New thread for new month!

OP posts:
sfxmum · 23/04/2008 10:42

same week that is
and by reasonably priced I mean cheap as I probably need to get shoes too

slng · 23/04/2008 11:44

sfx - we hired carpet cleaning machine from what used to be safeway in Ealing Broadway shopping centre. I also see them for hire in some laundrettes. Must be some near you.

No clue re wedding outfit sorry.

ComeOVeneer · 23/04/2008 12:00

SFX what size are you? I have a milion dresses if you would care to borrow something! ALso have a carpet shampooer if you would like to borrow that as well!

sfxmum · 23/04/2008 12:37

thanks all I would be too scared to borrow something far too accident prone.

so far I have 2 options dress wise. must enlist sister to go shopping she actually likes all that trying stuff on and browsing in multiple shops

the difficulty is that I am not the same size top and bottom not helping fitting, was following a thread on style and despairing.

typing with dd on lap sorry

ComeOVeneer · 23/04/2008 12:50

Ok but the offer is there if you need it. I have a lovely antique pink heavily beaded 1920's style dress that I have worn for a few weddings that is lovely.

sfxmum · 23/04/2008 13:12

that sounds really pretty guessing drop waist square neckline? expect really gorgeous with beading
but really not for big boobed, am looking for something V neck probably cross over chest skim semi fitted waist just below knee
all surprisingly hard to find

lots of prom type strapless of thin strap which just makes me look gigantic up top

ComeOVeneer · 23/04/2008 13:14

Not drop waist. I'll take a picture and put in on my profile.

sfxmum · 23/04/2008 13:29

I expect this might do

sfxmum · 23/04/2008 13:30

I know I will end up in a suit or something

ComeOVeneer · 23/04/2008 13:32

Dress on my profile. I also have a black dress similar to the one you just linked to.

sfxmum · 23/04/2008 13:38

oh COV that is seriously beautiful but I expect I would have to stop eating run a lot bit more that I do at the moment to fit in it and then would end up upstaging the bride. very very pretty

rosmerta · 23/04/2008 13:58

hi all, where's the sun gone? Thought we were in for a nice week!

Went to our music class today to find it wasn't on, very annoying. So ended up at a friend's house for a playdate instead, ds had lots of fun with what's probably his bf!

hope everyone's ok

rosmerta · 23/04/2008 14:01

Kew, emailed you btw

Lausy · 23/04/2008 14:04

Got all ready to go to Snakes and Ladders, even ironed my top first! And then realised DH (D stands for dumb now not darling) took the car and the buggy this morning so can't go anywhere except the end of the road for some bread for my yummy (but a little childish) lunch of boiled eggs and soldiers (harrrummph - arms crossed and bottom lip sticking out )

rosmerta · 23/04/2008 14:08

lausy, my sympathies, dh has done that to me before, nothing worse than being forcibly stranded! IMHO though, you're not missing much at Snakes & Ladders!

ComeOVeneer · 23/04/2008 14:16

Dh has done that to me before as well. The most annoying was once when we went to IL's for lunch. DH went with his father to a football match afterwards and was supposed to be catching the train home in the evening. I meanwhile was supposed to leave just after him and drive home with the children. DH mistakenly (so he claims) went to footy with car keys in his pocket, so I was forced to spend the afternoon with his mother and then he got a lift home

Kewcumber · 23/04/2008 15:37

Ros - is that the friend who knew my mum and DS from music class. Mum really liked her.

Have emailed you back thanks.

All hell is breaking loose in work, can't say why but am having to go in Friday afternoon now. Blimey never rains but it pours.

mellow2 · 23/04/2008 15:37

Sfx,
That's a pretty dress. It'll go well with your colouring too. I'm the same. I've been wearing the same dress style for the last 10 years. I think by the time one is 30, one knows exactly what will suit one.

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 23/04/2008 15:37

so there are advantages to not having a DH - buggy always where IO left it and doesn't drive itself away in the car

Kewcumber · 23/04/2008 15:40

yes sfx lovely dress - if they had my size its exactly what I'd wear (in my dreams). Mellow I found once over 35 I ceased to care what I wore - have become quite a bag lady unless scrubbed up for parties! Don't even bother with a bit of lippy for dinner out these days (oh god, I'm a slob aren't I?)

sfxmum · 23/04/2008 16:05

KC are you buying another company? omg you will be in the news again!

have spent the last 10mins trying to email you and am know at the 'difficulty' I found, am a daft old bat.

thanks for feedback on dress, still like COV's I imagine dh will faint when I show him a pink dress he will clutch the child in fear and declare me a pod person (sorry to non sci fi people)

about buggy/ husband shame on him really, best not to have a car at all

am seriously bored now, dh best come home early so I can moan and he can pretend to listen

Lausy · 23/04/2008 16:31

Oh well not so bad in the end - a friend popped over with her 4 month old and can now guilt DH into cooking dinner!

slng · 23/04/2008 16:55

KC - I don't even own any makeup these days. It's very liberating not to worry too much about that sort of things. I'm quite happy if I don't have mud on my trousers and 3-day-old mash potato in my hair and yogurt all over my jumper and rice on my socks.
