Hello

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 10/09/2008 10:15

thanks CoV, I was searching for 3 wheel scooter and only getting a few hits.

Kewcumber · 10/09/2008 10:17

Mellow - thats why I holiday in the UK where possible - far too much like hard work lugging everything on a plane and entertaining DS on top!

slng · 10/09/2008 10:52

My phone won't charge! Do I just chuck it and get a new one? It is only(?) about 5 years old.

Work computer ill.

Gas "engineer" ill! Boiler service rescheduled to next week.

DVLA website down so can't pay for tax disc.

Washing hanging out and skies turning dark.

It's all going wrong. I blame it on the black hole.

I might as well work, I suppose.

sfxmum · 10/09/2008 11:04

so everyone cheerful this morning lurvely!

child at pre school but a bit reluctant today

mellow nice to see you back, hols in UK for me too less child trouble but dh constantly moaning about the weather, think those Irish Scottish genes have gone astray

bunyan how nice having your mum around, enjoy

paddle ouch sounds dear

never mind about black hole there is anti matter everywhere anyway
maybe in another dimension there are people worrying about some sort of weird ripple in the sky

sfxmum · 10/09/2008 11:05

ros can only meet after 1pm tomorrow so probably not suitable

mellow where is that availability timetable then?

have we decided on eat meet up yet?

Kewcumber · 10/09/2008 11:09

slng - if your SIM will work in my phone you can have mine "only" two years old as work are replacing it with swanky new one.

Alternatively you may be able to just buy a new battery.

Paddlechick666 · 10/09/2008 11:12

dd decided last evening that she didn't want to come home and she doesn't like our house but she wanted to stay at CM's house.

this morning she sobbed her heart out because she didn't want to go to CM's house and wanted me to take her to pre-school.

I give up!

Kewcumber · 10/09/2008 11:17

Paddle - over the weekend DS was saying "go bren's house (CM) then announced on Monday morning "not go Brens" and wailed like a banshee. He was fine though.

rosmerta · 10/09/2008 11:27

sfx, I could probably meet in the afternoon around 3 unless dd will be too tired?

Paddle, I think Woolworths & the toy dept in Bentalls do 3-wheel scooters for around £20.

Slng, your day can only improve surely?!

Speaking of nursery when I went to collect ds yesterday about 5 other kids wanted to come home with us

Kewcumber · 10/09/2008 11:30

childminding career in the offing Ros?

sfxmum · 10/09/2008 11:36

funny that when I pick dd up other kids tend to notice me first and there is a chorus of 'minisfx you mummy is here' and if I happen to sit one or two will come and sit on my lap much to dd's annoyance

ros will let you know tomorrow

about phones mine are always PAYG and usually last well over 4yrs I mostly just text, although there might be a cheaper way

ComeOVeneer · 10/09/2008 11:40

Paddle this any good?

slng · 10/09/2008 12:12

Kew - if SIM works in your phone then please please may I have it? How does one know? Shall we arrange to meet up? But first must investigate how broken the phone is.

The children in DS2's nursery would spot me, tell DS2, fetch his coat and bag, usher him to the door and ask me where DS1 is. Honestly. Sometimes you just want to be left alone.

A child there is getting a Wii for his 4th birthday! I refrain from being disapproving, thus not showing how old-fashioned and past it I am.

Ros - day not improving. Have to write reports on dissertations.

Paddlechick666 · 10/09/2008 12:24

CoV, that looks great. thanks.

sims will work in any phone but the it's the phone that needs to be unlocked unless you are using same service provider.

ie: an orange phone will not work with an o2 sim card.

you can take the orange phone to somewhere like carphone warehouse and get it unlocked tho.

if you're on a contract can you not ask your provider about a replacement phone?

CM has just texted that she can't take DD to pre-school on Wednesdays anymore as parking is difficult on wet days and on dry/walking days they arrive 30mins early due to the other school run.

Am a bit as CM recommended this pre-school but has criticised it since dd started there.

Pre-school won't allow one session per week so I am now left in a bit of a bind really.

Kewcumber · 10/09/2008 12:28

Think you just have to try it slng. I'm around on Sunday if you fancy a coffee and a phone trial!

Kewcumber · 10/09/2008 12:29

I think this phone may be unlockd as I'm pretty sure I have used my own sim as well as work in it and they're differnt networks.

Thats a bit of a bore Paddle.

MrsRecycle · 10/09/2008 12:52

I'm currently unlocking my T-Mobile phone so that dh can have it - we've moved to O2. Its' really really easy to do on the internet, just one word of warning, check that the website unlocks the model you need, don't assume that they unlock all phones. Hopefully my unlock code will appear soon.

At this present time, we're trying to get our car fixed, where dh decided to drive into a railway sleeper, and a quote that started out at £400 has gone up to £600 and is now likely to be a lot more. Maybe I should let ds lose on it with a hammer, he'd be able to fix it.

Your CM does seem to be messing you around Paddle - that really isn't fair. Could you rearrange the day's? Or drop her off yourself but reduce CM's fees?

Can't do meet-up tomorrow, as likely to be hung-over - going off to the King's Road tonight to meet up with a few dfs to watch the footie.

Kewcumber · 10/09/2008 12:59

what network are you slng?

slng · 10/09/2008 13:00

Kew - Orange, PAYG.

Kewcumber · 10/09/2008 13:04

ah haven't tried orange on it but worth a go if you can;t sort yours. It's a Nokia 6230i

Paddlechick666 · 10/09/2008 13:22

orange phones are a bit of a bugger to unlock.

not sure how an orange sim goes in a different phone tho.

this is quite informative adn seems to indicate that if a phone is unlocked then any sim can be used:

stepfordwife · 10/09/2008 13:24

hello everyone
hope all well
lol @ stories of hospital bags

with ds1 had bag bulging with..
candles theory* will be so calming to give birth by candle light
reality blow those £££@@@** candles out! they're making me hot.

  • aromatherapy oils (to burn and apply) theory so soothing, so holistic reality made me feel sick.

*whale music
theory i will be at one with my body in a hippy vibe sort of way
reality turn that bloody dirge off..it's getting on my nerves...

slng · 10/09/2008 13:37

OMG all this phone business is complicated. They sell nokia 6230i on orange (or so says Google) so may work. Will consult diary and email you re Sunday, Kew.

Steppie - LOL. Vikram Seth's "A Suitable Boy" and half-remembered yoga stuff got me through for DS2! I think I'm quite proud of myself.

sfxmum · 10/09/2008 13:43

candles and oils oh no I am not that holistic in fact I don't even like alternative 'medicine'

deep breathing and relaxation/ yoga fine but first birth I was either too tired and too scared

can anyone offer suggestion for a cordless home phone please, mine is driving me bonkers and needs replacing - thanks

brw dd was crying when I picked her up, second time now, am thinking it is because of mealtime she pretty much always refuses to eat, still she told me she had a good time

Paddlechick666 · 10/09/2008 13:59

MrsR, yeh I think she's being a bit unfair too tbh.

Not much I can do tho if she doesn't want to do it any longer. Other than switch dd into a different setting entirely which is a big big decision.
