ComeOVeneer · 19/04/2008 21:34

Thames Ditton minature railway for sfx.

sfxmum · 19/04/2008 21:43

cov many thanks

gaelsmama hi nice to see you around, glad to hear you are all doing well. have you found a place yet? or is it best not to ask?

Ros won't the men feel inadequate? the poor dears in such a stressful situation and being compared to action man! that alone might induce fainting spells
and btw Ros ds will sooner than you think I bet but I understand the worry.

rosmerta · 19/04/2008 22:00

oh, this is just for my tutor group, not actually to an antental group, nowhere near ready for that yet!

ComeOVeneer · 20/04/2008 10:44

Morning folks. Well stealing myself up for another lunch at the IL's today.

Please, please, please can we organise a night out in May (after all the IL visiting, school holidays and dh's (very) long golfing weekend I NEED a night out. I will start a thread.

SFX when are you planning on a trip to the railway?

sfxmum · 20/04/2008 10:47

ros that should be fun

good morning all I hope you are having a nice weekend.
dh is working again today so I might take dd swimming later
fortunately he did not have to go in early so I could go spend some cooped up energy

that will no happen tomorrow as his big project is going live and dh will probably barely sleep and will be very tense in the morning - I will then have the chance to be 'supportive wife' it is oh so '50's

SJ I can understand your anxieties it is such a big deal and ultimately it is about balancing needs and wants with an informed view of what is going on - one thing is for sure there will be other properties you like later on

cov - oh the artist, sorry we still have some 'drawings' on the wall from when dd first discovered pens. at some point we will repaint

sfxmum · 20/04/2008 10:49

cov it is an idea for the 1st of June, the inlaws are driving down for dd's birthday, staying the weekend and planning to spend Sunday with us, we thought a trip there would be nice

SJ99 · 20/04/2008 18:34

Peace at last - GP's have gone, DH gone out for a beer, and put DS to bed at 6pm as he was shattered. Nice to have guests but they can be such hard work. Will have a breather tonight before next lot arrive tomorrow. At least I have night out to look fwd too

I think we're going to bite the bullet and go ahead with house purchase as it suits our circumstances. Besides, there is no alternative as rental market in HW is incredibly tight. We spent all day there and really enjoyed the location, it's perfect for schools too.

Gmama - good luck with house hunt, St Mags is lovely

Ros - glad trip to M/cr went well.

Sfx/Cov - railway does indeed look fab, I think we'll try and go to it on May BH

Foxie - at Sancerre

bunyanvillas · 20/04/2008 20:13

SJ99, I would go with your gut feeling. It sounds good and if you're buying for the longer term rather than short-term then I'm sure it'll be a good decision. Although what would I know - we've only been in our house since Christmas and are already talking about the next move! Gaelsmama, good luck too with your house - concur with SJ, St Margs is great! SFX, how is it going with the big girl bed? Lausy, hope your weekend improved. I'm not having bad days as such at the moment - just hormonal ups and downs largely connected with feeding! Have just managed to express so am feeling very pleased with myself and having a very teeny tiny thimble of wine to celebrate, but not sancerre unfortunately, just a £3.99 Pino Grigio!

Kewcumber · 20/04/2008 20:30

well you know what I think re the house SJ so I won;t repeat myself. ave you ad a cance to post te Kew pictures yet? Will toddle off to facebook and see. (can you tell my h is not wrking properly )

DS ad developed a dry coug today - dear god NOOOOOOOO!

Other tan tat ad a nice weekend, and I am beginning to feel a bit more "normal". I'm ridiculously excited about going out on Friday - can;t remember te last time I went.

SFX tanks for lunch - sorry about the boy induced havoc particularly te poo incident

sfxmum · 20/04/2008 20:49

evening all

SJ best of luck and all what bunyan said it is always scary anyway - enjoy the peace

bunyan - although the bed is here we have yet to set up her room, we need to clean carpets decorate walls buy bedlinen

hope all the feeding and related emotional upheaval settle soon and he is so cute, they both look lovely together.

gaelsm - sorry for not reading properly St. Mags is lovely with loads of handy parks and kids activities

KC you are both always welcome here.
dd was telling dh yesterday that she loved having her friends here but had been hard to share and she felt sad but promised to try harder next time it was a very big girl heart to heart bless her

we had a really nice time at the pool, weirdly populated almost solely by men and their kids, must be a weekend thing.

sfxmum · 20/04/2008 20:51

sorry

cov yes please to May eve out

looking forward to friday too

Kewcumber · 20/04/2008 22:03

I think they all find it very hard to share their stuff at tis age. DS is sooo much better at sharing in other peoples houses (and not always that good then!)

fitfox · 20/04/2008 22:49

Hi just scoffed a packet of DS2's sponge fingers . Quite a good accompaniment to Pinot Grigio

Gael yes Sancerre is sooo luvverly isn't it?

sfx which pool did you go to? I visited Brentford Fountain centre today and it looks great fun for kids. Not as grown up as Pools ITP, which is good. Also went to Gurnell in Ealing on Friday which is great.

Didn't swim in either BTW but am blaming AF for that

Agree SFX re men at weekends: Snakes and Ladders was chocca with sole men with their kids. I was fantasising that they were all single and if ever I am a lone Mum it would be a good place to "meet" a man

SLNG R U out there in cybersace my dear?

The Sun have a new cheap holiday offer. From £15 per person for 3 or 4 day break in UK or Europe. Start collectng tokens tomorrow or miss the boat (ferry).....we are very excited (a bit like KC)at the prospect of another bargain Sun readers holiday!!!

CoV I am getting very anal about our house and tidiness which is odd as I am naturally very slatternly. I think its displacement in my case. I try to control my home environment 'cos I have no control over the rest of my life and spent my entire existance doing things for other people.

Ankle Biters to be accurate!!

SJ good luck with the house ooh how exciting!!! I love that "I'm buying a whole house" feeling!!!

ComeOVeneer · 20/04/2008 22:54

Anyone suffering from school holiday burn out (or any other excuse) and wants a night out next month? If so sign up here. And PLEASE make it be on a night I can actually make this time .

sfxmum · 21/04/2008 08:32

good morning all

foxie I went to PoolsITP more convenient for me, but Gurnell used to be 'my pool' as I worked in the cottage next door many years ago.

about the men day, one of them was having a hard time with one of his kids insisting he was doing it all wrong and not the way mummy does it plenty of sugary treats followed

KC yes poor things it is a hard thing for them to do but slowly they will get there.

cov will pop over to thread and sign up

dd woke up with a stuffy nose and demanding drugs then she told me she had dreams about brothers and sisters and she decided she would choose to have a sister, this seems to be a recurrent conversation

rosmerta · 21/04/2008 09:12

morning all,

Foxie, we've already started collecting our Sun tokens , shame we have to buy the Sun to do it!

Have added myself to May night out!

Am heading over to Lollipop this morning, probably get there around 10.30 if anyone fancies meeting up

slng · 21/04/2008 09:20

Hello all!

In the office this morning. Isn't it cold?

We go to Gurnell for "swimming. It's better now that the changing room is just a bit cold, not freezing. But the kids pool is great. We go on Sundays and just flounder a bit and then go for a fry-up.

sfx - I do sometimes pity some weekend-dads who have to somehow read the kids' mind (which is not the easiest thing at the best of time) and do things "how mummy does it". Especially if mummy simply makes it up as she goes along!

DS2 has been shorn and looks completely bald now. His latest trick seems to be to try to summon echoes - if he sees any cavernous space (including the library) he would shout "ah" loudly to see if there's an echo...

Don't get me started on "sharing"... Nursery sends them back spouting slogan "you need to share" which means "you need to give me that toy you are playing with right now". Surely one does not need to share one's treasured possession. Oh no no ranting this early in the mroning.... Will continue ranting later after pesky work is out of the way.

Lausy · 21/04/2008 09:52

Hi All

Weekend was much improved by Sunday and thanks for the replies, but I managed to slice the top of my thumb off whilst making a comforting fish pie last night. Now I can barely pick DS up and changing his nappy is quite fun! Nevermind it'll be better in a week.

QC - Lol at your H not working properly, made a very interesting read! (not that it wasn't interesting in the first place of course )

I'm going to try the Redless 1o'clock club if I can feed DS in time although it does look very windy and cold out there today, where is our lovely spring time??

rosmerta · 21/04/2008 09:59

ok, have to scrap Lollipop plan, ds not in the best mood (no nap yesterday) so don't think its a good idea to take him when he's having meltdowns over getting dressed etc!

sfxmum · 21/04/2008 10:07

hi Lau sorry about your finger, glad things seem better.

ros dd is curled on my lap saying it is too windy out but I hope to pop out even if just to the shops

slng see you are enjoying work today

must think of comforting dinner as dh is having a stressful day

the forecast says about 20C by Friday

SushiMummy · 21/04/2008 10:13

Morning all!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

QC - thanks for the text messages. Am v impressed with Gherkin-kun's texting skills.

Looking forward to the meet-up on Friday!

SushiMummy · 21/04/2008 10:18

oops, sorry x-posted.

Lausy - oh no, sounds really painful. Hope the pain goes v quickly.

Lausy · 21/04/2008 10:29

Its fine really, just when I touch it, was funny because DH came running in and shouted at me for being silly and told me to sit on sofa whilst he tended to my wounds, felt like a very silly girl but I got lots of attention afterwards from DH guilty for shouting!!

SFX - don't do a fish pie for comfort, as you might hurt yourself as well!

Really looking forward to my first girls night out on Friday! Promise to keep my ugly thumb covered!

ComeOVeneer · 21/04/2008 10:36

Morning all. Normality has resumed in COV household. DS and dd safely tucked away at school and nursery and peace at last . Trying to motivate myself to do chores but just relishing a cup of tea and a bit of ME time (yay)!
