New thread as the other one is not going to last long.

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 14/01/2008 21:38

foxie, that'll be just fine as long as she can magic up a cute father of the prince for me!

CoV, let me know what you think!

sfxmum · 14/01/2008 21:45

have a pic on my profile photos of dd with wand wings and tiara....

SJ99 · 14/01/2008 21:52

Aww, very cute

I have to confess, I have a picture of DS in fairy wings, DH's god-daughter (7) and sister (3) dressed him up when we went to visit them in the summer. But they at least were white wings not pink

sfxmum · 14/01/2008 22:47

that is the fate of younger brothers I feel
dd made dh wear her spare pair of wings too and I have pictures

ComeOVeneer · 14/01/2008 22:56

LOL, most def. the fate of younger brothers. DS frequently is seen prnacin around as a fairy or princess. Poor child will be teased big time with photographic evidence when he is older

Kewcumber · 15/01/2008 09:17

and the fate of a yopunger sister (of an older sister) is to be a bride groom... [bitter experience emoticon]

rosmerta · 15/01/2008 10:31

Aww very cute sfx!

Lol at ds's being dressed up! Guess ds may just miss out on that depending...

Miserable day again, makes it really hard to do anything!

ComeOVeneer · 15/01/2008 10:43

Morning all. What absolutely foul weather. I was planning on taking my new bike out for a trip to local greengrocer, butcher and baker (no candlestick maker around here ) but I think I will be resorting to the car.

Slept really badly last night due to the weather. The problem with having a loft bedroom. DS didn't fall asleep until after 9.30pm last night. At least he now stays in his bedroom thanks to the stairgate. I found him asleep with his head holding the door open (we have fire safety doors so they all automatically close) and his foot wedged through the bars of the stairgate, teddy over his face and snoring loudly

sfxmum · 15/01/2008 11:00

good morning all

cov - despite the snoring it is a cute picture
dh cycles to work everyday and today he left clad in his waterproofs or his sauna suit as he calls it

ros how is the job hunting going?

yes awful weather, dd woke up 3X once from an actual nightmare and then because 'I just realised I wanted a kiss and a cuddle'

she has been talking about nursery and getting her own room quite a lot, maybe she is just processing change. we seem to have broken the cardinal rule of not leaving too long between announcement and actual event.

ComeOVeneer · 15/01/2008 11:04

Ah yes, the young child's concept of time is a bit tricky isn't it. Blimey I just can't motivate myself to do anything today, not that I have much that needs to be done. I blame the weather it depresses me and makes me lethargic.

Kewcumber · 15/01/2008 11:19

haven't seen sushi around for a while...

ComeOVeneer · 15/01/2008 11:25

It wasn't so cute when for a moment I couldn't get his leg out of the gate and had visions of me having to get dressed, unscrew gate from wall, wake up dd and drag us to to Kingstn a+e with gate around ds's ankle

rosmerta · 15/01/2008 11:34

lol cov!

Sfx, job hunting not great atm. Not much out there (though I am probably limiting myself a lot!) & the one call back I had which looked promising ended up hiring someone else before we could have a chat! Oh well, at least we're not desperate so can wait!

Am picking up an application form today for ds's nursery school, seems a bit early considering he won't be going until Sept 2009 but I know they will be oversubscribed so have to get it in!

sfxmum · 15/01/2008 11:53

I think with dd's nursery start being so close I am starting to feel antsy, we never intended to have such a big age gap. I really want to try again for a number of reasons but there is a part of me really wanting to move on to the next stage. occasionally I have panics over time running out, not helped by the impending birthday

Anyway I think cov is right this weather does things to my head

SushiMummy · 15/01/2008 12:50

Hello all.

Have been v unwell with bad cold/flu. DS cought it first from nursery, then gave it to me and now DH.

Foxie - congrats on the new lodger. Are they from the mainland? My DH speaks Mandarin if you need any translation.

Hope everyone is well.

ComeOVeneer · 15/01/2008 13:08

Sorry to hear you have been poorly sushi. There is a lot of it going around the past few weeks. All of us in the COV household have been sick on and off since christmas with colds/sore throats/D+V bugs. I am getting ready to do a detox and boost immune system diet/health kick as I feel so fatigued and sluggish atm.

SJ99 · 15/01/2008 13:18

Hello all

Sorry to hear that you've been poorly Sushi, I hope that you are on the mend now.

Bad luck about the job Ros, fingers crossed for you.

Sfx - when will DD start nursery?

We braved the rains to go to song group but it was ridiculously packed, still, DS really enjoyed it.

He woke up again last night, screaming like Banshee. I came in and he passed some wind and fell back to sleep. This might explain why he's been so restless & waking up the past few nights. Not sure what's causing the wind though as no real change to diet and he seems fine during the day, strange.

rosmerta · 15/01/2008 13:34

I thought it was far too early to apply for the nursery! Went in to get the application form and they said I didn't need to apply until next year when ds is 3! But it was somebody at the school who told me to apply when he was 2

Sushi, hope you're all feeling better.

Sj, ds went through a phase of being very restless when we put him down for a couple of hours. I started to massage his tummy after his bath, just very gently in a clockwise circle. He would usually then pass wind & settled much quicker. Just thought it might help with your ds?

SJ99 · 15/01/2008 13:41

Hi Ros, yes will defo do tummy massage on him tonight, thanks for remindig me. He used to get quite bit of wind when younger (less than 6mths old) so the massage really helped then, hoep it will do the trick. I wish I knew what was causing it though so I can try and prevent it from happening if poss.

Amanda - Just tried contacting you but message sending failed, I think you have to change your settings to accept messages from other mums. Thanks for offer of lift, v. kind of you! Hope presentation went well

SJ99 · 15/01/2008 13:43

Ros, it's a bit weird with nursery applications as a lot of mums I spoke to said you must put the child's name down at 2 but when I spoke to nursery they would often say the opposite and that you didn't need to apply so early! I guess each place has it's own wait list & guidelines

ComeOVeneer · 15/01/2008 13:46

Isn't he going to be starting nursery when he turns 3 ros?

sfxmum · 15/01/2008 13:51

regarding the nursery, ours is over subscribed and there are no full time places available, we are registering dd now to start later in the summer a couple of half days per week to start with.

Amanda yes hope presentation went well you must be exhausted

ros&SJ dd gets wind too like ros says massage helps

sfxmum · 15/01/2008 13:53

and hope you all feel better soon Sushi

this is partly why I have been avoiding large indoor play area/ classes so many bugs about

Kewcumber · 15/01/2008 13:58

which one sfx - mostly they allocated places a couple of times a year eg are currently taking applications for Barn nursery for Sept. Don't think you'd have much luck applying just as term was about to begin.

Kewcumber · 15/01/2008 13:59

also very few nurseries appear to take 2 day a week places. Lowest I can find is 3 days. Most full time 5 sessions a week.
