New thread as the other one is not going to last long.

OP posts:
fitfox · 09/01/2008 17:48

Hiya

Well Cnadian lecturer has been and gone. He was excellent (clean, polite, "grown-up", interesting, respectful and sensitive - in fact hardly like a bloke at all!!!) I fear I may have seemed a bit over enthusiatic LOL!!!

Slng - he teaches international law at LSE.

Have student girl coming later and the two women coming on Saturday and anyone else who seems suitable in between

while he was here I had to bribe DCs to keep quiet with crisps. He said "your children are very well behaved"

CoV - your DH will be fine, they are just taking precautions methinks, try not to worry too much - you have a lot on your plate at the moment.

fitfox · 09/01/2008 17:49

Sushi thanks very much for that link - have posted for Sophia

ComeOVeneer · 09/01/2008 18:00

Thanks for all the good wishes. I'm sure dh will be fine and the results will come back as ok (I have been researching online - not always a good idea - and I think (in the ansence of anything showing in the results) it may be the case that dh is slightly overweight and has a "fatty" liver which apparently can cause elevations). Trouble is I am a real worrier and keep imagining the worst case scenario. I keep thinking he is going to announce he has terminal cancer (stupid I know but I can't shake the thought out ot my head [sad).

Good luck with the search for a suitable lodger foxy. And ROs fingers crossed on the job search too.

DS has been fine all day (health wise) but is now tired and grumpy, I just hope dd isn't going to fall ill tonight as well as I need some sleep.

Paddlechick666 · 09/01/2008 18:04

hope you have a quiet night CoV, these D&V things fill me with fear! i might even become an emetphobe thingy........

ComeOVeneer · 09/01/2008 18:45

I was prepared for ds being sick last night as his best friend was off nursery yesterday with it so I was prettty sure it was coming and had towels and bowl in ds's room in preparation, so at least we didn't have to change sheets etc during the night (fortunately he woke with a stomach ache and cried so I got to him before he was sick)

fitfox · 09/01/2008 19:20

Try not to worry CoV, the vast majority of biopsies come back clear [hugs]

Sushi - Sophia's DH has been and viewed the room already!!!

Paddlechick666 · 09/01/2008 19:21

yeah it does take some of the stress out of it if you've got advance warning!

what's he like then Foxie? i remember pointing you at that one back in october!

DM is here and I am grumpy!

fitfox · 09/01/2008 19:27

He's a nice bloke Paddle, has lovely kids roughly same age as DS1 and DD and I saw a pic of Sophia (gorgeous). He's going to chat with Sophia and I am going to show the room to someone else in 5 mins, so he/we will come to a decision in next couple of days. I have the two women booked to come Saturday too and the Canadian to get back to me with his decision.

I'm sure that out of all these people, we'll get someone nice . Thanks for the links

stepfordwife · 09/01/2008 19:31

hi chaps

COV...still sending you positive vibes. know what you mean about the internet scaring the jeepers out of you. i'm always straight on there doing my own research for stuff and coming up with my own diagnosis. hope you get some sleep tonight.

foxie...potential lodger sounds lovely. one of my women rang me back and only mutually convenient time tomorrow we coluld talk was 6.15pm while she's driving home and i'll be at the pool (not) watching the little fellas doing their swimming lesson.the joy of multi-tasking, eh?

didn't even know there was such a thing as sauce flour . so..

kew, you're on for that cookery lesson! just part of my continuing quest to (re)learn how to cook. dh did teach me white suace at some point, but still never got it right. want to do both - white and cheese - don't you just shove some chhese into white sauce for that?!

sfx.. elle mcphearson..think i've still got a jane fonda video (not DVD) somewhere..oh dear...
dear god, glass of vino time, i think....
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 09/01/2008 19:32

oh and paddle, quite tempted by your trampoline, but got nowhere to put it.
do legs screw off....a la cringy scene from the apprentice

fitfox · 09/01/2008 19:41

Steppy the only DVD I would recommend is Callanetics which I used and gives almost immediate effects. You can get a vid Amazon for a fiver and it bloody works!! It is very hard work, but kind of pulls everything in

Paddlechick666 · 09/01/2008 19:49

yeah steppie, the legs screw off

you won't need to do that tho coz once it's up the kids won't let you put it away!

i used to store it behind the sofa.

and yeah, i just make a white sauce and bung cheese into it. along with some wholegrain mustard yum!

i also make it from scratch a la roux [smug] [but not challenging CoV's crown]

fitfox · 09/01/2008 20:00

Well the student woman never showed at 7.30pm

What did I say about women being unrealiable???

It must be a woman's perogative to change her mind but not have the courtsey to cancel the appointment...

Hmmppphh!!

fitfox · 09/01/2008 20:15

Oh no - she's just texted saying train is stuck and can she come late? How annoying as I was just about to relax

SJ99 · 09/01/2008 20:16

Typical! Good job you have some other prospective tentants lined up. Hope you find someone good

Don't forget to add chives to cheese sauce, yum. I used many years ago also make a roux but since I discovered this easy method (a la Delia) I've never looked back

As for exercise video, I've ony got my pregnancy yoga dvd, guaranteed to relax you and send you to sleep

Sfx - hope you enjoy your run tom am if you make it, you're a braver woman than I am to execrise at that time of day

QC - hope you have a better night too

sfxmum · 09/01/2008 20:44

well they do say if you make resolutions best tell lots of people as they keep reminding of them let's see gear is sorted, alarm is set

hope you all have restful and peaceful nights off to read my book

good night all

fitfox · 10/01/2008 08:39

SFX - did you go for your run this morning ?

QC - how was DS last night. Mini beast actually slept very well and woke only to feed (3 times...). Maybe had something to do with the medised I gave him

Well lodger update (I know you are all rivetted):

Sophia's DH didn't take room (above budget)
Nice female has e-mailed and is coming tonight. This is a new one and is actually a female, N/S, professional, so I am hoping she turns up.

We have sent the internal doors away to be stripped so I am hoping no one thinks we are some kind of wierd family who live with no doors on their bedrooms/toilet/bathroom LOL!! I forgot to mention this to the Canadian, so just hope he didn't notice. Being male, he might not have.

I think I am going to start to do market research and when people turn the room down, as what was it that made them not choose it. Quality improvement through customer feedback and all that...

sfxmum · 10/01/2008 08:51

I think it will be exercise video today am trying to keep my eyes open, dd 'slept' in our bed all bunged up and snotty crying out for tissues every few minutes, it felt like.

she told me this morning that she might actually get a cough and that means she will need medicine drug fiend

foxie hope you get someone nice although faith in females doesn't always pay off I find.
you were talking of communes yesterday I know someone who lives in an eco one in Scotland

I sincerely hope you all had restful nights.

COV fingers still crossed and thinking of you

just thought of our expectant ladies they have been absent hope both are well

fitfox · 10/01/2008 09:14

SFX which DVD do you use? I used to love my callanetics video, although it is hard work!

I have the same cold as your DD - slept with my outh open all night as I can't breathe through all the mucous in my nose. Also have a tooth infection, so have to see dentist today but can't take AB's 'cos they give me breast thrush . Last time I had AB's it cost me £150 in medicine to get rid of the breast thrush (had to self medicate as GP won't prescribe, 'cos drug is not lisenced in UK blah blah blah)

How is everyone else today?

CoV how is your DH this morning?

Kewcumber · 10/01/2008 09:18

Cant get DS to sleep before 9pm despite doing everything in the book (thanks SFX its very good) and he's so tired. I'm sure that he is going through a separation anxiety phase. Think I just have to ride it through.

He woke at 4.30am but was fairly easy to get back to sleep.

Its my mums birthday today and we're supposed to be playing bridge and having dinner at my house. Going to be a bit tough with DS either needing me with him until he sleeps or alternatively leaving him to scream . It's not like I have a riotous social life, would be nice to have one normal evening.

Anyway, this too shall pass...

How's your DH Cov?

Paddlechick666 · 10/01/2008 09:38

kew, dd also awake at 5:30am again today but thankfully asleep early due to no nap yesterday!

anways, really recommend talking to ds about what happens morning and evening.

my CM also spent some time over the last couple of days talking to dd about early waking.

this morning she didn't yell at teh top of her voice, just started speaking iyswim, and i went in covered her up with her blanket and told her it was too early to wake up.

she settled back down for another 45m altho i don't think she was asleep!

i think our early waking is due to her getting a bit chilly. not sure how to combat as boiler in my room and very noisy when the heating comes on at 6am so really don't want to ratchet that back to 5am!

Kewcumber · 10/01/2008 09:44

Yes paddle I do talk to him about how his day has been and what he's going to do the next day, do the same in the morning (ie what he's going to do). That hasn't changed for ages neither has bedtime routine (though Xmas did send it a bit wobbly). I think its a combination of the lack of routine over Xmas and him going back to CM (who he loves but thankfully doesn't love quite as much as me ).

He just doesn't want to shut his eyes!

sfxmum · 10/01/2008 10:00

"children who always sleep through with no problems exist only in books and in other peoples' stories" - that keeps me sane

I think you are right about riding it out / phase type philosophy, mostly I just think it is more about us understanding what is going on to better manage our frustration.

foxie - when no other option available I still do the Elle Mcphearson video, but I prefer doing Pilates, dd has other ideas and is always jumping on me while I try to concentrate on the slow movements, she much rather I do the more active one.
btw I think quite a few people rate Davina's dvds
the thing about jogging is that it is me time clear headspace to start the day, I crave that

ComeOVeneer · 10/01/2008 10:08

Morning all. Am very bleary eyed this morningCHildren slept fine but I was woken by the strong winds last night (my room is in the loft space so rather exposed to the elements) and couldn't get back to sleep for hours.

DH is doing well. His B.P. has returned to normal so he will be discharged later this morning and I will drive over to fetch him. He is still quite sore.

Trying to motivate myself to be productive this morning but failing miserably

SushiMummy · 10/01/2008 10:24

Morning all!

Foxie - sorry Sofia's DH didn't take the room but the Canadian lecturer sounds promising, methinks.

CoV - hope you sleep better tonight.

QC - my DS's routine has been messed up since Xmas, too. He hasn't had a nap for more than a week now. And he's terribly grumpy every evening.

I do have the ancient Jane Fonda video tape, too. I have added a size in the last 6 months so any diet/exercise tips are welcome.
