Paddle what do you want me to do wth this ba of maternity clothes then?
(polite answers only please)

SJ/Ros/XoXo - have bag of mat clothes here - range from sizes 12-16

MrsRecycle · 10/09/2008 14:06

All this talk of unlocking, I thought I'd just try out the O2 sim card in the phone and it worked! So dh and I can now chat freely via O2. Plus browser set-up a lot more easier that ringing T-Mobile all the time. Am really impressed with O2 and their iphone.

Thats the problem with CMs, you have to fit in with their schedule/plans.

Paddlechick666 · 10/09/2008 14:12

mrsR, can you try sending me an email again? am in dispute with bigfoot now!

erm, SBS, I'll come and pick them up. am away this weekend tho.

have you got the 2 feeding pillows as well? am going to do an ebay purge to try and raise some of the car cash!

MrsRecycle · 10/09/2008 14:18

No sooner said than done!

MrsRecycle · 10/09/2008 14:20

meant to say, it takes 24 hours for them to search for your address and then I get a mail back saying you could not be found, even though I replied to your sent mail.

Paddlechick666 · 10/09/2008 14:23

yeh, that sounds "normal" as this is now the 3rd time it has happened this year.

i sent myself a test email which took 2 hours to come thru but it did actually come thru.

i have told them that it takes a day or even two for the send fail notification to come thru.

they are crappo!

Paddlechick666 · 10/09/2008 14:26

ta btw

Kewcumber · 10/09/2008 14:36

slng I suspect it will work because the phone was on contract not PAYG and I gather that its generally PAYG phones that they lock in a half-hearted attempt to stop you getting a cheaper PAYG chip and adding it to the cheap/free phone they gave you thinking you would spend load of money on their sim and make their costs back.

Phew no punctuation but hope you get what I mean!

SJ99 · 10/09/2008 14:44

Hello all

Slng - am impressed you could read Suitable Boy during labour I love that book. You might find a new battery does the trick. Don't buy from Orange shop though you'll get one MUCH cheaper on a battery website.

Steppie at hospital bag contents, sounds about right!

Kew - thanks for your v.kind offer, will getback to you, need to discuss with DH and decide what we're doing

Paddle - such a bummer with CM esp as she recommended the place

SBS - I have that blue top ta, it's quite big on me but nice and comfy!

Sfx - DS refuses drinks at preschool, not sure why. They said they kept offering but he said no, in the end they were saying do you want beer or wine instead and he thought that was hilarious! I guess it is part of their settling in process. DS not allowed to stay for lunch til he's settled into full session

Was meant to go to playdate this morning but the mum cancelled as her son was sick during the night so everyone came her instead! Now need to head to library as just realised that books are due back.

Ros - can't meet tom as my neighbour just invited me to a local playgroup, thought I would try it out, you/anyone else are welcome to join us though!

Kewcumber · 10/09/2008 14:57

Paddle - on reflection i do thin khtis may be a sign of your CM's relative inexperience... recommending the school as she thought it was good but not considering how she would manage pickup when she has more mindees as well as her own. My CM is pretty clear right from the start about where she will do pick up from.

rosmerta · 10/09/2008 15:00

Thanks sj, but I probably won't have the car tomorrow so won't be able to come over your way

susiecutiebananas · 10/09/2008 15:01

hello all.

not doing too well here at the moment. I am keeping up with all your chat though. Sorry not joining in.

Hope you are all well. Catch up soon properly I hope.

sfxmum · 10/09/2008 15:07

hi susie after you mentioned the BF prog on telly I had a quick look but they were discussing wet nurses in America and then some bloke drinking breast milk

might have made sense in context but was too tired to make an effort

Paddlechick666 · 10/09/2008 15:24

kew, i don't think it matters if a phone is contract or not. the service providers lock them regardless i believe.

you're probably right about CM. when dd started there she didn't have any other mindees. but she was making a condition that new mindees went to same pre-school in order to reduce drop off issues. the others that she's taken on aren't at pre-school yet tho.

if i can change her days then DM is willing to take her. not ideal as it means DM comes all this way to really only spend half a day with dd but what else can i do.

alternatively i could accept that i am going to be here for at least another year and place dd into some sort of nursery and drop pre-school. but i don't have the energy to really scope that out!

i watched a bit of the programme last night but was too tired to see it all the way thru. also made me way too broody!

Kewcumber · 10/09/2008 15:28

could she do two consecutive days, you go into work late after drop off DM arrives in time to pick up at lunchtime, second day DM drops off and picks up at lunchtime then heads home when you get home. DM still gets a full day (in two halves) but still only has to stay one night?

Full time day nursery sounds expensive?

Paddlechick666 · 10/09/2008 15:49

yeh, it could sort of work that way only i'd have to re-org my working week quite dramatically and it would mean going into the city for a half day which isn't worth it really.

FT day nursery would be about £15 a day extra but I think WTC would cover it tbh.

Kewcumber · 10/09/2008 15:51

not really half a day just from dropping DD off on day one (9.30?) so you'd be in work by 10.30 and could work late because DM would be there?

Only a thought, I know its complicated.

Paddlechick666 · 10/09/2008 15:59

ta, don't think it'd work tho. DM would have to change her night to stay, i'd have to do a half day in the city on a friday and i wouldn't be able to paddle occasionally on a weds.

hopefully DM will be okay with it and maybe once a month or something she can skip a session so DM can have her all day.

DM actually might like the idea of a couple of hours to herself whilst DD is there!

just wish CM had said something before the holidays and I could have explored other options.

not even sure if pre-school will change her days.

all the other pre-schools are fully subscribed now.

Kewcumber · 10/09/2008 16:02

"just wish CM had said something before the holidays and I could have explored other options" yes that would really piss me off.

I know DD likes her but would switching to another CM who already does pickup/drop there be an option.

SJ99 · 10/09/2008 19:21

Paddle - I hope you manage to sort something out with CM and preschool, seems a shame for DD to miss out because it's now inconvenient for CM

Ros - might have car next week, shall we try and meet next Weds or Thurs instead?

Mellow - welcome back Glad you enjoyed the break even though it was hard work

Susie - Nice to see you & your lovely DD earlier

Bunyan - have fun with your mum about, make good use of the extra pair of hands

Well better go and get the washing off the line soon before I forget/get too lazy

rosmerta · 10/09/2008 20:22

Sj, next Thurs would be good! I can try & get the car as well if you can't.

Susie, sorry things aren't going well, hope you're ok.

Sfx, just watched the last episode of BSG, can't wait for it to come back! Unfortunately not until next year

SJ99 · 10/09/2008 20:40

Ros - it's a date, will keep next Thurs free we can work out details next week

Was BF programme any good? I meant to watch it and completely forgot it was on

sfxmum · 10/09/2008 20:41

Ros something tell me they are not big on happy endings can't wait

am trying to be helpful and supportive about some extended family issues but I might just throttle BIL surely justifiable homicide

quite tired today and need to study but also feeling quite emotional and in need of distraction

rosmerta · 10/09/2008 20:45

Sfx, yes can't see a happy ending overall . Do you know about the spin-off series, Caprica?

Sorry to hear about the family issues, hope its not too serious.

Sj, I will have to literally write it in my diary as I keep forgetting things now

bunyanvillas · 10/09/2008 20:47

Hello all, just on here VERY briefly and no time to properly catch up. However - Susie - so sorry to hear things are not great at the moment. Hope there is an improvement soon.

Paddle - totally confused regarding the car parking issues your CM has? There is a car park at the pre-school, I used it every day. What is her problem there? Hope all's ok, we must try and catch up soon.

Everyone else - hope you are all very well We are around next week, can perhaps try and catch up.
