New thread for new month!

OP posts:
AtheneNoctua · 25/04/2008 08:39

Men are like toddlers (or is it dogs?). They will try to get away with anything they think you might let them get away with. You have to train them.

DH is pretty good with housework. The quality is hardly up to snuff, but he certainly does more of it than I do. But, then, I do more childcare. So I guess it balances out.

AtheneNoctua · 25/04/2008 08:41

Oh, I've been meaning to ask, has anyone heard from 2cute? I hope she is okay. It must be so hard for her and her DS.

MrsRecycle · 25/04/2008 08:42

Hello Athene - how are you?

AtheneNoctua · 25/04/2008 08:47

Hiya! I'm fine. Back from the Windy City. Nothing exciting to report really.

Still in love with me new nanny. complete state of Nanny Bliss! On Monday I asked her to sort through the clothes that are too small for both DCs "when she has a chance in the next week or so". Monday night it was all done, and both closets had been completely rearganised / tidied. I am going to cry floods when she leaves in September.

How is the new au pair?

AtheneNoctua · 25/04/2008 08:48

Oh, I have an interview next week with the same company I told you about a few months ago. I guess that my exciting news.

MrsRecycle · 25/04/2008 08:52

Oh brilliant - about time they got back to you - good luck - you'll get it, I know you will.

New AP is wonderful - only 17 but so much more mature than mad one. She even looks after ds along with dds, after school, and I come back to a clean and tidy house with happy fed kids. Its so good when you get the right person isn't it? Shame she has to go back to college to finish her baking course (so excellent cook as well)

AtheneNoctua · 25/04/2008 08:59

It's a different job actually. One I think I am much better suited to... but then I'm biased.

Want to go for sushi sometime soon?

slng · 25/04/2008 09:02

Clean and tidy house? What's that? We currently have a complete railway system with 3 loops, various trains and blocks, various stones and twigs, and a hundred small wooden planks scattered in the tiny living room ...

MrsRecycle · 25/04/2008 09:10

slng and I went to a brilliant place in Ealing - do you fancy it? What was it called slng? Want to join us?

slng - I hid the railway system away from ds so its clean and tidy until he learns to climb onto the wardrobe (won't be long!).

fitfox · 25/04/2008 09:14

Mornin all

SFX nothin to report here, just work, work, work etc etc etc

Ros - was there a holiday voucher in the Sun last Saturday? The first one I got was a bonus voucher in the NOTW on Sunday, then voucher 1 on Monday. Did I miss one on Saturday?

Hi Mrs R [waves]

AtheneNoctua · 25/04/2008 09:45

Hey, maybe we could do sushi for the May meet-up, since I don't think anywhere else has been discussed yet? What do you think?

ComeOVeneer · 25/04/2008 09:53

Morning all. Not much to reprot here. Ds had a paddy this morning as he wasn't due to stay at nursery for lunch. Woke up with a terrible head ache this morning so I just gave in, made him a packed lunch and paid the extra, so am free until 1pm.

ComeOVeneer · 25/04/2008 09:54

Morning Athene, I am up for sushi, however I'm not sure if it is everyones cup of tea. TBH if it is an evening out I am happy wherever it is!

Lausy · 25/04/2008 09:59

Morning ladies - do you think its too early to start getting ready for tonight?!!!

DS is in bed but postman has just announced himself (I'm sure he chucks the letters thru the box from the garden gate!) so he'll probably wake up in 5, 4, 3, 2....1 there you go!

Paddlechick666 · 25/04/2008 10:34

foxie, last saturday was a "starter" token. i've got it but missed out on the double N.O.W ones.

H has got Tues/Weds/Thurs ones so we've got 3 to get.

No idea on where/when as I don't have the pull out from yesterday.

btw, thanks for kind words re: moving. I just really feel it is the only option now. My being sick this week and dd's being sick last week. My job is only going to get more and more busy and I really need to be closer to the GPs for support.

what i actually need is a wife i think!

still feeling absolutely dreadful. have so much to do before sunday and brain won't stop whizzing around.

hope y'all have fun tonight, wish i could come but am major in debt on the childcare situ with the GPs already!

ComeOVeneer · 25/04/2008 10:45

Paddle! Sorry to hear you are still feeling lousy. Will there be any rest/you time on your trip at all?

stealthsquiggle · 25/04/2008 10:50

Ahem - complete hijack, but CoV could you cast your eye over this thread when you have a moment?

Thank you - end of hijack/stalking

slng · 25/04/2008 11:07

MrsR - it was Okawari on Bond st in Ealing. That was nice wasn't it? You could try Momo in north ealing which is also really nice, or Kiraku on Ealing common, or even sushi hiro, which I've never been to but apparently is very very very good but always looks shut.

Lau - don't start getting ready! I'm planning on about 10 minutes' time to get ready between kids going to bed and Dh getting home!

Paddle - don't we all need a wife! But a competent one, not one who drinks gin and watches day time tv only, please. But I can't even find a cleaner who would turn up when she's supposed to, let alone a wife. Where do you get such a thing anyway?

Back to work!

MrsRecycle · 25/04/2008 11:12

thanks slng - good idea Athene - shall we suggest it.

paddle - you definitely need a wife - don't get a husband. Mine is truly winding me up at the mo - another phone call complaining that the new lawn mower that "we" brought keeps on breaking down because the grass is wet. Yes, the grass is wet because its long because you haven't cut the grass since last year. His idea is to leave it to dry out over the weekend. But then, it'll be even longer dumb a*. Arghhhhhh men!

fitfox · 25/04/2008 11:16

Paddle we have duplicates of Mon, Tues, Weds and Thursday's tokens I think, if you need any. Didn't get the one last Saturday but did get NOTW one Sunday, which means we will have a full set tomorrow.

ComeOVeneer · 25/04/2008 11:18

MrsR my lawn is the same. It is almost the only job I get dh to do, and like you ours hasn't been done since last year.

fitfox · 25/04/2008 11:19

Paddle if you get Monday's token from me, then buy the Sun today and tomorrow you will have the full set tomorrow. You need to send off ASAP to get your choices.

We sent off 1 day late last time and got 3rd choice of date and 3rd choice of destination.

I had a priority booking number for the Devon one and still got our 3rd choice!!

MrsRecycle · 25/04/2008 11:24

phew COV - glad I'm not alone in having a lawn-phobic dh. Drives you mad doesn't it?

foxie - you brought the sun twice

sfxmum · 25/04/2008 11:26

dd hijacked my laptop while I was other wise engaged, blasted housework.

hi Paddle I do hope you feel better soon tonsillitis always floors me but thankfully have not had it in years.
I do hope you find a nice place and it all goes well, I am sure dd will be happy where ever you go.

Lau with a baby best start getting ready but just don't get dressed until the last possible moment.

now have done stuff I needed yo do hope to drag dd out for a walk soon

my sister is completing on her flat today, she is very excited.

ComeOVeneer · 25/04/2008 11:54

Oh pants, dd's last remaining gold fish is lying at the bottom of the tank looking very poorly. They is going to be tears this afternoon
