New thread for new month!

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 08/04/2008 22:41

the house I'm currently in went to sealed bids and I bid £500 over asking price. Was a good buyer as I had no chain. 5 minutes later I was kicking myself and rang the estate agent to up the offer by £5,000 cos I really wanted the house. I got as far as "I intend to have this house and I'm concerned I haven't bid enough"... estate agent said "Let me stop you there Ms JOnes, the house is yours".

Lovely estate agent. (Never thougth I'd hear myself say that)

SushiMummy · 09/04/2008 08:19

QC - hope you are feeling better.

foxie - glad the op went OK.

Lau/SJ - my DS cut his first tooth just before turning 3 mo, too. He now has a full set of teeth. Good luck with the second offer, SJ.

sfx - congrats on your essay mark. You must be pleased.

2under2 - welcome!

Have a lovely day all.

sfxmum · 09/04/2008 08:29

good morning all

KC hope you are feeling better now, the house story despite the happy ending, seems oh so stressful

sushi any more biting or is it all a bit more settled now?

loving the bright shiny morning, will start project 'get toddler out in asap' just as soon as I have breakfast

SushiMummy · 09/04/2008 08:57

sfx - yes, it was a phase like you all said. Where are the animals kept in KG? Might try this weekend with DS.

Glorious day, isn't it?

sfxmum · 09/04/2008 09:03

sushi glad to hear everyone always says it is a phase but parental relief only comes when it ends
the animals are by Brentford Gate, I keep hoping one day they will put it somewhere else away from C&C but no chance. at least dd is saying she wants to go to QueenC's cottage that suits me then we walk down to BGate and head home by the river

mellow2 · 09/04/2008 09:32

Welcome 2under2.

Sfx, congrats on the essay.

Ros, no offers yet, just viewings. I'm getting tired of tidying up the flat for viewings. If this goes on for much longer, I might stop tidying up and people might get to see what a pig sty we actually live in!

OP posts:
mellow2 · 09/04/2008 09:33

DD would love to see animals. We must go thru Brentford Gate next time we go to Kew Garden.

OP posts:
SushiMummy · 09/04/2008 09:42

sfx - so true about parental relief.

Weather forecast doens't look too promsing for the weekend. Ah well...

sfxmum · 09/04/2008 10:12

we are off to kew in a minute anyone going wants to meet up text us

stepfordwife · 09/04/2008 10:38

morning all
hope you're all well
lovely day

welcome, 2under2

i remember having two under two - mad but fun, eh? they're now "bif boys" 8 and nearly 7. also have dd, 3.

foxie..glad tooth op went ok. remember being really nervous when i had to have some root canal work done as people go on about how awful it is. but it was as OK..well as Ok as it can be sitting with your mouth clamped wide open and a man with a bad hair-dye job doing his thing

sorry couldn't have a cuppa this morning - and guess what - the bloody surveyor chappie hasn't been in touch yet. arragghhhhhhhh.

kew, hope you're feeling better. saw ds briefly yesterday and he gave me a lovely hug - round my leg!

sfx..well done on your essay. would love to come baking on thursday (by that i mean eat the results of your baking, of course, but meeting up with a friend and, of course, have my lumbering big boys with me as school hols..)

meant to be working, but dd at chidminder so going to play hookey and take little fellas out.

enjoy the sunshine everyone
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 09/04/2008 10:39

big boys, even...do give each other the odd bif, tho..

fitfox · 09/04/2008 12:02

Steppy - on your behalf re surveyor - he sounds a teensy bit unreliable to me have you given him the job yet?

KC - good strategy re house - which agent was it? I got some great bidding advice from the man with the lovely Irish voice at Gasgoine Pees (remember his voice but not his name). Trouble with sealed bids is you could lose the house by £50, or overbid completely and pay way too much!!! Are you still of sick - you poor thing [cyber hugs]?

SJ - well done sticking to your guns re. price - its so easy to get carried away isn't it? I have fallen in love with sooo many houses over the years LOL!! Strangley 3 out of the 4 homes we have had since we got married were built in 1925 - so I must be attracted to that era!! Chunky and solid!!

Twounder2 - how old are your DCs? You have no doubt already said and I have forgotten already

SFX thanks re vouchers - will be nice to see you at night out

Tooth is a bit sore today as dentist was rummaging a lot yesterday - he had to widen one root canal so he could clean it properly. TBH I have fallen asleep during both appointments . He woke me up the first time but yesterday just let me snooze. The appointments are 2 hours long, so I can't wait for next one, to catch up and have a power nap

Embarassingly, lodger has written a really grovelling card apologising and asking for forgivenness !!! Its really not neccessary - but will get her a treat later/give her a hug to ensure she feels OK about it all again. I thought she was sulking but perhaps she's feeling sheepish. Cov you are so right she is so much better than the last eejit lodger! I don't think she realised how much the sound carries at night and she is also under a lot of pressure in her own life, so I will be gentle with her when I see her later

All friends again!!

fitfox · 09/04/2008 12:04

Steppy - enjoy your quality time with the boys. Its such a treat to just have 2 kids for a few hours, rather than three, isn't it?

fitfox · 09/04/2008 13:52

Steppy - I want to ask your interior design advice when I see you next week

rosmerta · 09/04/2008 13:55

hi all, sorry I didn't get in touch re Kew today, laptop crashed last night so couldn't get back on MN, then I set off today, got on the bus & realised I'd forgotten my phone, I think pg brain is already setting in

Hi 2under2!

Well done on the essay sfx, I'm still waiting for my mark from the first one. Presentation is in a couple of weeks but its still too long & I need to do handouts/activities as well!

slng · 09/04/2008 14:14

I think we will be off to Bushy Park as soon as LOs wake (or are woken) up. What a nice day!

foxie - Chinese people (except me) very polite!

sfxmum · 09/04/2008 15:35

hello all lovely
day at Kew today and a pleasure to meet gaelsmama and familly, although she foolishly let me hold the baby

dd was in full on 'I am making a new friend so stay away mummy you are cramping my style'

Ros nevermind sorry to miss you but we will see you soon no doubt.
do try not to stress about presentation sounds kinda fun too, is it like last time?

steppie will do that some time.

foxie no problem be nice to see you too.

now where did I put that vacuum cleaner....must think back to when we last had visitors

mellow2 · 09/04/2008 15:37

Lovely day. I thought it was going to be nice this weekend. Oh well.

It'll be lovely to see you tomorrow, SJ. I think your decision re: house is the right one. It'll be exciting to find out what happens tomorrow.

OP posts:
stepfordwife · 09/04/2008 16:34

hi all
ooohhhh, yes, foxie, i remmeber the lovely irish man from gascoigne p, too.

have alreday given job to the chappie - he's already put planning application in for us and waiting on the building drwaings. all very efficient at first and has had man-flu, but stilll...

no word from him yet, so gearing myself up to phone him and use my best headmistress voice. trouble is he's due to go off to sri lanka tomorrow
my nxt-door neighbour getting really stressed and i seem to have become piggy in the middle..
why-oh-why does everything kick off as soon as dh is out of the country?

yes, had a lovely time - you're right - downright luxury..especially not running after dd all the time.
despite lovely weather went to the flicks
saw spiderwick chronicles - quite scary!

will be delighted to give you my interior design advice...not that i know diddly squat about it really

SJ..any word on the house? we went to sealked bids too for this house. before we bought it, another offer had fallen through a few months before. when they sent us contract through, they accidentally sent us the 'old' one - and the price had gone up £10K in that two months! so bet they're glad the first one fell through..

but we didn't beat ourselves up abouit it..we still paid under the asking price and were happy with the house - or you'd drive yourself mad!

right..deep breaths for headmistress voice..
toodlepip

fitfox · 09/04/2008 16:35

SFX LOL at you hoovering when visitors come. I used to invite people round 'cos it was the only way to motivate myself to tidy!!

Oh what a fabby day - washing is swinging happily in the sun and light breeze in the garden

fitfox · 09/04/2008 16:37

Good luck with your ever-so-delicate surveyor

mellow2 · 09/04/2008 17:00

Tbh, the flat is so much tidier now that we are having viewings. . I almost don't mind not selling as the flat is so much more pleasant now that I've freecycled excess furniture and baby items.

OP posts:
mellow2 · 09/04/2008 17:04

sfx,
Do you know which bag you would like me to bring yet?

OP posts:
sfxmum · 09/04/2008 17:23
