all my experience working with violent mental health service users are becoming helpful, apparently the techniques work with young children tooHmm
they always say the objective is to get away safely and quickly not to injure anyone, although I can hurt if needed, they told us how to inflict pain for that purpose

vbus we tried to get tickets too but it was booked up as was everything showing at the theatre. might get an ambassadors pass for early bookings

sfxmum · 02/02/2011 15:39

Chinese friend saying clean and scrub today but do not clean at all at least until Sunday, superstition? think I will follow it you never knowGrin

UptoapointLordCopper · 02/02/2011 16:07

That's right. If you clean you might chuck out good luck. Mustn't do that. Smile Superstitious? Sensible.

vbus · 02/02/2011 16:51

Sfx - pity about tickets. I did buy mine mmonths ago, have been a huge fan of their stand up since I was about 16 and didn't want to miss out!

copper - i can imagine that happens and worse Sad

BTW got taste card today, so will check out venue tom! Sfx - did you get yours?

stepfordwife · 02/02/2011 17:18

hello all
yes, playground politics a pain. best to steer well clear if possible!

ooh vbus, what are you going to see?

well, productive week so far: tax return done and paid - Yay! WILL be more organised from now on. met a work deadline. yay!

kew - very kind of your mum to give ds1 some books. what's happened to my coffee from your super-duper new machine, eh? eh?

how are dcs coping with the full days at school?

started a mosaic course this morning. (sort of) yay! enjoyed it but deeply rubbish at it.
and am obviously the only juvenile of the group as i was the only one smirking everytime teach referred to "nippers" (the scissor things) as thought it sounded like knickers.
come on, how can anyone not snigger when someone says:"everyone put your nippers down now." Grin

ok, just me then...

going to see king's speech this evening with dh. a date! Shock

wish i had sky atlantic...
have a lovely evening all
toodlepip

vbus · 03/02/2011 12:53

Steppie - how was your hot date? Wink
Went to see Punt & Dennis last night who were brilliant. It was meant to be a date too but Dh had france trip sprung on him hence neighbour stepping in. Anyway hope you enjoyed film. Mosaic course sounds interesting, what are you designing?

Sfx - hope you got your head down and study going well

DS1 learnt about Chinese New Year at school. Today he has show and tell. They are young to be doing that, he is well excited though, would love to be a fly on the wall during that

tillyfernackerpants · 03/02/2011 13:14

vbus, that would be good to see! Ds1 had a day where they got up to sing a song, one of his friends sang Lady Gaga Grin

sfxmum · 03/02/2011 14:38

show and tell is very funny at school, sometimes I am around when they do it, they also have a few minutes each morning to share personal news, sometimes very personalBlush just don't let them on stuff you want to keep private
Grin

Kewcumber · 03/02/2011 14:40

odetothewestwing · 03/02/2011 18:14

Happy Birthday, lovely people Grin

More later (sorry!) - just wanted to pop in and say hello, not forgotten you, but been pretty full-on with ds lately (read tantrum after tantrum after tantrum ... all in the public glare, of course Grin and am feeling rather pooped in general!

Sorry I can't come on your night out Sad - bit far!

sfxmum · 03/02/2011 20:14

hello

westwing send him to nursery asapGrin poor you it is a pain don't worry about public displays it happens to us all

well had a huge fright with dd today, picked her up from her class in Sheen and just as we were arriving home she flew off her scooter and hit the pavement with her mouth, lots of blood and screaming ensued
now all seems ok she had dinner and seems happy will take her to dentist and GP in the morning just to check it over

the wine instead of celebratory has been used to calm nerves, ours not hers obviously she is playing 20 questions with daddy in the bath

UptoapointLordCopper · 03/02/2011 20:25

Hello!

Woke up 4am this morning for no good reason. Then meeting at work, then parents' evening. But off to celebrate CNY tomorrow! Somewhere. So tired now though ...

westwing - public tantrums are the best. I always think why should I be the only one who suffers. Grin Besides it's usually less loud out and about. Less echoey.

sfx - Both DS1 and DS2 had this kinds of accidents. The amount of blood is pretty scary. Hope she's OK. Hope you are OK!

Happy birthday too to both sfx and Kew!

tillyfernackerpants · 03/02/2011 20:54

sfx Shock poor minisfx, I've lost count of the amount of times ds's have done that, usually the blood is from their teeth cutting their lip, always looks worse than it is.

Westwing, poor you! Ds2's tantrums usually consist of him sitting down & wailing, then someone coming up & saying 'aww, how cute' Hmm. Remember its just a phase & it will pass (eventually)!

Have been studying tonight & am v pleased to be flying through current essay. Interesting topic obviously helps a great deal!

OP posts:
vbus · 03/02/2011 21:27

Westwing - sympathies, be strong and have some choc, hope DS calms down soon. Yes, we've all been there Grin Not looking fwd to Ds2 going through this phase

Sfx - hope miniSfx feeling alright now, not nice seeing their blood

Tilly - well done on essay

copper - early night for you so that you can enjoy your celebrations tomorrow

Bed for me too, dh not home yet but I'm too tired after last night to wait up any longer for him Blush

sfxmum · 04/02/2011 11:15

hello took dd to dentist early this morning there is some give on both front teeth but he does not think it is too bad wait and see

she is at school doesn't look too bad, both dh and me are wrecks Blush

copper love your idea of sharing tantrums all very big society and sharing kind like

UptoapointLordCopper · 04/02/2011 15:18

Hello!

Back from outing to Natural History Museum and Chinatown.

sfx - DS1 had wobbly front teeth for years till they dropped off naturally. Dentist was not optimistic but nothing bad happened.

Takes a village to bring up a child etc etc. Grin

sfxmum · 04/02/2011 16:14

when dis this Wine happen? ShockGrin

are they trying to tell us something?
is Mn being sponsored now? is it
only on Fridays?

in all the confusion yesterday I forgot to say that dd had left school with scuffed knees due to 'that other child' sitting on her back, well this morning I was quite firm, nothing like being tired and emotional and
apparently they had a 'serious' chatHmm

I did say my next bit of advice would be instead of telling the teacher hit the other child hard, then let them talk to me

I may well be over reacting

sfxmum · 04/02/2011 16:14

copper hope you had a nice time
and celebrations are going well

hope dd's teeth are the same

UptoapointLordCopper · 04/02/2011 16:36

Sitting on her back! Shock Why are the grown-ups not spotting these sort of behaviour? Angry A thumping may well be deserved.

We had a very good time. Two hours in a museum and nobody having the screaming heebie-jeebies is more than one gets away with usually. Smile And a museum worker came and showed us some skulls and got us to guess what they were. It was fun! Dim sum was fine too. Friend's little DS ate chicken feet. Well-impressed.

And MN has the best emoticon on the whole interweb. Cheers Wine!

stepfordwife · 05/02/2011 13:20
