New thread for new month!

OP posts:
sfxmum · 13/04/2008 21:48

good evening all

bunyan hope all goes well tomorrow, after your last post I had a look at dd's log book and apparently it took over 2 weeks for her to recover the birth weight, this included the first 4days in hospital when she barely had any milk and was quite yellow poor thing.
BF was not really properly established for well over a month. funny how you forget about such things

lau - glad you had a good time at your parents. I did not have routines but we shambled along ok, dd is nearly 3 sleeps well but can't say the same for food, oh well she is strong and healthy.

slng belated happy birthday to your boy.

mellow many thanks

gaelsmama - thanks like you say I just like to sit there for a couple of hrs and be looked after without having to talk much.
hope your warmer clothes have arrived the weather does not look any better

hope everyone else ok, we had a quiet weekend dd has a bit of a cough but she spent the day baking bread with dh and helping cook dinner.

did anyone see the 101yr old who run the Marathon? I would not mind being alive and sane let alone running marathons
although the 2 might not be compatible

puts me to shame as I dragged myself out for my modest 3miles must aim for the 10k by the end of the summer

Lausy · 13/04/2008 22:37

Hey Bunyan, no problem whatsoever, am happy to fit around you, don't worry if you don't think you'll make it we can always do another time

How should I give you my mobile number - is it safe to just post it up here?

Lausy · 13/04/2008 22:37

PS - sfxmum I am more than impressed with your 3 miles, I can barely run 3 metres...

stepfordwife · 13/04/2008 23:55

right, trying to catch up with some work due to not getting much done last week due to dh being away/school hols/dd teething/chasing AWOL surveyors/using all the aforementioned as a smokescreen for my own ineptitude ..

soooooooooooo

why oh why have i spent the last hour trying to calculate my body fat and reading about the american idol finalists...which i'm not even watching on tv, btw...

bunyan..hope it goes ok tomorrow

sfx..your posts always make me feel hungry as there's always mention of a scrummy baking activity..

kew and sushi..lovely to see you at kew gdns on sat...we got drenched on the way home, but fun!

dh back home, but he's got man-flu. bummer as it's somewhat overshadowed my attempts to indulge in some extreme whinging myself

i give up..i'm going to bed
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 14/04/2008 00:11

..i can barely run a bath..

SushiMummy · 14/04/2008 07:41

Morning all.

steppie and QC - lovely too see you on Sat. DS loved the animals so we went back again on Sun and got drenched. Gherkin-kun is so much bigger, can't believe how quickly LOs grow. Steppie - your DD is v cute and your DSs are such lovely boys. A bit as my DS will be an only child.

bunyan - good luck with the MW today.

mellow2 · 14/04/2008 08:10

Bunyan,
Good luck with the midwive.

OP posts:
sfxmum · 14/04/2008 08:58

good morning all

steppie aren't dh's diets great
that is one of the reasons I need to up my mileage

hope everyone is ok today

Kewcumber · 14/04/2008 09:07

hello all - nice to see everyone at the weekend. Steppie, Sushi and Paddle and respective DC's. DS really enjoyed the animals too and I plan to take him back next Sat morning if anyone wants a rerun.

First day back in work and I'm already exhausted!

Kewcumber · 14/04/2008 09:10

bunyan - am as much use as a chocolate teapot when it comes to bf and birth weight etc but is it really so regimented that they must gain X amount of weight within Y days or else you are failing somehow? Surely if they are healthy then the weight gain will follow in good time?

Yours cluelessly,

KC

stepfordwife · 14/04/2008 09:51

morning, everyone...

sushi, aw thanks. dss are quite handy now for toddler-chasing! your ds is gorgeous and he's got so tall, too. there are some "pros" of being/having an only child, but feel for you feeling about it. but it's fab him having cousins he adores, isn't it?

sfx...hmm, yep that's my kind of diet!

kew..take it easy. i think after you've been ill, just the commuting alone takes it out of you. i think you should leave early today..tell your work i said so

well dh's man-flu has been diagnosed as, guess what, a viral infection. with my usual tender bedside manner have informed him it's really inconvenient for him to be ill this week as its turn to look after the kids while i get some work done....jeez...

anyhow my sis and brood coming up today, so will take pity on him, and all go out for the day.

have a good one everyone
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 14/04/2008 09:52

kew, if only most HVs had as much common sense as you...

Kewcumber · 14/04/2008 12:21

Sj - have emailed you egg free nut free choc cake recipe which I've been hanging onto for some time. Let me know what its like if you try it as I haven't.

Paddle - delicious banana bread

sfxmum · 14/04/2008 12:36

managed to get dd to playground and back with many muddy puddles on the way

KC are you off friday? would you like to bring ds over for play and lunch?
dd was asking after him but will probably find it hard to share Thomas
Mellow & dd too?
anyone?

what to take dd swimming tomorrow, the weather seems ok for wednesday so would do Kew, and thu have the dreaded embassy to deal with

but all good plans yadda yadda...

Kewcumber · 14/04/2008 12:59

Friday lunch would be good - have a hosptial appointment to finally get my insoles at 9am but should be home mid-morning.

Went to hospital (with chest infection and having dumped DS with Ma) last Friday to disciver they had lost them . Cost me bloody £1.60 in teh car park to waste an hopur that I could have spent having a peaceful coffee somewhere.

Lausy · 14/04/2008 13:20

Just got hailed on at Redlees Park and had to run into the Library as I am little miss unprepared!! DS happily watched me get drenched whilst nice and snug in his cosytoes!

Have tackled half the ironing this morning which is a bit of an accomplishment for me..!

Not sure what else to do now...although have been informed by DH that I will be having the car tomorrow! OOohh the freedom, I won't know what to do with it !

Question: My DS screams his head off every time he finishes a yoghurt or fruit because I assume he wants more, I don't really want to give him too much sweet stuff, has anyone got any tips to stop the sugar tantrums?!

sfxmum · 14/04/2008 13:33

KC hospitals are very helpful aren't they? when dd was born they misplaced her blood tests, quite important at the time which could mean go home or stay to treat infection, in my hormonal state I shouted at them until they found them, somehow, before that, no one could be bothered making a few phone calls and finding them.

lau - still sunny here but can see dark clouds, end of kew weather bulletin.
as for sugar dd is not a good eater so whatever I can get down her throat is a result, but I do try to make it as nutritious as possible
normally only plain yoghurt, fruity only after meals, but mostly I just mash or chop fruit into plain.
to be honest if she whinges I ignore and distract that usually works.

sfxmum · 14/04/2008 13:41

can I ask you all to have a look at night out please

many thanks

mellow2 · 14/04/2008 13:43

sfx,
Friday would be fine. We'll probably be there around the same time, about 11 am.

OP posts:
sfxmum · 14/04/2008 13:47

great Mellow&KC will baked goods be required?
you might have to listen to me complaining about the embassy visit, or you might ignore me which works just as well

slng · 14/04/2008 13:56

Hello!

Hospitals are great aren't they? I remember being asked why I was crying when ds1 was sent to hospital THREE DAYS OLD. Does anyone really need an explanation for that!? I also remember screaming at people for not telling me things. It worked too because after that everything was explained to me in detail. Not to advocate shouting, but a bit of judicious hysteria reminds people that you exist, sometimes. If they don't give you a padded cell ...

Lau - IRONING!!?? Don't believe in it myself. Anyway. BBC says weather nice tomorrow - so Bushy Park? Richmond Park? Kew Gardens? The world is your oyster! As for sugar tantrum - I second sfx on ignore/distract. Have his favourite toy ready to hand and enthusiastic "oooooh look what we have here"

slng · 14/04/2008 13:57

sfx - perhaps toddler-style distraction works on you too?

rosmerta · 14/04/2008 14:17

Hi all, had a nice weekend at the hotel & ds really enjoyed himself with my mum & dad!

How's everyone? Had a quick scan & doesn't seem like anything major has happened!

Mellow, I was wondering if you have any body cream you can recommend, particularly for stretch marks

sfxmum · 14/04/2008 14:23

Hi Ros are you coming out to play? see link

about stretch marks I don't have any and put it down to moisturising twice dally from early on with, mostly with Clarins oil but also Palmers and Bio Oil bit of variety

can you tell I am studying? dd watching CBeebies dvd and playing with playdough

slng it hasn't so far

mellow2 · 14/04/2008 14:31

Hi Ros,
Did you get my email that I sent you yesterday about your home address? The butter creme salve that you bought for your eczema also works for stretch marks too.

You can use some of that and see if it works for you.
