Hello

OP posts:
slng · 03/09/2008 20:05

language, steppie, language.

bunyanvillas · 03/09/2008 20:30

Mrs R, sorry you are poorly and how crap for you with so much to do, as well. Hope the anti-bs kick in asap.

Paddle - am to hear that story. It is horrific. The poor child .

Ros - yes, most definitely up for tomorrow, dd can't wait! We'll get there for ten-ish, I expect. Note: these days I always add an "ish" to the end of any proposed timing

Paddle, you are carpeting the living room for noise reduction, is that right? You could always stick down some newspaper or a piece of plastic stuff at mealtimes to keep it all nice. Get a remnant of oilcloth or something like that so it would still look cool?

SJ, take it easy - early night! Sounds like a fun, mad day. Home visit was fine, it was actually banana & apple cake as the shortbread was one of yesterday's disasters. 2 teachers turned up and during the visit ds threw a major wobbly and dd was rather precocious!

sfxmum · 03/09/2008 20:41

chucks over a choc chip cookie and an oatmeal and raisin cookie over to SJ

enjoy lollipop no idea when I will feel like showing my face there again, on the last day dd did a wee in the ball pool, you have been warned

am so tired I expect this will change but I really missed dd today

rosmerta · 03/09/2008 20:44

bunyan, will see you tomorrow, no doubt it will be closer to 10.30!

bunyanvillas · 03/09/2008 20:46

SFX, you and dd will gradually ease into the new set-up. I am finding now that things are starting to shift and evolve and once again next year it will be more change. It can be hard at first. On a lighter note - good job you have some yummy cookies to tuck into!

Will avoid the ball pit, then. Obviously my dd would never do such a thing.

Kewcumber · 03/09/2008 20:49

apparently there is a party at 1oclock club on Sat if anyone is interested - I thought I would go if its not pouring (which is quite a big IF)

sfxmum · 03/09/2008 21:11

thanks bunyan of course you are right, she was very cheerful when I picked her up but at some point in the evening she said she had been sad and sucked her thumb and then someone kept her company and made her feel better 'while you were away mummy'

anyway we will have to get used to it, much worst if she was just plunged into everyday all of a sudden next year I guess
and she does like it but I miss my baby

'I am not a baby any more mummy' sob sob

btw I did tell them about the ball pool

sillybigsausage · 03/09/2008 21:19

Wow to LO's ("babies") starting nursery eh????

Paddle we used to use a plastic mat undr the table for mealtims to keep floor clean (can't be arsed anymore though LOL)

Slng they don't call it streaming but once in Infants, they sit at tables according to ability - so it all gets very competitive (by that I mean the parents not the DCs) about "which table" one's LO is sitting at, and who with

I remember bringing home a very bright boy for tea with DS1 and snother boy from the same class (whose Mum was in tow)

I caught the Mum going through the reading packet of the very bright boy, to see what "level" books he was reading and checking what "stage" he was at, so she could then compare to her own DS and ascertain whether her DS was "as bright" as clever clogs .

This was when they were aged just 5 an in their first Infant year!!

slng · 03/09/2008 21:25

Sausage - I have heard about this "streaming" from a friend whose son is in yr 1. She is not impressed as the "streaming" seems to depend on how vocal the children are and her son is a quiet boy... Still, best not to be caught up with scary things like this, I guess.

susiecutiebananas · 03/09/2008 22:31

Evening ladies

Wow, that took a long time to catch up! .

I've had a really rotten day. DD not well over night again, I'm beginning to wonder if it's asthma that she as, rather than a chest infection. She is coughing a little bit in day, occasionally, but so much at night. She was so poorly last night, so pale, and floppy. It was horrible to be on my own with her like that. I didn't really sleep much. Ended up putting Shrek 3 on at 4:30am as se was wide awake, tearful and unhappy and I was so incredibly tired! So she lay watching it and I dozed. We both woke again at 8:30am to the titles going round again, it must have played 3/4 times whilst we slept!

Mum came and had her for a couple of hours as I was so tired and started feeling unwell myself. She played wit grandad on the carpet for a bit apparently, then got up, took mums handbag waited by the frotn door saying Mummy, come on granny, mummy, go, come on... so she got the hint she wanted to come home!

Can't bare the thought of Izzy starting nursery, pre-school or school... I don't even like the thought that se will be 2 before too long!

HOPe you feel better soon Mrs R. what rotten luck straight after a holiday. -make sure you take plenty of fluids and rest please young lady

Any decisions on tomorrow folks? I'm car less at least in the morning so not sure what, if anything i can get our to tomorrow...

Calling all cookie makers! I need a good cookie recipe please, pref choc chip! I've tried 3 now, and they've all been very hit and miss.. the muffins I made tis weeks were just gorgeous. Really easy banana muffins. must put the recipe on the recipe section here...

Oh, lastly, have started enquiries about legal proceedings aout my injury. Got turned down by a no win no fee company as they felt it was not an 'easy' case. have spoken with my home insurance. I'm covered for legal advice with possible representation... fingers crossed hey!

Hope you are all ok. Sorry for no personals, there were just toooooo many! Good to see you holidiay makers returning though!

sfxmum · 04/09/2008 08:59

good morning all

susie I hope LO is better and you managed to sleep

SBS competitive prenting of that sort only damages the children people need to get a grip really.
have known about streaming and providing the right kind of challenge pitched at the right level can be good but I have my doubts about how the assesssing is done

feeling fragile about leving dd at nursery today must get a grip asap

susiecutiebananas · 04/09/2008 09:10

It's understandable that you feel like tat SFX. Honestly It will get better in time.

My car has been collected already. I feel stranded, which is really odd, since I only started driving again so recently.

My bloody keyboard is drivinng me mad! I've lost te N and B keys so ave to push really ard in te gap to get them to work, and now my H key is playing up. Anyone know ( or have a fella that will know) how I can get them replaced? I'm on a Mac ( macbook pro ) and I can't see how they can be mended Any help greatly appreciated!

Will check in here later to see if you are all up to anything ad will join you if I can.

bunyanvillas · 04/09/2008 09:11

Morning, All! Susie, hope your dd is ok today and you both had a better night. That was very tough for you yesterday.

SFX, can you get out for a nice, brisk walk while dd is at nursery? Give it a couple of weeks or even just another week and you might feel more at ease.

Well, we are off to the Lollipop Club this morning. Wah!!! But still, dd will love it.

OP posts:
susiecutiebananas · 04/09/2008 09:15

Oh, thanks both of you for asking. DD still not great.Last night was marginally better than the one before. Will take her to GP this eve if she is still not so good. Maybe she does need Anti B's after all.

slng · 04/09/2008 09:42

sfx - go window-shopping. Works for me... But must mark dissertations now

stepfordwife · 04/09/2008 09:43

yes gods, i'm pre-menstrual

ALL RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!

stepfordwife · 04/09/2008 09:49

sorry you had a rough night, susie

sbs..i know! can't stand parents being in competition over their kids. pathetic. makes you wonder whose thwarted ambitions are being pushed again, eh?

kew, i don't think it's cricket, old gel, to gatecrash a private party!

may be up for it actually as dh and boys are going to swan about in a box at twickers on sat.

stepfordwife · 04/09/2008 09:51

..keep misreading this thread as september fornication..

stepfordwife · 04/09/2008 10:30

oh dear, i've frightened you all off with
a) my bad language (sorry, sing) or...
b) my foul PMT mood or....
c) my smutty mind...or...
d) combo of all above
apologies

was planning a yomp with dh in richmond hill but don't fancy getting rained on...
hopefully can persuade him to drink cawfee, eat chocolate croissants and read paper in a coffee shop instead...

oh, and give your dd a big cuddle when you pick her up, sfx. although inyour head, you know they'll get so much out of it and, believe me, you'll soon appreciate a bit of time to yourself, emotionally you feel wobbly because, as another stage begins, we grieve the end of a stage.

have a lovely day, everyone
toodlepip

Kewcumber · 04/09/2008 10:38

d)

sfxmum · 04/09/2008 10:42

on the way in the manager told us about an extra activity tomorrow when some people are coming in with animals for the kids to handle
oh mummy can I come too can I? can I? I love bugs

guess she is ok then
grateful to you lot for indulging me

went looking for shoes but nothing I like in the price I can afford
still it is quite novel this browsing business

slng · 04/09/2008 11:04

Steppie -

sfx - I love browsing. I am shallow.

DS1 went off to school today saying he likes big school, but was the last one to go in, lingering and looking back. Everyone was laughing about it. But it doesn't matter. We are thick-skinned.

sfxmum · 04/09/2008 11:35

I believe I am suppose to vacuum, dd advised me I could do it while she is away

MrsRecycle · 04/09/2008 12:34

susie [choke] "young" - thank you for your compliment! Sorry dd isn't at all well - take her to the docs and get some antib's, she'll turn a corner in no time.

Feeling a bit better today - dds' despatched off to school and ds sleeping. Must have a record for docs appointment - saw 2 Docs at the sametime today, and next follow-up is tomorrow morning. Also, hopefully pc is back from the clinic tomorros - apparently my documents were on a time-bomb waiting to self-destruct at anytime.

susiecutiebananas · 04/09/2008 12:36

Car back already!!! and it's been cleaned inside and out. I'm staggered

Need to pop into kingston after DDs nap to go to bank, then change my phone which is faulty. Am also going to look for some cookie cutters, any suggestions where I might find some? Would like some different shapes as well as the traditional round/ serrated ones.

Might have a little nap now though, whilst she is!

steppie- not scared off at all. Hope you manage that relaxing cafe visit. oh, and you are not the only one who's mis reading the thread title in that way

Slng- don't envy you with the marking. Hope you find something interesting to read in amongst it all!

Right, I really must get off the net and get on with having a nap something important.
