie/mellow thanks for feedback she does not seem upset and isn't refusing to go so we will see

in order to catch up dh has been doing longish days and will probably work the weekend
local schools seem to be open

dd said she wanted to sit on the sofa watching the news and no CBeebies
