Hello

OP posts:
SushiMummy · 04/09/2008 12:58

Afternoon all.

Paddle - about the sad story. Poor child.

steppie - welcome back!

susie - enjoy your nap!

MrsR - glad you are feeling a little better.

sfx - my DS loves the male carer, too [E - right?]. Sadly he's going back to his country to be a teacher in a few months. Glad your DD is settling in well. Can she read already? Wow!

QC - Thomasland looks good. Deffo next year! Where is 1o'clock club?

Kewcumber · 04/09/2008 12:59

1 oclock club is in Marble HIll but predominantly outside so not really any good in the rain.

Can you remember (or get your DH to remind me) where he got the admission distances for Kew primaries. I found them on the council websites once but have lost them again.

SushiMummy · 04/09/2008 13:07

QC - I'll ask DH. I think he had an e back from the coucil with the details. Is the 07 one due out soon?

SJ99 · 04/09/2008 13:09

Hello all

Susie - sorry to hear DD is no better, maybe a trip to the docs might help

Sfx - IKWYM about leaving the LO's, I found it weird, it was nice to have some time to myself (went to library and read Gordon Ramsey's autobio!) but was constantly thinking what Ds would be up to and hoping that he was alright

Ros/Bunyan - sorry didn't make it to Lollipop, didn't get home from dentist til 11am. Hope you had fun.

Steppie - LOL, btw what is a yomp?

Dentist went well, I was a tad worried as I hadn't been for 6yrs but luckily no probs. DS refused to open his mouth on cue so she just randomly checked his teeth whenever he was laughing/talking

SushiMummy · 04/09/2008 13:17

For QC - "With regard to Kew Riverside , the school is now regularly over-subscribed. The school has 30 places available. Children who have a statement of Special Need are given the highest priority, then children who are Looked After, then siblings and then non-siblings , who are allocated by proximity of the home address to the school. It follows that in a year when there is a high sibling call on places there are less places for non-siblings. Last year for children entering the school in Sept 2007 the cut-off distance was 688 metres from the school. In 2006 the distance was 1084 metres. Figures for 2008 admissions will not be available until early April 2008."

So 08 one is out.

SJ - hello! [waves]

SJ99 · 04/09/2008 13:20

Susie - meant to say if you just want fun plastic ones all different shapes, I got a big box from Tesco which I let DS use, good for playdoh too. For nice fancy cutters you could try that lovely cookshop in Richmond.

Hello Sushi - how are you? Long time no see/speak!

Kewcumber · 04/09/2008 13:21

I've emailed coucnil to ask for it - we may fall out of catchment I think we are about 750 metres by walking (which is how they measure rather than as crow flies).

Think it will probably be Darrell for us as I think they added an extra class last year (no idea if they will do it again) apparently more people are going state than private in this area because primaries are good and cash is tight.

I think people who always planned to go state should be given priority

SushiMummy · 04/09/2008 13:32

SJ - I'm good, thanks. How's the new house? Does your DH still travel a lot?

QC - Darrell is great but what would if we are out of their catchment, too? Queens is out for us, we might be left with no state school for DS?

sfxmum · 04/09/2008 13:33

less than 700m guess it is lucky the other side is the cemetery otherwise it would be 400 non?

sushi of course she can't read but she recognises her name in print
did not know about E leaving think dd will be very upset she really likes him

susie did same as SJ for cheap cookie cutters/ playdough stuff

mrsR hope you and dd are feeling better soon how rotten

we will go to the nursery tomorrow at 10.30 for this animal handling thing but should be home in time for lunch should anyone like to join us

sfxmum · 04/09/2008 13:35

I though there is a huge drop out rate from KR primary as people move away a lot

Kewcumber · 04/09/2008 13:47

Sushi - council have to offer you a place. Marshgate isn;t far from you is it? I hear thats quite good and like Riverside new facilities. Its just that KR is no easy for us to walk to. Others are all a bit more of a hike (from she not used to hiking!)

rosmerta · 04/09/2008 13:57

Talk of schools is making my head hurt! Was wondering whether to ring the school we'll be applying to & see when we can get the application forms but think I'll leave it a few weeks.

Lollipop was packed this morning & ds wore himself out. Bunyan, nice to see you & dcs! As predicted, ds was absolutely fine as soon as I got out of the door!

Sj, sorry you couldn't make it, maybe another time. Ds has been asking when he's going to play with minisj again!

Susie, sorry to hear dd isn't very well, hope she gets better soon & you have a better night tonight.

Kewcumber · 04/09/2008 13:59

Ros we can't apply until next Autumn. You have to get the apllication in no later than Dec the year before they start and IIRC your DS will start same time as mine Sept 2010?

SushiMummy · 04/09/2008 14:00

Marshgate (the one near Richmond park?) is about 30 walk for me (I don't drive) so it'd be really awkward. Oh well, we'll just have to wait and see.

sfx - I really fancy like E, too.

Kewcumber · 04/09/2008 14:02

but isn;t DS going to KC? Or hasn;t he got a place yet? Anyway if its a problme make DH do it

rosmerta · 04/09/2008 14:03

Thanks Kew, this is for him to start nursery school which will be Sept 2009, I think they start reception Sept 2010. Or at least that's what the school suggested to me when I first spoke to them.

SushiMummy · 04/09/2008 14:05

We don't know about KC till next month. All the primary schools in Kew/Richmond, regarless state/private are oversubscribed, aren't they?

sfxmum · 04/09/2008 14:08

from a shallow point of view I wish the school had a pretty uniform they look so cute especially the little ones

Kewcumber · 04/09/2008 14:09

yes but they solved it last year by two of the primaries taking an extra class so its exceptional that they have to look at other borough schools (which I assume is the next step)

Kewcumber · 04/09/2008 14:10

oh yes nursery - private can apply whenever you like state would be autumn this year I think.

SJ99 · 04/09/2008 14:36

Does state school/council send you the forms? All school talk = head hurt too

Sfx - we might take you up on your offer tom. Will see how DS is after preschool. We might get to yours about 12.30pm is that ok? Do you want me to bring anything?

Ros - won't have the car next week as it's DH last week in Bristol but after that I should be a bit more mobile so we can definitely meet up

Kewcumber · 04/09/2008 14:39

I don;t know but you can download then from the Richmond website (have already checked) so anyone with admission in Richmond in same year as DS need not worry - I have it organised unless you are competing with DS for a place in which case I may forget to tell you when the forms are due in

Weird to think how many of us will have dc's strating same year...

KEwC
Sushi
Paddle
SJ
Ros

Anyone else?

sfxmum · 04/09/2008 14:44

SJ that would be fine and no don't have to bring anything, shopping arriving today

so next year reception starters are my dd mini steppie and mini bunyan?

nursery sorted out the paperwork for the grant today they seem very efficient

rosmerta · 04/09/2008 14:47

oh yes, need to speak to ds's current nursery to check they do take the funded places!

Sj, I think you get them from the council unless you're applying to a church school when you get them direct from the school!

I did speak to the school & they asked me to call back in a couple of weeks when the forms will be ready so guess nursery applications have to be in pretty smartish!

bunyanvillas · 04/09/2008 14:47

OMG Ros, we have only just got home from Lollipop dd made firm friends with another little girl the same age and myself and the dad sat and chatted. ds slept until 1pm! Back home, dd relaxing with some telly and me about to hoover (gasp)!
