happy new year' am so tired 7 lo's stayed last night and they didn't go to sleep until 6am. Next year dd1 wants to stay up until7am. Ds woke up at 9am. And we had some bad news dh's 22 year old cousin died yesterday. Not sure what of buy he was an alcoholic.

My resolution is to not drink too much and so far so good.

rosmerta · 01/01/2009 14:03

Happy new year! I was in bed by 9.30 and ended up sharing with ds2 who has a bit of a cold & just wanted to be cuddled all night, ds1 also woke up so ended up in the spare bed with dh!

MrsR, sorry to hear about your dh's cousin, so young

Auntie, glad you had a nice time last night!

Oh resolution, to become a domestic goddess or at least keep up with the cleaning

mygreatauntgriselda4christmas · 01/01/2009 17:44

Mrs R - 22 year old alcoholic? that is so sad

rosmerta · 01/01/2009 18:21

auntie, did ds1 watch Dr Who at the Proms today? It was quite good if a bit bizarre!

SJ99 · 01/01/2009 18:49

Auntie - you party animal, thanks for throwing Barack my way, made me chuckle

Mrsr - that is sad news about DH cousin, dying so young

Sfx - good effort going running in this cold weather, I'm impressed

Bunyan - glad you enjoyed your party last night

KEw- sounds like a perfect start to the year

Ros - sounds familiar re:DC!

slng · 01/01/2009 18:57

Hello all! Happy new year!

We went to friend's place by Richmond park, driving through Kew - throngs of people that way!

Kew - auspicious start to new year. May it continue!

Auntie - partying!? TBH I'm not really envious. I'm actually quite pleased to have a good reason not to go to any NYE party for the next 18 years. Memories of loud music, overpriced club booze, queues for minicabs, kipping over at other peoples', trying to procure brunch/lunch with a hangover (I remember storming into a Clapham pub kitchen one year demanding my food and thereby acquiring a totally unjustified reputation of being fierce ...), trying to get home etc etc .... Perhaps I went to particularly bad parties...

Ros - am already domestic goddess . In the Chinese tradition the god of the kitchen has to be bribed with sweet things. Not bad, eh?

MrsR - sorry to hear about dh's cousin.

SushiMummy · 02/01/2009 07:19

Happy New Year, everyone!

Ros - sorry I didn't get in touch. PC was playing up (probably to do with the virus thing DH installed) and DS wasn't too up for KG. Hope DS1 didn't catch anything.

I just found out that I've put on about a half a stone recently. Hence my new year's resolution; keep the weight under control.

rosmerta · 02/01/2009 09:20

Don't worry Sushi, we only went for an hour in the end

Dh back at work today. We'll probably have a lazy day though might try & at least get out to the park, more so ds1 doesn't go stir crazy!

sfxmum · 02/01/2009 12:51

hello all

mrsR that is really awful am so sorry

slng LOL at parties I think I have done my share of NYE parties at least for a while, although a fair share of them ended up with breakfast on the beach via the bakery so not too bad

SJ hope yours are feeling better I think I have been steaming dd's room for so long that even thought she did not need it last night I still started doing it

Ros hope day goes smoothly

I don't think I put on more than a couple of lbs over Christmas but not taking chances and am back to WW next week, still have a lot to loose
and went out again this morning it was very pretty
dh is now out with dd so I can study which I am obviously doing now

rosmerta · 02/01/2009 13:13

Sfx, get on with that studying [stern face]!

We've had a nice time at the park on Northfields Ave & been into the children's bookshop. Somehow, ds1 ended up with a paint Thomas poster set. And dh thinks I'm the bad cop!

stepfordwife · 02/01/2009 14:09

here's a fab 2009, all

but so sorry about your dh's cousin, mrsR. that's so sad.

well, we went to nye party at my ma's. fun if surreal. ma's a kerry woman and her two best friends are from glasgow and the welsh valleys - i swear to god after a few drinks, they were all talking in tongues

add my cousin who's just been dumped, got paralytic and wailed;'I'm 39 and i want a bayyyyyyyyybeeeeeeeeeee." all night, a house of screaming, over-excited kids and you get the picture!

had impromptu gathering of neighbours in our half-finished kitchen yesterday. my friend came in for a glass of bubbly and i asked my other next door neighjbours and someone who happened to be walking past.
it was fun - i love parties but hate organising them, so this was perfect!

went ice-skating in kew this morning (well i watched sipping cappuccino)

planning to veg out this arvo if can persuade little fellas to watch a movie
take care everyone
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 02/01/2009 14:12

oh god, and totally agree about nye parties (apart from my mum's obvioulsy)
and as for having to pay a tenner just for the privilege of going in a pub....

mygreatauntgriselda4christmas · 02/01/2009 14:37

SJ Well I actually only intend to throw Obama at my friend who confessed on NYE to fancying him, but somehow I threw him at everyone on my "friends" list

Slng IKWYM - luckily this one was round the corner and I got a lift but usually the thought of going out and all the hassle involved just makes me want to stay in

Steppy how is the extension then - are ou pleased with it?(Which is my way of saying, "when can I come and have nose?")

mygreatauntgriselda4christmas · 02/01/2009 14:39

BTW Bargain ALERT*

The Sun £9.50 holiday tokens start again on Monday 5th - includes hols in June and July

rosmerta · 02/01/2009 15:23

Auntie, we got a priority booking form for the Sun holidays today

sfxmum · 02/01/2009 16:26

I did study for a respectable amount of time , now must do a bit more tonight hopefully dd will be asleep before 10pm which has been the norm for the past couple of nights

SJ99 · 02/01/2009 19:15

Slng - was just having that conversation with a single friend who I met earlier this week re: parties, he was actually wanting to stay in on NYE for this very reason. I didn't think twice about partying all nigt pre kids knowing you could sleep in til whenever

Steppy - all the best parties are the spontaneous ones

Sfx - must be hard motivating yourself during the holiday season so well done on study

Auntie - thanks for tip off

Had a nice day (nights are still rubbish), DC slightly better. The teething comes and goes so DS1 is Jekyll & Hyde atm. My bro took DS1 out for the day so went for walk & lunch with DH which was lovely.

mygreatauntgriselda4christmas · 02/01/2009 22:24

SJ hope you get some sleep tonight!!
Can't wait to meet your newborn (and Ros's) Met XoXo's yesterday - she is sooo pretty - got some pics so might try and upload them next week!!

Ros we got two lots of priority booking forms, which mens we really have to book LOL!!

mygreatauntgriselda4christmas · 02/01/2009 22:30

back from a pleasant couple of days in Brighton - caught up with a fellow Kazakh adopter who has a 4 yr old cutie who is little more caucasian than DS but remarkably similar. She has made me promise that we will make them marry because their children will be so beautiful!

Will try to post photos soon.

Finally caught up with bro and family and managed not to stab any of them when they insisted we look at their holiday snaps

Back to the Titanic work on Monday

mygreatauntgriselda4christmas · 04/01/2009 17:54
Smile
sfxmum · 04/01/2009 18:19

KC well done on not stabbing anyone
is the Titanic sailing in icy water?

we had a fabulous time at the panto dd was enthralled, was very amused by 4yr old who came on stage with other children, the pirate gave him a goodie bag and said 'it is gift vouchers from wollies' and the kid said ' but that place is closed now'

SJ99 · 04/01/2009 19:13

Sfx - which panto did you see? LOL at gag

Auntie - pop round for a cuppa to get your newborn fix, when are you free? Cannot believe he will be 8wks old tomorrow, oh and he rolled twice last week

KC - glad you had good trip to Brighton, good that DS marital future all secured
