nice to see some of you on Friday, wasn't exactly planning to go and wasn;t exactly planning to stay so long but was having such a nice time boring telling Quokka the story of my platelets. Poor girl haven't heard before, the only person in London who hadn't?

Anyway I'm steroid-free for a month afterwhich they test my platelet levels to see if they are dropping without the steroids.

Had a nice weekend, ma's 70th birthday on Saturday so big family meal and DS stayed up for it.

DS starts Nursery Tues and Friday afternoons this week just as a trial but don't plan to keep him there next year

KewcumbersRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 12/01/2009 09:19

Athene is new job London based? There was some talk of it being Aberdeen?

sfxmum · 12/01/2009 11:08

good morning all

quick drop by will catch up later hope everyone is well
glad to hear the night out was quite successful

slng · 12/01/2009 11:42

Good morning all!

Baked a chocolate swirl cake for DS1 to decorate and take to school tomorrow. My baby is 5!

Right. Off to see dentist.

Hello. Job London based until such time they wish to ship me off elsewhere. I'm not on a project yet, but certainly expect to be as soon as they have a place to send me. There are two bids in the pipeline, and funnily I prefer the sound of the one in Aberdeen -- except of course for the fact it's in Aberdeen. I'll let you all know if I get shipped out. (You'll hear DD screaming in protest)

pcworld · 12/01/2009 17:28

I have just been asked "does he need a wee when he is on the sleigh". We are talking about Father Christmas here Ho hum.

Aside from this relevatory contribution, there is not much more that can be said about today. It is Monday. It is nearly over!

rosmerta · 13/01/2009 08:04

lol pc!

Not much to add really, ds1 in nursery so am going to head to a cafe for an hour. Might as well make the most of it while ds2 will sleep!

sfxmum · 13/01/2009 08:57

good morning all

pc must admit that is a thorny problem

off to take dd for her extra day at nursery we are going late today, honestly if she does not settle this week am not going to persist

posting essay today don't think it is any good but am done now

KewcumbersRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 13/01/2009 09:12

DS off to nursery shcool for first time this afternoon so I have sent him off to CM's with back-pack containing packed lunch. He wanted to take his suitcase on wheels too but I persuaded him (eventually) that suitcases were for holidays not nursery...

SJ99 · 13/01/2009 10:52

KC - LOL, good luck for gherkin's 1st day at nursery, hope it goes well

PCW - I guess Rudolph could go for pitstop at Father Christmas request

SFx - well done on finishing essay, hurray

Ros - enjoy cafe hr, sorry can't meet today but needed the me time while DS at preschool to catch up on a few things otherwise the week ends up being really hectic

Slng - happy birthday to your DS1

Auntie - really nice to see you yesterday After you left DS1 asked how to spell Fat toddler's name and then proceeded to make more cups of tea

stepfordwife · 13/01/2009 11:04

aw, kew, that's so sweet. nothing makes me feel like a 'real", "grown-up" mum more than putting items of food in tupperware containers.
sad but true

well done for getting essay done, sfx. sure it's better than you think.

glad some of you had a nice evening with quokka. would have loved to come, but had a lovely weekend with my visitors. is she enjoying singapore?

haven't been posting much - RL getting in way. Got quite a lot of work on and still haven't sorted my accounts, but got to be in my end of month, so - hell that it will be - WILL get it done in next few weeks.
but wanted to pop head above parapet to say 'helllllllloooooooo"

also quite busy socially (shame, got no money). when things got too hectic in lead-up to christmas, said to people;'hey. let's do something in jan. jan's such a quiet month.." not any more...
january is the new december

going 'into town" this evening to meet up with old work crew. idly wondering where my token one pot of eye-shadow is...

builders still with us..part of the family now. have said they''' be finished by jan 23. we'll see.
repeat mantra: It will be worth it.
have a good day, all
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 13/01/2009 11:05

oh yes, happy birthday mini-sing
hello SJ, sounds like all the newborns are doing well (and their mothers relatively sane!

mygreatauntgriselda · 13/01/2009 12:42

SJ lovely to see you too and your gorgeous boys - DS1's spelling is amazing. Can he spell "fat toddler" though?

Name drop time: Just been invited to a round table discusssion at 11 Downing St on intergenerational worklessness, but have been very generous and allowed one of my managers to attend instead. I feel a bit now as I'd quite like to attend just to have a nose round the place and stroke the wallpaper

Good luck to mini Kew on nursery

Good luck to Steppy's builders in actually completing the job

stepfordwife · 13/01/2009 13:20

..where's that man with my sandwich....

sfxmum · 13/01/2009 13:49

omg steppie do you keep mugs with their names on now? since you are busy will forgo invite for coffee tomorrow

slng happy birthday

auntie oh look at you mrs would love to nose around thee too, do you think you get frisked at the door?

Ros hope coffee was nice, it is the little things

Kew hope ds enjoys his first day, and when do you check the platelet status?

SJ lol at boogie beebies the line up seems remarkably stable I must say

went running using new gadget but the pesky thing makes too honest, no more 'oh I think am going along ok' or 'that should be about 3 miles' oh not the thing tells me how fast and how far plus a number of other details of my 'effort' am not sure I like it

sfxmum · 13/01/2009 13:50

not thee there no intention of nosing around thee

SJ99 · 13/01/2009 14:11

Auntie - how exciting, you'll have to sneak in a secret webcam in your colleague's jacket pocket so we can see what the place is like

Sfx - v.honest gadget, not sure I'd like that either, ignorance is bliss

Steppie - you assume I was sane to start off with Enjoy your night out

rosmerta · 13/01/2009 14:19

sfx, dh has one of those gadgets, it means no cheating for his marathon training!

auntie, that's nothing, I spent NYE 1999 at the House of Lords [smug grin]!

Didn't get my coffee trip in the end, HV rang & asked if they could do the home visit today, thought it best to get it over & done with.

Right ds2 asleep, ds1 playing trains, must go get something done!

sfxmum · 13/01/2009 14:36

yep made me perk up too as I kept an eye on the pace and distance, not long now till marathon time for you to start making those banners Ros

dh's idea of a diet = chocolate chilli in the house oh dear!

mellow2 · 13/01/2009 15:02

Auntie - that does sound exciting. Big of you to forgo opp to nose around. I wouldn't miss an opportunity like that.

Slng - Happy belated birthday to ds1. Dh's nephew's birthday is today. Luckily I bought birthday present with his Christmas one, otherwise we would have forgotten it again.

Kew - Hope ds's 1st day at nursery went well. Fingers x for platelet count.

Steppie - Fingers x too that builders finish as promised.

SJ - Glad that you're coping ok. I remember being a complete idiot for the 1st 6 months of dd's life.

Ros - Hope all goes well with the course.

Athena - Will you be based in Aberdeen full time if your company wins the bid?

PCWorld - Dd still checks to see if Father Christmas is hovering outside our balcony with more presents for her. She's really worried that we'll recycle our 'artificial' tree.

slng · 13/01/2009 18:45

Hello all!

Just a quick question for the more experienced: what does one do with wobbly teeth? Ds1's teeth are beginning to seriously wobble. Do you just do nothing and wait till it falls out?

OP posts:
KewcumbersRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 13/01/2009 20:09

DS was a star ma only stayed 5 mins then left and apparently he was absolutely fine - hopefully that will last.

Platelets get checked in 3 more weeks.but that I should come in if I get any symtoms. Apparently I'm one of the few people who they didn;t have to explain what the symptoms of low platelets are because most people (even with ITP) have never had very very low platelets. See I knew I would find an advantage eventually!

From personal experience of teeth you ust let appropriate DC fiddle with tooth endlessly until it throws itself out of the muth in despair. Do not let siblings attmept any DIY dentistry.

slng · 14/01/2009 10:35

Well-done miniKew!

I don't think there is any danger of sibling-DIY-dentistry, DS1 being as squemish as he is...

OP posts:
sfxmum · 14/01/2009 13:17

hello all what a dreary day!

have been busy running errands all boring and time consuming

KC glad to hear it went well long may it continue

slng sibling dentistry is almost inevitable at some point I hear afaik wobbling fine twisting NO

where is everyone?

rosmerta · 14/01/2009 13:36

Slng, lots of wobbling with tongue iirc, the string tied to the door handle doesn't work (apparently )

Sfx, boring day here too, ds has a friend coming over this afternoon though so will be a bit livelier
