SJ99 · 19/08/2008 21:16

sfxmum · 19/08/2008 21:23

there is this but the one I knew about is no longer selling where I knew it was iyswim

SJ99 · 19/08/2008 21:32

Thanks, will google some more. Will ask landlord if we can fit to the tap. Then need to ask DH to install it

slng · 19/08/2008 21:33

I know it's sacrilegious to say so but I don't like basmati rice... Prefer stickier rice.

sfx - tried banana maple pecan bun but don't really like it - tastes a bit too intense. Tried red onion minus olive bun - very interesting method and nice result. Just found this and will try soon.

sfxmum · 19/08/2008 21:37

thanks slng was thinking buns for dh sandwiches so going for savoury

SJ thanks for email

SJ99 · 19/08/2008 21:42

No worries Sfx

Made those courgette muffins again for lunch today, both boys seem to enjoy eating them.
Will try that choc/pear cake soon too, soudns nice!

Right, off to read in bed, am determined to finish my book this week which I started back in Feb

susiecutiebananas · 19/08/2008 21:43

hellooooooo all

How are you all doing? am around tomorrow afteroon if you fancy a coffee and cake somewhere or anything really SFX - of course, or anyone else! Just that I saw your posts asking for meeting up SFX!

We've had my Best Friend over all day today, she's 30 wks pg and looking all lovely and blooming. Izzy kept pointing and patting her bump, saying ahh baby, then turning to me doing the same

We tlaked about what she needs to get and what she really can live without! Was fun to think back to those early days. Plus nice to pass on some ''wisdom" !

Sorry not read all thread so hope you are all ok.

sfxmum · 19/08/2008 21:56

hi Susie
what do you need? not much waht you want to buy ? everything

I am likely going swimming tomorrow so will be in Richmond afternoon otherwise will walk up to kew gardens and eat there

paddle said you could not find the cafe the other day, I walked past it on Saturday and it was still there puzzling

sfxmum · 19/08/2008 21:58

off to read my book now night night

susiecutiebananas · 19/08/2008 22:21

you're right with that one SFX! She is really sensible though, ad researches everything very thoroughly. PLus she has many friends with babies of all ages including a very little nephew, I think he's about 5 months old so I presume her sis will pass some of the early necessities on!

Are you swimming with DD? where do you go? We nearly went today, but got too engrossed with the loooong list We were going to go to hampton open air pool.

We really looked every where for the cafe. The only thing we could see was an art gallery of some sort, right under/inside the bridge!

Would you like a couple of girls for company too, tomorrow then? i've got Occ health at 11am for probably half an hour. Then i've the rest of the day. We will need to eat too somewhere at some stage! Anyway, maybe you could let me know in morning if you do fancy it.

rosmerta · 20/08/2008 08:31

morning!

Dh bless him has taken the morning off work and is going to take ds swimming so I can have a rest. Can't believe my hormonal behavior made such an impression on him!

mellow2 · 20/08/2008 08:35

Morning everyone.

We have 4 kinds of rice: japanese and jasmine rice from specialist food shops and risotto and basmati from supermarkets. I like having the right rice with the right cuisine.

I should probably check out the water filter too. Sfx, did you try Brita water filter? What did you think? I didn't think it made that much of a difference.

Sfx and susie,
Are you talking about the art gallery cafe under Kew Bridge? There was a sign in the playground that said it opens Sat and Sun between 12-5.

Shame we can't join you this pm. We're going to Gymboree.

SJ,
I'll ring you for directions to the Indian shop.

mellow2 · 20/08/2008 08:37

Btw, sfx, I have one green beaded bag left only.

OP posts:
mellow2 · 20/08/2008 08:38

Ros,
That's really nice of your dh. Hope you feel better soon.

OP posts:
sfxmum · 20/08/2008 09:20

god morning all

mellow I do like that one, green/gold isn't it will take it when I see you
re Brita it is not the same as a heavy duty filter but I find it reduces the residue on tea cups, haven't used one in a while

Ros that is fab do get some rest.
was talking to someone the other day about how hard I find dealing with my emotions during pregnancy, I try quite hard to keep them under some control but whenever I get pregnant I always feel like I have no control, it generally scares me - but it is worth it in the end

Susie I go to pools in the park in Richmond
quite good I find

last night dd fell out of bed which after she got over the shock she seemed to find it funny then asked for the bed guard.
I think with all the faffing around she woke up too much and then got tearful and would not let me leave the room, dd took ages to fall asleep
ended up falling asleep on her bed woke up at 3am cold and sore from awkward angle

will take it easy and see how we go today feel really tired

slng · 20/08/2008 11:47

Morning all!

sfx - hope you are recovering! We put DS1 in our bed on Sunday night because he was so wheezy. He objected and wanted his own bed, but eventually fell asleep, which was more than I can say for me. Kept waking up thinking he was going to fall over and land on the throwing-up bucket by the bed ...

mellow - we have only one rice (not counting glutinous rice, and "black" rice from home) but MANY different flours - potato, rice, wholemeal and plain soft and strong wheat, rye, glutinous rice, pasta and corn flour ... It's symptomatic of something, I'm sure, but don't know what.

mellow2 · 20/08/2008 12:06

slng,
You must make a lot of cakes. I don't bake at all.

OP posts:
slng · 20/08/2008 12:18

Mellow - I make lots of bread. I think rice flour bought on spec - was going to try those nyonya kuih, but far too scary. Must try it soon before flour expires. Are you doing anything for mid-autumn festival?

mellow2 · 20/08/2008 12:25

I can make ondeh ondeh and that's about it.

We don't have a tradition of celebrating the mid-autumn festival. What about you?

OP posts:
sfxmum · 20/08/2008 12:26

there was a time when I would make pasta about once a fortnight I have a few types of flour, I do like baking quite a lot

was looking at the Nigella Feast book and feel the urge to host a Hallowen partyfor the kids

traditional food where I come from seems to be a mix of Mediterranean, southern Europe and North African with other odd Northen Europe bits thrown in

there is a lot of fish which I seldom cook because dh does not like it, so I stick to salmon steaks and the such like

rosmerta · 20/08/2008 12:27

I much prefer baking to cooking, really want to try making bread again. First & last time I tried it it really didn't come out too well.

slng · 20/08/2008 12:32

Mellow - we didn't do mid-autumn festival in Malaysia, but I'm starting traditions here for the kids. Last year my parents were here too and brought lanterns and mooncakes. We've missed the "hungry ghost" festival, but will probably do mid-autumn. Interested? Will also try to remember winter solstice this year and do the glutinous rice balls.

sfxmum · 20/08/2008 12:34

Ros use this you can't go wrong
scroll down to easiest loaf in the world

slng · 20/08/2008 12:34

sfx - me and the kids love fish (proper fish, none of the fish fingers business for ds1 ) but dh doesn't except if it's spicy.
