CoV is that the Rotunda? One of my brood is going there this coming weekend.

SFX _ I would love singing lessons too - have always regretted not being able to sing

SJ - Utah Who? (old person alert!!)

Is Obama's speah at 5pm our time today? Will be at work but determined to catch a glimpse - what a fabby day for person-kind (and mongrels in shelters)

sfxmum · 20/01/2009 13:16

auntie do you think they do joint voice coaching lessons? oh to be able to confidently hit a note in tune

am trying to explain to dd why it is so significant that Obama is becoming president today, it is reminiscent of explaining to my niece years ago about Mandela prison/ release/ presidency

slng I know you are a big Murakami fan am reading his book on running and it is great might pick his other stuff I have about the house

mygreatauntgriselda · 20/01/2009 13:57

SFX would love to go to joint coaching - if I ever get some free time I could google and see if there are any classes closeby

The thought of being able to sing in tune - amazing!!!

stepfordwife · 20/01/2009 14:42

hello everyone
lol at min-ros' fibre-rich diet
SJ well done on (nearly) cot move..my next quest is to get dd - at the ripe old age of nearly 4 - to stay in her bed all night..

well, things too damn busy at mo - combo of builders (yawwwwn, i know, sorry) work, cooped up kids and, worst of all, the bloody taxman, is all very, er, taxing.
frustrating as inside is a very lazy person struggling to get out

SJ - saw the heston programme. based on a totally absurd premise, imo, but good fun to see the ridiculous puffed-up ego that is the little chef big boss man
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 20/01/2009 14:45

historic day, indeed

ComeOVeneer · 20/01/2009 15:11

Is it 5pm? Will have to kick the LO's off the tv then in order to watch.

Auntie we went to the Charrington bowl just off the A£ (Tolworth), very reasonably priced and they give parents unlimited teas and coffees, still it was hard work containing 15 6/7 year olds (especially the boys)

stepfordwife · 20/01/2009 15:33

..do you reckon it's outside the builders' remit to rustle me up a sarnie?...

ComeOVeneer · 20/01/2009 15:39

Isn't that dh's job?

MrsRecycle · 20/01/2009 15:40

is the charrington still there? Have happy memories ofgoing there as a child. We were bowling at the weekend but on the wii. Had a lovely weekend went to panto with all of us and the whole place arghhed when ds said goodbye to the Fairy Godmother.

hello to all - steppie are you going to givebuilders a rent book - it must be their second home. Cracked it with dd2 sleeping in her own bed she's now in week 3 but was 8 just before Xmas lol

Sj sorry to hear about ds2 and his sleeping hope abs kick in soon.

We are having a piano in our new house - probably in the library. Wonder if I can remember to play chopsticks?

Was thinking of arranging a meet up in the half term if anyone's up for it? Was it really 2 years ago thatwe went to Godstone?

stepfordwife · 20/01/2009 15:41

should be, COV, should be...
but i'm not proud.. will accept any man's culinary offerings

mygreatauntgriselda · 20/01/2009 16:22

Swearing in 5pm GMT then 20 min speech

50 minutes to go...

We have all just been told at work we can down tools and go and watch his inaugration and speech

stepfordwife · 20/01/2009 17:24

he looks so young

rosmerta · 20/01/2009 17:31

Amazingly, ds1 let me watch it in between racing cars! I did try to explain to him the importance of today but he wasn't very impressed!

ComeOVeneer · 20/01/2009 17:41

Was very impressed, dd asked to watch it, said it is a "very important historical event" . And of course all the best people fluff there lines (as dh kindly texted me just now - re me ballsing up our wedding vows - I think he is missing the significance of the event )!

mygreatauntgriselda · 20/01/2009 17:44

LOL Cov!

Wow - what an inspirational speech!

And he is definately a F.I.L.F

(...sorry to lower the tone)

rosmerta · 20/01/2009 17:48

auntie

sfxmum · 20/01/2009 18:00

well that was nice fluffed lines and all

what happened to Cheney? guess deal with the devils is worth less now

rosmerta · 20/01/2009 18:20

I missed the fluffed lines!

rosmerta · 20/01/2009 18:28

Auntie a thread for you

MrsRecycle · 20/01/2009 18:32

Why can't it have been on at a more convenient time? You' d think the president would amend his schedule for me ? Been busy bathing, cooking, washing and trying to get another job - they're like buses you wait ages and then 3 come along at once

pcworld · 20/01/2009 19:25

SFX, Cheney did his back in packing boxes yesterday. Apparently!

sfxmum · 20/01/2009 19:36

what, into the shredder or the burning furnaces of hell?

slng · 20/01/2009 19:45

Didn't watch the inauguration. Don't like ceremonies. (Except the ones where you get to eat.) Also, like MrsR, busy on the domestic front. No doubt there will be reporting on the news tonight.

Did watch a little Heston vs Little Chef last night though. What a funny self-important type the Little Chef boss is! "Blue-sky thinking" for Little Chef cafes indeed. Anyway is the chain in trouble or what? Why are they wanting to be "radical"?

OP posts:
MrsRecycle · 20/01/2009 21:26

little chef beats mcd's in my dds books. They love the pancakes and jacket potatoes. Didn't get to see the program though. Domestic chores done - now chilling in the bath

SJ99 · 21/01/2009 09:55

Have taped it from last night so will watch at some point. I agree little chef is better, their breakfasts are a good hangover cure!

Anutie -

PCW - how's your back today? hope it is getting better

Ros - DS1 asked to go to Kidzone with miniRos, obvisouly has fond memories of their outings there

DS2 sleeping better now and AB's seem to be doing their job. Short notice, but have decided to try Little Fishes on Wellington Rd, Hampton Hill this morning if anyone wants to join us
