New thread as the other one is not going to last long.

OP posts:

I think Richmond fund a place from the January after they turn 3, don't know what happens if they are born in Jan!

Kewcumber · 15/01/2008 16:18

sfx - I think as the crow flies we are a similar distance and may well be competing for the same year entry (?) - we could fall out big time!

All this talk of preschool is making my head hurt! The one I have put DS name down for said that they do Sept 08 intake but as DS not 3 til Nov 08, he would then start in Jan 09 intake.

The other 2 preschools I visited said they would take them before he is 3 but fee would not be Govt assisted until he turns 3. They said I can put name down now if I wish to, haven't made up my mind yet.

Ros it might be worth calling preschool again to confirm when DS could start.
And shame on you for not concentrating on the exercises

Amanda78 · 15/01/2008 20:40

Hi All,

Presentation went well today thanks although the one on Friday should be more challenging!
Roll on the weekend!

SJ99 - Have changed settings to now accept CAT messages - is that what you meant?

fitfox · 15/01/2008 21:18

OMG this reminds me so much of all the stress we went through trying to get DS1 into his school. I lost lots of sleep I can tell you. I rang the school so many times to check they'd got all the papers etc.

They can't tell you the precise boundary as it will move each year, depending on how many people apply from each street. What QC says is a good indicator, although 0.5 of a mile is very small. For most Richmond primary schools its about 1 mile (although a large number are clustered in one area I guess), although I know for Sheen Mount it is literally the surrounding roads, as its the best state school in Sheen. In Richmond we are truly blessed with primaries, and cursed with lack of secondaries.

QC looks like you may be getting some lodgers after all (couch surfing?)

I haven't been on here for hours and hours (in a very important and grown up work meeting) and I bet you didn't even notice, did you, yer cheeky feckers ?!!

My lodger has sent her passport as ID. I'm feeling very reassured about her now as she is so professional and ordered in her approach. She's a Christian too, so she won't think we're odd

Amanda - glad your presentation went well - did you stay up late preparing it then?

Ros - you Dirty Mare !!!

rosmerta · 15/01/2008 21:22

They only do one intake so it would be the Sept after his 3rd birthday! Btw, I was told that if they turn 3 and can't start in a nursery school until later then you can get funding for private nursery, worth looking into it.

rosmerta · 15/01/2008 21:26

I'd just like to point out that if you saw this dvd you'd realise its completely unavoidable

SJ99 · 15/01/2008 21:48

Ros - That's your excuse and you're sticking to it no doubt?

Foxie - glad things are going well with your new lodger

QC - Farm trip looks good, when are you thinking of going?

Amanda - yes that should do the trick, good luck for Fri

Sushi - is your holiday all set now? How exciting! Don't think about the flight until you absolutely have to

I'm trying not to think about going on hols just yet in case it doesn't happen - DH has to book the dates off work first, one step at a time....

SJ99 · 15/01/2008 21:51

BTW I saw an ad for Torchwood on tv tonight which looked quite interesting, can someone tell me what's it about? I remember you were going on about it earlier in thread but I had never heard of it. Will it matter that I haven't watched 1st series?

sfxmum · 15/01/2008 21:58

SJ have a look at the bbc website they will have a microsite for the show, but no you don't need to know much, it is all glorious nonsense which I am told improved greatly this season, just as well really.
oh and it is set in Wales

hi foxie grown up stuff did you say?

sfxmum · 16/01/2008 10:15

good morning all

are you all out enjoying this glorious sunshine? well I managed to go out for a jog at last

hope you are all well

ComeOVeneer · 16/01/2008 10:54

Mornig all. Yes indeed we have been out enjoying the sunshine. I took ds out for the first ride on my new bike, he loved the seat . He has his first afternoon session at nursery today, I just hope he isn't too tired as he still often has a sleep in the afternoon and he decided to start today at 5.30am

SJ99 · 16/01/2008 14:01

Hello all

Well done SFX going for a jog Thanks for tip, will look on web and decide whther to watch or not

We had the mum's and toddlers over from local playgroup this morning. I refer to them as the demolition squad Actually house was not too messy after they left. About to go out for walk in lovely sunshine

slng · 16/01/2008 14:02

About to have a nap now so as to NOT fall asleep tonight at the movies!

MrsRecycle · 16/01/2008 14:22

Hola Senoritas!! Yes just back from a weekend in Barcelona - what a lovely Birthday surprise from dh. We had a lovely time and the weather was ok. I'm so busy at work, I don't have time to catch up on gossip - can anyone summarise? COV - how is your dh?

I'm going to start a thread for the Toy Museum on the Thursday of Half-term - is everyone okay with this date? Or I could do the Friday?

MrsRecycle · 16/01/2008 14:24

Oh foxie - just seen you might have a Christian lodger

MrsRecycle · 16/01/2008 14:40

Right have taken the Bull by the horn and created a thread for the Toy Museum - they have a Space Exhibition on at the moment - looks exciting. Sign up now...

Kewcumber · 16/01/2008 14:52

ds... toy museum... shudder.

Have you seen him in ELC?!

i'll set up a thread on Deen city farm

Kewcumber · 16/01/2008 15:07

MrsRecycle · 16/01/2008 15:20

But Kewie they can play with all the toys - thats the best bit - anything of any value is placed in a glass unit (unbreakable by any toddler). I wouldn't be taking ds unless this was a prequisite (I live in Beirut at the moment due to his demolition tendancies!).

sfxmum · 16/01/2008 16:12

slng - like your strategy

mrsR - Barcelona break sounds heavently, have not been in ages, maximum bonus points to your dh

providing we get a lift we would be up for farm, maybe not toy museum as it is half term will see

had lovely time walking by the river to Kew all very muddy but we had a great time.

dh not home till very late today so want toddler well and truly tired as early as possible

SJ thanks for the encouragement let's see how the rest of the week goes.

also I need your help / opinion on a health matter please

  • I have had a blister type thing, more like a spot in a nipple, the doctor says not to worry, I have no other 'symptoms' and it was not hurting at the time but now it get's sore
so what do you think is the doctor right? or should I push to have it checked out? TIA
fitfox · 16/01/2008 16:42

SFX well done for jogging - great weather for it!

MrsR - weekend sounds brillaint! Did you like Barcelona? One of my bestest friends moved their recently - is it near the sea side?

Was someone on here asking for a cleaner? My cleaner will be free on Mondays from late Feb/March - she's pretty flexible about location

fitfox · 16/01/2008 16:46

Anyone fancy a free swim at Cedars between now and Tuesday? I have been given a 5 day complimentary pass for me, friends and famille.

I can go any evening (except Tuesday) plus Sunday (although may go with DH and DCs on Sunday)

So that leaves any evening then - anyone fancy a dip up there avec moi?

Kewcumber · 16/01/2008 16:56

I go every Sunday morning at around 10.30am Foxie if you want to meet and I go to the acqua class at 6.45 on Friday evening (no swimming ability necessary).
