UptoapointLordCopper · 29/12/2010 14:20

All gone, dusty! Smile

Had a "nap" while kids played Ben10 and periodically went "shhhhh". Grin

Going out to the park to continue Ben10 game. Hmm

sfxmum · 29/12/2010 14:49

hello
dh is back at work I still have not run which is making me slightly twitchy

been out and about locally with dd might pop to Kew tomorrow for some merry go round fun and lunch I guess

apparently people run and walk dogs on the towpath after dark with torches, dh has done it but I am just too nervy for that

sfxmum · 29/12/2010 14:50

dd says Ben10 is too boyish for her yet she goes around with Buzz and Woody having adventures Hmm

tillyfernackerpants · 29/12/2010 16:22

sfx, dh has a head torch for night running, he quite often goes running in Richmond Park after work!

dusty, sorry you couldn't make your trip over but glad you can get refunds

Copper, can only do 1 Jan now cos dh has arranged other stuff without checking with me Xmas Hmm. Is that any good? Though they are also showing it at Westfields cinema if you can do 8.10pm

OP posts:
sfxmum · 29/12/2010 17:12

hi tilly we do have a head torch it is just that by myself feels weird maybe I will get desperate enough

Xmas Grin

we got some vouchers for high tea at F&M I hope it is nice should amuse dd and we can have a different outing for out anniversary in March

sfxmum · 29/12/2010 17:14

dusty yes refunds what a relief

dd got her appetite back just in time for Christmas and has not stopped yet, I do hope no more illness/sickness in the foreseeable future really not liking the news about the Flu

UptoapointLordCopper · 29/12/2010 18:20

tilly - 1 Jan evening might be OK, but we are out morning and afternoon ... Let me think.

sfx - quite fancy taking kids to high tea somewhere posh. Have a feeling they might eat money's worth. Grin Report back please!

Flu news indeed very bad.

I've been reading Ben10 Alien Force. DS1 impressed at how fast I can read. Grin Get your kicks where you can. Grin

By the way Dan's caramel Christmas cake very yummy indeed.

UptoapointLordCopper · 29/12/2010 21:56

tilly - can do 1 Jan evening. Shall we be brave and do westfield?

dustythedolphin · 30/12/2010 11:58

Is F&M Fortnum & Mason?

SFX running with torches? I would be thinking is "dog poo, dog poo" if I ran along the towpath in the dark! Xmas Grin

dustythedolphin · 30/12/2010 11:59

Hope the Swine Flu doesn't hit anyone,. we think we had it a couple of years ago, but mild version thankfully

sfxmum · 30/12/2010 15:50

hello folks

lorcopper cake looks and sounds quite delicious but sadly can't think of an excuse to bake it now, must bookmark

dusty you lightweightXmas Grin dog poo is never a menace, dog owners on the other hand
It is indeed that posho place, dh's uncle is fond of giving us stuff from there but I think he judged dd to be old enough to have tea there, I don't mind so long as I am not paying

re swine flu the doctor thinks dd had it last year before Christmas, poor kid was really low with very high temp

we spent the afternoon at Kew Gardens a couple of rides, lunch and a nice walk about, all quite grey and drizzly but still very pleasant, must get back next week, dd not back at school until the 5th

odetothewestwing · 30/12/2010 18:05

Hello, dear people - belated Merry Christmas! Am just about recovering from flu with associated chest infection, so that was good timing. Bad luck, indeed, especially considering that I had had the flu jab! Have been in bed for days with dh looking after us all, the poor guy is exhausted. And so it will be a very quiet new year tomorrow.

What is everyone else doing for new year - any exciting plans?

New year resolution is to find some sort of job (I know - yada yada yada, I said that LAST year Grin) Hard to believe it but ds will get funding for nursery from September. Not from April, unfortunately we miss out on that one by ONE DAY Angry

And here I must publicly apologise for lack of Christmas cards, a combination of onset of flu combined with ill ability to locate things electronically. What I'm saying is, I need to simply write down addresses in my address book, old-fashioned style, this seems to be the only way that works for me!

Might start browsing hols soon, I think it is time to make some plans!

UptoapointLordCopper · 30/12/2010 19:21

Hello!

Been doing the sales in Kingston. Bought posh frying pans.

Me: "And do you have lids for these ones?"
Salesperson: "Frying pans NEVER have lids."
Me: "How about these ones with the lids then?"
Salesperson: "These are saute pans."

Xmas Blush Xmas Hmm Xmas Grin

Now you know. Do not make the same mistake as I did.

Westwing - hope you are well now.

Dusty - What else could F & M stand for apart from Fortnum and Mason? Xmas Grin

Last year's New Year's Resolution made in about July: sleep more.

This year's: do less.

sfxmum · 30/12/2010 19:28

lorcopper 2012 hibernate? Grin what shop was that with the frying pans?

westwing glad to hear you feel better, Christmas in bed with flu not great
I have no plans for New Year apart from sharing a bottle of bubbly with DH and possibly some nibbles if they survive until then
Cheers

my resolution is definitely get a job, no mean feat in a recession, but I can do something low level and baddly paid while being the eldest member of staffHmm

I am actually very cheerful today CHEERS

Grin
vbus · 30/12/2010 20:12

Salut indeed! Back from France late last night, pretty tired but had a brill holiday. Kids really enjoyed themselves and we ate and drank far too much Xmas Grin

Westwing - sorry to hear you've been ill, hope you're better now

Dusty - bummer about your trip but glad you can get refund

Copper - LOl at pans story! I need to get some more pans but have decided to wait til after kitchen is done (my resolution to make sure it's done this year)

Sfx - F&M Xmas Envy I have a voucher for them too for set meal, have to try and use it before mid march. DS1 not back til 5th either but really not planning anything much next few days.

Also got bubbly chilling fridge for tom night, not sure I'll stay up til midnight though, past my bedtime!

UptoapointLordCopper · 30/12/2010 21:13

sfx - John Lewis for frying pans.

sfxmum · 30/12/2010 21:34

wave to vbus seems like a nice Christmas

lordcopper they should know better must be a tempGrin

dd went to bed with very specific request for tomorrow, she wants a chocolate sponge cake with cream and strawberry jam in the middle and 2011 written on topHmm ok then guess I can manage that

have been catching up with the Narnia films on iplayer, they are considerably less scary than the books I read when a pre teen but just as exciting, although at the time the Catholic imagery completely escaped me
I like the Beatrix Potter one too, obviously easily pleased at the moment, Inception was quite good too

tillyfernackerpants · 30/12/2010 21:51

hi vbus, sounds like you've had a lovely time

Copper, have sent you a message, check your MN inbox!!

Have had no requests for tomorrow, in fact think the whole idea of New Year is just washing over ds1's head Xmas Grin

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 30/12/2010 21:52

sfx, I picked up a full Narnia set from a charity shop & have been rereading them for the first time in years. The religious aspect had completely passed me by first time around as well. Have also (on your recommendation Xmas Grin) picked up Middlemarch & Anna Karenina to read

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 30/12/2010 22:28

I quite like the narnia books, apart from the lion the witch and the wardrobe. That one is just too obvious ...

Am reading Don't cry for me Aberystwyth. Xmas Grin One of the most surreal books I've ever read. Highly recommended. After this will be Nero Wolfe. Crime fest.

UptoapointLordCopper · 30/12/2010 22:29

Have replied, tilly!

sfxmum · 30/12/2010 23:11

I think it is different when you read them as a child

Tilly I hope you like them, very different books but both reflect on the situation of women, I have read AK twice and saw different things, Middlemarch is just quiet genius

sfxmum · 30/12/2010 23:12

Lordcopper I have seen that book about Aberystwyth seems to crop up a lot lately in book titles

UptoapointLordCopper · 30/12/2010 23:31

sfx - it's a series of detective stories set in a fictitious Aberystwyth. Very very odd indeed. But I'm learning a lot about the Welsh in Patagonia. Grin
