Baked ricotta and blueberry buns. I think the kids are getting spoilt. Perhaps I'll sneak away and eat one while they wreck the piano.

SJ thanks for asking but won't know until I get home LOL!! You will be sure to know if she isn't any good though as I will have a MN moan

CoV - I love doing photo albums on FB - well, now I have worked out how to do it.

SFX - yes they all do that. As soon as you are gone, she will stop crying

Slng can you play the piano then, as well as cook? I can't do either BTW

Am really looking forward to seeing Quokka on Friday

ComeOVeneer · 07/01/2009 19:09

Had noticed a load of albums from you recently. Can believe how grown up ds2 looks , not a baby any more

sfxmum · 07/01/2009 19:28

slng dh saw an upright piano on freecycle and was tempted although none of us can actually play

SJ more MN or proper training for 10K race
good luck for solo night

COV just in passing but your ds looks a lot like you and your dd has headgirl look about her, no trouble there

auntie yes your DS2 is huge isn't he nearly 2 now? time flies still remember when you were due

can't yet tell about Friday but it is looking unlikely

AtheneNoctua · 07/01/2009 19:43

Oh... are we talkin' sushi on this thread? I got all excited about embarking on sushi making weeks ago. I bought the seaweed sheets (hmm... interested in those shape cutter things), the mat, the rice and whatever else I found on the shelf at Tesco and... well, I haven't made s ingle attempt at rolling sushi. We should have a sushi lesson meet-up or something to insire us all.

In the absense of a suitable instructor, I have a book. Slng, if you want to come to Sunbury, we can have a stab at it at my house. Weekday evening or weekend day (with kids?) would work for me. And anyone else who wants to come would also be welcome.

Anyway, speaking of meet-ups, I am very excited about seeing Quokka (and everyone else) on Friday. Oxo has promised to stay sober all night (Ha! No, not really!!!).

slng · 07/01/2009 19:45

sfx - I want a new piano, or at least one that's tuneable...

auntie - I can do some of one and a bit of the other

Ricotta and blueberry buns very yummy indeed.

Had a "row" with DS1. I accused him of always playing up when it's time for me to take DS2 to bed. He looked blank and innocent. I swear these people will do my head in one day.

AtheneNoctua · 07/01/2009 19:51

Oi COV, I have checked out your profile pics. Those are some fab cakes! Do you do kids birthday cakes? Can you tell me what you charge? They all look sooo yummy!

sfxmum · 08/01/2009 10:23

good morning all

had a few more tears today but dd wasn't crying when I left, this is new she wasn't really upset before, oh well

hope everyone is well, must get on with blinking essay only 900 words to go

xoxo · 08/01/2009 10:52

Oh no I didn't.

anyway, it's always Athene leading us astray...

hope everyone well and happy

mygreatauntgriselda4christmas · 08/01/2009 11:44

Good luck withessay SFX

Have been so busy today, I really wish I could revert to the Waynetta Slob lifesyle I enjoyed over Christmas

sfxmum · 08/01/2009 12:10

while on a little break came across a thread about calling 999 anyway someone posted this gem about their mother, and I just had to share LOL

""Yoga in the bath - She used to be a very supple lady and could put both legs round her head - she decided (god knows why) to try this whilst sitting in the bath waiting for it to fill up, she also has joints that lock like myself and once her legs where up there they locked and she couldn't get them down then after a few minuted of wriggling she got wedged in our tiny bath.

We just heard screams of ' help my bum's stuck in the bath, im going to drowing!'

My sister had to rush in there after the fireman had bashed the door down with a towel to cover her modesty while we turned the taps off and eventually unstuck her.

She has never lived it down""

rosmerta · 08/01/2009 12:54

lol sfx! Btw, I founjd that ds would always have a few tears when he went back to nursery after a break. Going back on Tues was the first time he hasn't been upset actually!

Sj, you do walk next to it. Ds loves it! We found with the board that he wouldn't even want to stand up but wanted to be carried hence the bike

AtheneNoctua · 08/01/2009 15:59

Oh ok.

Oxo is always leading people astray in a stuper of drunkeness and then blaming me.

You know what those Belfast girls are like!

SJ99 · 08/01/2009 16:41

Hello all

Hope everyone well

Slng - can't find your email address, can you email me please and I can send you recipes?

SFX - LOL at story, nowt stranger than folk
BTW are you free by any chance Fri am, I'm heading to Kew Retail as need to get a few bits and bobs, fancy meeting up?

Ros - bike does look fun. DS1 luckily likes buggy board but is also walking more too.

Neighbour and kids came round this morning, DS1 was showing off his spelling, it has taken a new level and he is starting to read a few words now as well as being able to spell loads more, she said I should get him MENSA checked & send him to private school

Just back from Kingston, v. impressed there were feeding rooms, hurray

sfxmum · 08/01/2009 16:49

cov cupcakes article plus pics says £2.50 per cake

SJ is that tomorrow? say when be nice to see you
and your genius DS1 dh is most impressed by his skills, as reported last year and thoroughly approves of the friendship
'well that sounds like a lovely young man' he said

ros it seems she cried a few times this morning and was really miserable told them she was sad might have been because of the long break and the not very restful night but makes me feel really bad. she was quite cheerful when I picked her up

slng · 08/01/2009 17:06

Hello all!

Lull before dinner madness.

Athene - I got sushi mat and stuff as well but am going to attempt basic sushi roll soon! But I have never been any good at rolling up things so not optimistic. Have you tried youtube? They've got some funny vids of sushi-making! Funnily enough I do go to Sunbury now and then. MIL lives near there.

SJ - will email. MENSA? Carol Voderman's a member you know. Enough to put anyone off. Like Richard Gere and Buddhism.

I'm in two minds about feeding rooms. On one hand all that quiet and privacy is very nice. On the other hand it feels like you are doing something not quite acceptable to the general public... Or is it just my usual paranoid self speaking?

OP posts:
slng · 08/01/2009 17:07

Nearly burnt kids' dinner, posting on here.

OP posts:
SJ99 · 08/01/2009 17:15

Sfx - I will head to Retail after dropping off DS, do a bit of shopping then shall I come to yours or do you want to meet me at M&S cafe about 10.45-11am?
Pity DD is sad when you leave her, hope it improves next week when she is back into the swing of things

Slng - in Sweden bf in public was v.common place so I didn't think twice about feeding wherever I was, but here I find it more taboo. Yesterday at docs I was going to feed in waiting rm but was informed by nurse it might be better to go to end of corridor where it was more private Anwyay I could hardly be discreet at surgery with DS1 pointing out to all 'there's mummy's nipple'

SJ99 · 08/01/2009 17:15

oops, also need to rescue dinner now

sfxmum · 08/01/2009 17:43

Richard Gere and Budhism LOL frankly no religion appeals so much worst when celeb backed

about bf rooms I used a few mostly because dd would only feed on rugby hold thus exposing me a fair bit
at my GP it was ok to bf in the waiting room I did it a few times just after vaccines and it was fine even encouraged

SJ that would be fine I predict a lazy day for us tomorrow

dinner in oven for a while still so no danger of burning as yet

slng · 08/01/2009 18:11

I used to just feed wherever, and if I was eating in a restaurant that's where and when baby would be fed (nothing gets between me and my food), but I was taken by surprised the other day: friend dragged me to Kingston to have coffee, and while we were sitting having coffee she went to change 2-month-old baby's nappy. 45 minutes later, I was still sitting on my own in the bloody cafe. It turned out she just decided to feed the baby at the feeding room by the changing room WITHOUT TELLING ME. I was ever so slightly annoyed.

OP posts:
MrsRecycle · 08/01/2009 19:16

I've nursed at work (male dominated environment); in fact wherever LOs demanded it.

sj - ds1 does sound remarkedly talented. My 8 year old had just clicked with her spellings now (she can do the hard ones as well as the easy ones she's given).

Sorry haven't had time to post (been lurking via iphone though!).

COV - hope your dd's birthday went well and ds is feeling a bit better. Re: cakes, I normally pay £30 for a character type cake (eg Christening, Teletubby). I offered to makes dd2's cake this year but she wanted Zac instead (HSM). My how they grow up.

Auntie - I'm having one of those weeks as well. Rush rush rush. Should we do advertise for a "wife-share"?

AN - am looking forward to seeing Quokka as well (and you and everyone else as well!). How's the job going?

Talking of jobs I've had enough of being spoken to like a 14 year old and everything I do being questioned and then the end conclusion is that I was right. I've been doing this job for 11 years and I've never been treated so badly. So I'm off in just over 3 weeks. Am so so happy to be gone. Probably not the best time to go but there is a job in Dubai going if I don't get anything.

Auntie - meant to ask what happened to your cleaner? I have a wonderful one now who actually puts things away in the right place. I heart her to bits (she even looked after a sick dd1 yesterday).

mygreatauntgriselda4christmas · 08/01/2009 22:58

MrsR just made friends with your DF on FB!!

Athene - am really excited too - too see Quokka (plus I lurve noodles) (plus I lurve cheap nights out LOL)

SJ - Kingston is great for kids isn't it. I like to have the option of feeding rooms. Its nice to know they are there, so you can shuffle in and plonk the shopping down for a few quiet and private (read: knackered and want some quiet, in my case) moments with baby

mellow2 · 09/01/2009 10:12

It would be nice to see everyone. It's been a while since I've met up with anyone.

mellow2 · 09/01/2009 10:16

Oops. Wrong thread. Meant to post that on the meet-up thread.

Sfx - Poor mini sfx. Dd, on the other hand, was bawling on Monday because it's unfair that Papa gets to go to work and she wasn't going to pre-school. It's been exhausting trying to keep up with her. So she's going 3 days a week now. Is mini sfx going to nursery on Fri now?

Sj - Ds1 sounds like Einstein material.

I hope everyone else is well.
