God morning

PCW/Ros - LOL I'm sure I walk round in such a daze half the time, I caught myself subconsciously singing the Thomas theme tune the other day in the shops, I didn't realise I was doing it til DS1 pointed it out

Well bedtime was going well so I thought I'll be brave and pursue the cot, took me 2 failed attempts to get him in, then DH came home at 8pm and finally got him to sleep in it at 9.30pm so I went to bed. BUT he woke up 20mins later, d'oh, so guess what... I brought him back to bed with me & he slept really well. I didn't have the energy to stand by the cot all night. Might try again in a few weeks when he's bit older. Let me know if you have any success Ros, it might inspire me!

Everyone enjoy the sunshine Off to see long lost friend from FB later!

SJ99 · 17/01/2009 12:03

Sorry didn't mean to sound religious, meant to say 'Good morning' LOL

mygreatauntgriselda · 17/01/2009 14:31

DS1 has been learning saxaphone at school and has brought it home to practice - we hve culture in the house!!! 'Tis very loud actually...

Ro - had you scoffed the grapes and forgotten??

PC good luc with laptop free week

Ha Ha

sfxmum · 18/01/2009 17:35

hello all
I hope everyone had a nice weekend and it was lovely seeing some of you yesterday

all good and quiet here or as quiet has having a 3yr old around allows, she has a cough and a cold but hasn't slowed down

pcworld · 18/01/2009 18:58

Evening, all. Mad weekend so have a glass of crisp, dry wine by my side. Had dh's family round today including dd's 2 year old cousin. Was the usual chaos and loads of fun - but I'm tired now! Think we are going to watch a movie now (have joined ilovefilm) - don't ask me what it is - will report back tomorrow! dd has asked if she "will be 4 forever"

Am starting to vaguely think about something for me, some sort of course or work or something, although easier said than done just right now. Maybe a course.

How is everyone else tonight? I can't believe it is Sunday night already, why do weekends go so quickly. Am already on countdown to half term now!

slng · 18/01/2009 19:25

Hello all!

Am exhausted. How did we end up having three dos for DS1's birthday when I was determined not to do anything? Glass of wine sounds just the thing. We are having leftover sausage rolls for tea ...

DS1's tooth fell out! He only noticed it after breakfast on Saturday and we couldn't find it. I expect he's eaten it ...

OP posts:
mygreatauntgriselda · 18/01/2009 22:28

Slng - !!! will you look for it?

PC - have you been laptop free today then? . I find my life has whizzed past since it been determined by school terms

SFX - was there a meet up yesterday - must have missed that one LOL - ?

rosmerta · 19/01/2009 09:20

Hi all,

PC - Good luck with the laptop free week! I'm trying to limit my time a bit but wouldn't go as far as that!

Dh took the boys off to his mum's yesterday so I had a mega cleaning & toy sorting day. Still didn't get as much done as I wanted

SJ99 · 19/01/2009 09:44

morning

DS2 now on AB's and his sleeping has gone to pot Oh well, just keep reminding myself 'it's just a phase'
Am still in pj's and we're supposed to be going out in 20mins

Slng - eek, any sign of tooth yet? at least it fell out painlessly

Ros - hope you managed to get in some relaxation and weren't cleaning the whole time

PCW - how was film and vino? Nice combo!

Auntie - saxophone sounds v. cultured indeed, much more exciting than learning to play the recorder!

Sfx - how is dd?

Right better get in shower and do some make up to look vaguely human

sfxmum · 19/01/2009 09:53

good morning all

slng regarding the tooth it was a constant with the people I used to work with (SN) usually it just gets swallowed with zero consequences the only danger is aspiration which creates problems but is very rare and unlikely, he may will have spat it out in the garden and forgot all about it

ros hope you had time to rest too although uninterrupted tidy up session is quite cathartic and almost relaxing

auntie dd likes music and keeps saying she wants this one and that one, we are hoping she settles on something quiet

SJ she is fine thanks just lots of coughing during the night and woke up a few times but seems cheerful enough today but looks tired

I went running both Saturday morning and Sunday late afternoon it was lovely

sfxmum · 19/01/2009 09:54

and SJ hope AB's do their thing quickly, sleep will get better

pcworld · 19/01/2009 13:34

SJ, hope ds2 is feeling better soon. Hope you made it out today. Sometimes going out helps, even when one is completely shattered! Ros, good that you had a chance to get some stuff done on your own - it's a struggle isn't it. Auntie - I love the saxophone! That's fab. I'm still trying to get hold of a piano and keep losing out on any that I see on freecycle Didn't make it out of the house this morning, my back is killing me. I can pinpoint exactly how I did it, lifing ds "the wrong way" ie sans bended knees ... hopefully ibuprofen will help me on my way. Will walk to school this afternoon to see if that helps. Definitely need to make it out of the house tomorrow (ie something other than the school run). Hope everyone else is ok. The laptop free week was kind of a joke

slng · 19/01/2009 13:52

Hello all!

Car wouldn't start this morning so school run was literally a run. Made it in time as well. Anyway AA man came and sorted it out.

pc - Do you want my piano? I want to get a new one (am possibly considering one of those electronic ones). Drawback: it's a ship's piano so a bit smaller and not full range. Bigger drawback: soundboard cracked so can't be tuned up to pitch and some keys not working as well as others. Advantage: free and not going anywhere in a hurry.

DS1's tooth couldn't be found, so it's likely that he's swallowed it. We left a note for the tooth fairy (signed by both DS1 and DS2 aka "and me!!!" ) and he got 50p ...

I need a drink now ...

mygreatauntgriselda · 19/01/2009 14:02

PC LOL at your no laptop week joke!!

Ros - lovely to see you and your lovely boys this morning. DS1 has got a lovely nature - he was very good with the Fat Toddler

SFX - your DD on FB looks more as though she's be into Hendrix or something !!! Perhaps she and my DS1 could form a cool band

mygreatauntgriselda · 19/01/2009 14:02

...wit mini Slng on the keyboard

sfxmum · 19/01/2009 15:56

auntie she likes the Breeders and PJ Harvey or so she says to please mummy

pc I know dh told me there was an upright piano on Freecycle recently
sorry about the back (bend knees straight back tummy in) hope you recoverer soon

dd still coughing but seems ok I expect she will protest she is poorly on the way to nursery tomorrow

mellow2 · 19/01/2009 16:27

Pcworld - Sorry to hear about the bad back. Hope it gets better soon. I think I would go mental if I had a week without email. I'm totally addicted.

SJ - Sorry to hear about poor sleeping. Hope ds2 recovers quickly with ABs.

slng · 19/01/2009 18:05

Phew! Easy tea (cheese sandwich) turned a bit complicated by DS2 toppling a glass of juice over himself. But all clean and dry now.

I don't think I'd last a whole day without emails!

OP posts:
pcworld · 19/01/2009 19:27

Yes, SFX, I mailed immediately re: the upright piano but it was already gone! Sing - I LOVE the easy tea - lol!! Also - many thanks for the super-kind piano offer! I think (although I know - beggars cannot be choosers)I will try and hold out for something that I can tune - it does not have to be in amazing condition or anything like that but I would deffo like it to be tunable, I'd like to start playing again, myself.

slng · 19/01/2009 19:50

pcworld - completely understand re piano. I want one to play myself too, but am considering whether it's more prudent to get an electronic one so that no one else has to put up with the noise! But I have some sort of psychological block about electronic pianos...

All the children's teas are easy teas. They just manage to generate chaos out of them.

OP posts:
pcworld · 19/01/2009 20:13

Sing, I used to have an electronic piano but ended up selling it as it just "didn't feel right". So, I know where you are coming from.

rosmerta · 20/01/2009 08:40

Morning all,

auntie, nice to see you & the Fat Toddler yesterday! He's so cute!

Pc, I wish you hadn't told me about the party website, I'm having to restrain myself from spending a fortune!

I'd also like to get a piano, maybe when I get the house which has a room just for me

sfxmum · 20/01/2009 11:10

good morning talented people if only I could sing, actually new goal get singing lessons

dd was tearful again this morning and they seemed short staffed, keeping fingers crossed, went running for my usual miles, really must do better it is getting too comfortable

isn't it a lovely day

SJ99 · 20/01/2009 11:45

Morning all

Ds1 was singing a song to DS2 this morning, I was amused to discover he was singing a Utah Saints song to him

I use to play the piano when I was younger, wish I still could play

I forgot to watch Food fight last night with Heston, did anyone see it, any good?

ComeOVeneer · 20/01/2009 12:11

Hi all. Haven't had a chance to catch up on here in ages. Had a busy week last week catching up of everythin I couldn't do the week before due to ds's chicken pox. We had my sister and her brood to stay for the weekend for dd's birthday - 15 children to the bowling alley on Sunday (aaarrggghh). I am just about recovered (at least b'day parties are over until Dec now ).

Hope everyone is well, have I missed any exciting news/gossip/scandals?
