Hello

SFX, we're around this week if you would like some help getting through the cookies. Apart from tomorrow am when I think we are Lollipopping with Ros

Love all this talk of baking, feeling hungry now, the cottage cheese sandwich did not quite cut it.

Kew - have you ever tried the playgroup at St Stephen's church, Marble Hill? It's great! Tues and Fri mornings I think - you might need to check. And only £2. V well run with lots of different activities and a little singalong at the end. 10am-1130am. I'm going to start going back to this.

Actually yes I had forgoten about that one only been there once before - has it started again yet?

bunyanvillas · 03/09/2008 13:10

Oh - good point! Dunno but I guess it could be soon (vague emoticon)

Sushi This is ThomasLand which we were talking about I thought I'd take DS next year and possibly stay locally overnight to get value out of the day.

sfxmum · 03/09/2008 13:35

we nearly went to Thomasland earlier in the summer on our way from inlaws but dd seemed far too tired we might try and fit it at some point am sure dd would love it.

pre school went well she seems to favour the guy teacher person (what do you call them?)

am going this Saturday to the food morning at nursery apparently food tasting and smoothies on offer

MrsRecycle · 03/09/2008 14:31

I'm back - albeit hanging by a thread...Where do I start? Had to come home to see Doc, have chest infection so am on antibiotics. My pc is also ill and currently in the pc-docs getting mended so limited internet but they managed to find my files so at least I haven't lost everything.

Hope everyone is ok. Off to sort out uniforms for tomorrow (mine don't go back until then) and climb the laundary mountain in my kitchen (chores never stop even though you're ill do they?).

slng · 03/09/2008 14:53

Hello MrsR - welcome back! Sorry you are ill. Hope antibiotics will get you better soon!

Ros - AB superstore did the basic bath rack thing for £4.99 so I got one. I love AB Superstore. I think they will shut though when they "develop" Ealing town centre. Cargo also has a wider rack thing for £14.99, but not the all-singing-all-dancing one in your link!

Must go pick up DS2 and then DS1!

Kewcumber · 03/09/2008 15:07

Hi MrsR sorry you're not well. DS still says to me intemittantly "Where G?" and "GO DANCE"

Paddlechick666 · 03/09/2008 15:25

MrsR, sorry you're not feeling well. Hope the laundry fairy visits you soon

Just saw the most heart rending thing. Mother and child (clearly first day of school) trudging past house as child (clearly exhausted) moans and dawdles.

Child stops, mother keeps walking. And walking, and walking. Child eventually throws herself on ground and sobs uncontrollably.

Mother waits, and waits and waits. Child eventually gets up and starts to walk towards mother who then disappears around the corner.

Child lies down crying again. I'm now leaning out the window watching and wondering if to go down to the child. Eventually mother re-appears marches over to child and whacks her around the head with her shoe

Poor little girl. Made me feel sick quite frankly.

Kewcumber · 03/09/2008 15:49

"whacks her around the head with her shoe"

sfxmum · 03/09/2008 15:55

christ I can't cope with that sort of thing these days imagine what goes on behind closed doors
just a couple of nights ago we heard from across the road some truly appalling treatment of a young child, this at around 10pm really awful

mrsR sorry you are feeling poorly hope it gets better soon

bunyan you are welcome to pop along of course

susie if you are about I still have those boots for dd if you wan to have a look at them see if it suits _ how are you?

slng · 03/09/2008 16:12

Paddle -

rosmerta · 03/09/2008 16:19

paddle

slng, glad you got something. Btw, how long has the Ealing town centre been in development for? Probably about the same time as Brentford high st!

MrsR, sorry you're not feeling well

bunyan, are you still up for lollipop tomorrow am?

slng · 03/09/2008 16:40

Ros - this is the development with some high rise stuff ("the leaf") designed by someone famous and has met with lots of objections and has resulted in the leaf being "pruned" etc etc ad nauseum. The only thing we care about is that AB superstore will be gone... The broadway centre is in a sorry state these days with half the shops gone (rumours has it that they didn't think they could compete with Primark.)

sfxmum · 03/09/2008 16:44

speaking of Ealing regeneration, is crossrail still going ahead?

seem to recall huge opposition to it
have not been to shopping centre in Ealing in ages

sfxmum · 03/09/2008 16:48

just google the leaf Lordy I can see why the objections, seems really out of place, signature Rogers alright

rosmerta · 03/09/2008 17:25

sfx, I've just googled it as well , doesn't seem to quite fit in in Ealing!

slng, I had noticed that loads of shops had closed, wondered if it was to do with rents going up but Primark makes more sense!

sfxmum · 03/09/2008 17:36

dh told me yesterday he had made a food order for today so I planned accordingly and was counting on a couple of things due to arrive
turns out it is tomorrow

just how do you do that?

have loads of cookies now

ComeOVeneer · 03/09/2008 17:54

sfx what a pain. I was so organised that I did an internet shop booked for the day after we got back from holidays (thank goodness given the weather on Sunday) however because of some problems with weird substitutions (eg tinned cat food instead of tinned tuna) I now have decided to simply not accept any substitutions. All generally goes well. However on unday they had run out of the type of sliced bread I ordered (usually make my own but neded some until I could be bothred) and for some reason Sainsburys have run out of 4pt bottles of semi skimmed milk. Because I choose no substitutions we had no bread or milk!

MrsR sorry to hear you are poorly. Did you have a nice time away or where you ill for a lot of it?

Paddle - what a horrid sight, poor little mite! Hope it was just a very bad day for the mum and not a normal scenario.

Paddlechick666 · 03/09/2008 17:59

I did that when I got back from the US too CoV.

I generally let them substitute then reject the substitution if it doesn't pass muster.

Went to tesco express in whitton this arvo, what a shocker of a shop!

Doing a day of DIY tomorrow, putting a piece of carpet down in the lounge. I am really not sure about this idea. For a start it covers my beautiful floor that I worked so hard to lay. More crucially it will mean major clean ups after every meal instead of a quick wipe down with a wet wipe!

Another picnic supper for me of brie, pate and olives YUM!

sillybigsausage · 03/09/2008 18:52

Talking of Ealing "regen" - has anyone heard that the Board who manage Gunnersbury Park (gorgeous place) are planning to build properties on it?

This is a truly outrageous plan and I hope that local opposition from LB's Eaing and Housnlow will stop the development!

Did anyone see Gordon Brown on TV last night talking about mortgage schemes - he visited one of the schemes were I work and our Director met him! He was talking about Homebuy and scheme forshared ownership that we developed which is now being rolled out nationally

OK 15 mins of fame over...

BTW I think the Gov package is crap (ditto what Paddle said about Londoners)

MrsR welcome back - sorry you have a horrible chest infection you poor thing! I hope the ABs kick in pronto. When you are better we must meet for lunch or a cuppa when I finish work maybe in Ealing? BTW thnx for all those girly togs from your DDs - DD is still parading round in them!!

We prob won't go to Camber this weekend 'cos
1 DH has to work Sat/Sun
2 Its set to pour down

Steppy nice to have you back [waves]

Have just had to revise DS1 as he has test tomorrow to stream him - they don't call it streaming nowadays but it is

Well the DCs were back at school yesterday and the cleaner came today - ahhhhh enjoyed several hours of peace and tranquility - while DS2 slept

sillybigsausage · 03/09/2008 18:55

Paddle [ shock] at child abuse - is it any wonder kids grow into yobs when their parents treat them like that?

slng · 03/09/2008 19:26

Paddle - when we rented and had carpeted floor we used to line the carpet with newspaper or one of those disposable table lining things when DS1 was being fed. The aftermaths were not too bad.

Sausage - how old is DS1? I thought recent research showed that streaming does neither "poorer" nor "brighter" students any good. Hope DS1 not too bothered.

DS1 seemed to have had a decent day at school. He said he will observe further before making moves to make friends!

SJ99 · 03/09/2008 19:48

Hello all

I am exhausted, (that is just trying to keep up with this thread ). My friend from B'ham came to visit today with her 2 boys (18mths & 3.5yrs), they were really hard work and quite boisterous, lots of crowd control required! It was really nice to see my friend but I think I'll be having an early night tonight & a quiet day tomorrow! Think I need some virtual cookies SFX

Paddle - at incident, unbelievable, poor child

MrsR - sorry to hear you're ill, take it easy

Bunyan - how did shortbread and home visit go?

Steppie - welcome back!

Ros - wishing you all a better night's sleep tonight, I wonder what kept DS awake?

KC - I think Cheeky Monkeys doesn't start til next week. Bit gutted that DS can't go there anymore as clashes with preschool, he used to enjoy it

Slng - what age do they start streaming?

Off for some tv and ice cream now

stepfordwife · 03/09/2008 20:01
