Hello

OP posts:
SJ99 · 09/09/2008 15:37

Yes so many other things to sort out first before Christmas enters my head.

Ros - like you not many things required for baby but I am how much stuff you're meant to take to hostpital with you. In Sweden all I had to bring were clothes for me and for newborn the rest was all provided, here it sounds like I need to pack a suitcase or 2

Also have to decide what to do for DS b'day - want to make a fuss of him so he doesn't feel left out but have to bear in mind baby might only be 1wk old
Also DH b'day in Nov!

ComeOVeneer · 09/09/2008 15:47

SJ you have an excuse!!!!

I just found a load of bargains more than being organised. However ds's b'day is the week before christmas, dd's the week after new year. Also have to organise the school christmas fair, the school christmas shopping eveing, and the quiz night, plus a halloween do etc for the PTA so anything I can get out the way is a bonus.

sfxmum · 09/09/2008 16:03

SJ you should let us organise a bash for ds kinda like a pressie to you

re hospital bag take flash wipes you ca never guarantee the state of the toilets and bath/ shower

stepfordwife · 09/09/2008 17:37

christmas shopping

SJ99 · 09/09/2008 18:49

Thanks Sfx, v. sweet of you to offer
Let me check out a few options first, plus have the GP's visits to co-ordinate, just thinking about it makes my head hurt. At least I have bought DS b'day pressie, phew one thing out of the way

Must add wipes to my hospital list then

MrsRecycle · 09/09/2008 19:12

I completed my XMas shopping for the LOs in March - told them we were going to Tenerife for Christmas and they said that was the best Christmas present ever and they wouldn't mind in Santa didn't bring them anything. Result!

Paddle have been trying to email you to tell you my iphone is brilliant but the mail keeps on getting bounced. So thought I'd post on here!

Paddlechick666 · 09/09/2008 19:35

yeh i think my bigfoot addy is stuffed again

try blueyonder.

slng · 09/09/2008 19:45

When I went into hospital for DS1 (yes got him cheap at the sales) I packed all the stuff they told you to. But I got taken away to the labour ward and left EVERYTHING in the antenatal ward so A FAT LOT OF GOOD IT DID ME.

With DS2 - had him at home. Bliss!

sfxmum · 09/09/2008 19:48

how did you swing a home birth in London? am in awe!

I didn't go to a general ward just straight into a delivery room for nearly 2 days
I used the stuff I took especially the food and water

slng · 09/09/2008 19:58

I had a funny community midwife - she was really against it until I assured her that I would hoof it to the hospital (10min drive away) at the first sign of anything going wrong and that I'm NOT MAD. Then she was all supportive, even convinced herself and me that we have consulted with the consultant. (In fact I did consult with the consultant who looked like a cadaver and whose words were "personally I always advise against it because it always goes wrong". Of course it always goes wrong from his point of view!!! That's what he is for!!! Doh!)

But it did nearly go wrong. Labour to delivery was about 1+ hour. Nobody believed it would be so fast. Midwife arrived as baby did. I don't like to think about it too much.

slng · 09/09/2008 19:59

But I would still choose it over hospital if I were to do it again, which I AM NOT.

sillybigsausage · 09/09/2008 20:25

Paddle

Kewcumber · 09/09/2008 22:33

SJ aren;t our two DS's about a week apart? I was just going to have a very small party ont eh Friday afternoon of his birthday week at Kidzone where they will do the food for a max of 6 childrne (so very small). I'm sure we could either share that or perhaps do something else joint and I can organise it as I would be anyway. We'll be doing an adult thing on the Sat anyway so not too fussed if its on his actual birthday.

mellow2 · 10/09/2008 08:08

Hello all,

We got back from Italy yesterday and we are absolutely knackered. I didn't know that going on holiday with a young child can be so exhausting. I think we'll have to re-think our holiday plans for the future.

I hope everyone is well.

bunyanvillas · 10/09/2008 08:51

Gosh good idea re: the wipes! I packed a wheely case (small!) for my hospital sojourn and was in and out so quickly that I used barely anything. You might be surprised at the speed second time round, SJ . Flipflops to wear in the shower are also a good plan.

Mellow - and now you need a holiday to recover from the holiday, eh? Still, it was a change of scene and must have been lovely to get away (envy]

My mother is arriving this morning for a few days so I won't be around too much on here. Will report back soon! Off now for an emergency whip-round with a duster!

Hello bunyan.

You're right. I shouldn't complain. We did get some nice weather.

I'll hope you'll have a pleasant few days with your mom.

rosmerta · 10/09/2008 09:10

Mellow, nice to see you back!

Bunyan, hope you have a lovely time with your mum. How was your morning off btw?

Does anyone fancy meeting up tomorrow? Not sure what the weather's going to be like so don't know if Kew's possible

Paddlechick666 · 10/09/2008 09:14

15 minutes to go till the end of the world!

at least if we all get sucked into a black hole I won't be so gutted about my £500 car bill.

rosmerta · 10/09/2008 09:17

lol Paddle, very exciting though!

We've just had a huge car bill as well, that was our bedroom redecoration fund . Bloody mots!

mellow2 · 10/09/2008 09:23

lol, paddle.

Hello, ros.

Paddlechick666 · 10/09/2008 09:34

yeh, serious dent in my kitchen re-fit fund now.

guess we've survived the big bang then.

what does blow molded wheel mean? am looking for a scooter for dd for her birthday. really don't want anything with plastic wheels, want proper rubbery ones iykwim

rosmerta · 10/09/2008 09:40

paddle, have no idea what that means but if it helps we got the ever popular mini micro scooter for ds & he loves it. You're welcome to come over and have a look to see if she'd like it.

ComeOVeneer · 10/09/2008 09:41

No idea paddle!

Yep cars sure do eat into funds. Still have to take ours to have wing mirror repaired after the hit and run incident. There was talk of new door panel and respray etc . How long do you think gaffer (sp)tape is a viable alternative for?

Paddlechick666 · 10/09/2008 09:44

ros, looks fab but is about twice what i can afford tbh.

CoV, gaffer tape is perfectly fine indefinately. Just keep replacing it when it gets manky then shell out to have it fixed when you sell.

ComeOVeneer · 10/09/2008 09:59

Paddle loads of those scooters on ebay.
