ah yes if only i could find housework distracting or interesting I should be sorted alas..

on the plus side dd had a very good day at nursery at last despite tears and 'mummy no' when I left they are all very impressed with her new found appetite and we are quite astonished too

pcworld · 14/01/2009 14:32

HELLO EVERYONE BIT QUIET ON HERE WHAT WHAT?

Well - today is dd's 4th birthday! So we are here in a pile of wrapping paper and deitrius. Most of it pink Managed to forget to bring the cakes to nursery in my usual, useless way. Luckily they will easily keep until tomorrow and dd was cool about it!

Tis certainly a dreary day but definitely getting a bit warmer and soon we will have spring!

mellow2 · 14/01/2009 14:59

Happy birthday mini pcworld! .

Sfx - I wish I can find housework interesting too. I don't find baking/making bread interesting anymore either. I must find a new interest.

sfxmum · 14/01/2009 15:13

happy birthday miniPC

mellow keep thinking about getting an allotment but the waiting list has not even opened yet was promised it would this year, or I should just find a job

oh and remember the summer wedding? well it is no more apparently she decided she did not want to be married on the 6th of January and left

rosmerta · 14/01/2009 17:35

sfx at the wedding, though I guess best realised now than after the wedding.

Btw if you want an allotment you're welcome to plant our garden

SJ99 · 14/01/2009 19:10

Happy birthday miniPCW!!!

Mellow - I thought you were getting into the baking, what's made you lose interest? How did the parathas turn out?

Sfx - so do you think you'll send miniSfx 3days a week then?

Ros - Hope playdate went well

KC - well done gherkin

Slng - no idea about tooth, maybe it will fall out of it's own accord...

Been a manic weeks so far, yesterday ahd to go back to docs as they've confirmed DS2 has an eye infection. Am annoyed as I talked to HV about this 2wks ago as I thought the gunk was not going away but she just dismissed it, glad I pursued it with docs. Also been to hospital today for hipscan for DS2, he is fine on that front hurray. Luckily DS1 doesn't seem to mind being dragged round to all these appointments this week.

SJ99 · 14/01/2009 19:11

oh and MIL said her friend in France had seen my photos on FB but I have privacy setting that only my friends can view I'm hoping she means she saw the album cover on newsfeed....

sfxmum · 14/01/2009 19:25

ros well it was too late as they married last July it is all a bit scandalous

SJ we started the 3 day week this week dd is going tue wed&thu

boo to HV but glad it is sorted patience award for DS1 expect he is used to hospitals by now

slng · 14/01/2009 19:36

On massive tidy-up mission today. More boxes and classification and ruthless culling of toys, since more toys coming on Saturday. But need another massive box for overflow and for toys that defy classification.

I've had enough of the school run already. When's the next holiday?

SJ - glad eye infection diagnosed and hopefully it will clear up quickly.

sfx - come and do my garden. I'm considering planting some sort of berry. We'll split produce 50-50 in the autumn.

Mellow - breadmaking is becoming routine here now, but it's still sufficiently nice to continue. How about baking cakes? Or cooking Ethoipian food or something? I remember a character in Norwegian Wood who made herself an expert in Kyoto (or somewhere) cuisine entirely from books ...

mygreatauntgriselda · 14/01/2009 19:36

SJ sorry to hear your O has eye infection. The Fat Toddler had an infected (but not infectious, it was just a stye) eye - did you get some meds for it?

Kew - LOL at your tooth comments

Slng - leave the tooth to fall out on its own then tell DS to put it unde his pillow, then creep out in the night and exchange the tooth for 1 coin, courtesy of Tooth Fairy

OK NEED FB ADVICE

A man has contacted me who says he knew me at college but I really don't remember him at all - what do I do? Shall I make fiends with him?

Befoe you all start sniggering at the back, h is middle aged, over wieght Lebanese Guy (not tasty) . I guess he must genuinely know me although he looks completely unfamilar to me!!

What do I do?

mygreatauntgriselda · 14/01/2009 19:37

Slng I badly need to do a toy cull...[mm]

sfxmum · 14/01/2009 19:41

auntie ask more question you can exchange messages before making them friends

slng I long to grow tomatoes and basil which were our largest crops last time we had a garden a good ten years ago, if I do get an allotment am going for basics like potatoes cabbages and squashes along with an herb/ kitchen garden, if only I had land

SJ99 · 14/01/2009 19:56

We're going to do another basil farm this year, we do it every year & get loads of yummy herbs. Already have a selection of other herbs growing in garden in pots.
DH & I were discussing growing potatoes but can't where we live as we're renting so decided we need to find some derelict land to stash them

Slng - you've reminded me to do a toy cull

rosmerta · 14/01/2009 20:37

Sfx, sorry I thought you meant the wedding was coming up this year. I guess it is all a bit scandalous

Auntie, I'd ignore him as well!

Playdate went ok, a couple of turn-taking issues but they were quickly sorted!

pcworld · 15/01/2009 09:02

Morning, All. Well, it's all go here this week and I am dreaming of holiday(s)! Am going to start researching. Needs to be near the sea and will be in this country. Hope all are well. Mellow, I sympathise with the whole housework etc thing, it is dire. Hopefully the weather will start improving from hereon so that at least there is more motivation to be outside and doing.

mygreatauntgriselda · 15/01/2009 09:28

What is this "housework" thing you speak about?

mellow2 · 15/01/2009 09:31

Good morning everyone.

SJ and slng - I haven't stopped baking. In fact, I'm making my own sourdought starter atm. I mean it's just a chore now, not interesting anymore. Cakes are difficult as dh and I don't like eating them.

SJ - Glad you got ds2's sore eyes diagnosed. HVs can be frustrating.

Auntie - How many FB friends do you have now?

Right, better finish work so we can get out of the flat before lunchtime.

Mellow - I'm contemplating trying the sourdough stuff as well, but I've bought sourdough bread before and didn't like it. But then I don't like shop-bought wholemeal bread either and homemade is so different, so maybe homemade sourdough might be nice ... Is it nice?

OP posts:
sfxmum · 15/01/2009 09:55

good morning all

mellow have been looking through the Bertinet book and there is lots I would like to try but we shall see

pc again don't think we will have a holiday this year although we just might stretch to a long weekend somewhere and the festival which is something we all enjoy

really lacking motivation to go running today but would probably help with my current paranoia, haven't slept much the last couple of nights, probably do housework instead

rosmerta · 15/01/2009 10:16

sfx, ds1 has woken up with a bit of a temp so may have to postpone this pm. Will let you know later for definite, I'm hoping he'll perk up but its looking doubtful

mellow2 · 15/01/2009 10:56

slng & sfx - I'm using Bertinet's sourdough recipe. I'll let you know when I've baked with it. It's going to be another week before the starter is ready.

SJ - I forgot to say that aloo parathas were delicious. Dd loved them too. I think it might be a cunning way to get dd to eat more greens. I'm going to try spinach ones next.

sfxmum · 15/01/2009 11:12

ros ok hope he feels better anyway

mellow think will start with a simple recipe but love sourdough and rye breads

dd has been eating a lot more lately but still has an embargo on greens and frankly I just mash then into non specific tomato sauce and in it goes, leaving token big bits for her to try and reject

oh and this morning dd got very huffy with me and stormed off to her room with a huge grump face on arms crossed the lot those teens should be fun

pcworld · 15/01/2009 12:10

Ros, sorry not to see you this morning - how is ds doing? Hope the calpol is working its magic! On the plus side, we went shopping for some birthday bits and pieces and bumped into an old friend that I hadn't seen for ages, which was lovely Fate!

rosmerta · 15/01/2009 12:14

He's a little better, temp gone down but he doesn't want to eat anything, only drink. All 3 of us have had a little nap on the sofa as well .

Sfx, we will definitely have to give today a miss. I think he just needs to rest a bit.

Pc, glad you had a good morning!
