hello folks chat away

OP posts:
sfxmum · 08/10/2010 17:37

steppie I am an unfriendly bitch and snarl at owners and tourists walking 4 abreast oblivious to anyone else, they generally keep out of my wayGrin

now seriously the stupid owners of dogs they can't control are a pain and runners share the plague with postworkers everywhere

I particularly hate the snappy little ones generally with the big ones you know where you are, they tend to be predictable

someone on the runners thread has to deal with cows and another near Nairobi has more exotic irritations, no one would laugh at you

OP posts:
stepfordwife · 08/10/2010 17:41

ah thanks, sfx, i feel better now i now the subject has some gravitas amongst (proper) runners Grin

anyhow am safe for now as my flabby arse never actually makes it on to the towpath.
nearly bought a cross-trainer the other day but out of stock...

sfxmum · 08/10/2010 17:44

you go on that path pronto it is gorgeous now and it has reopened all the way to Kew again
you don't have to run all the way just start the couch to 5k walk jog programme it is a lovely time to do it now

OP posts:
stepfordwife · 08/10/2010 17:49

yes boss Grin

vbus · 08/10/2010 18:33

Isn't Sfx is scary when being assertive? Grin

Remind me again who's on 10/11 - you can text me if you don't want to say here. I think I'll be owed a night out as DH said he's off to India the following wk!

Nosferatu - that's must've been tough and worrying for you both. I totally understand the rhythm thing. My Dh travels quite frequently but usually just for 1-2wks chunks but even when's he Uk he only tends to see kids at wkend which tends to result in completing revving up and mayhem Hmm
Yes, do come along to night out, it's all fairly relaxed

Steppie - IKWYM about feeling Envy part of me wishes I was the one exploring China!

Football just cancelled tom am pity was looking fwd to see what they get up to. off to wedding in Birmingham after lunch, hen do is in Dec though Confused

vbus · 08/10/2010 18:34

completely revving them up

UptoapointLordCopper · 08/10/2010 19:07

Hello!

Just back from enjoyable visit to DSs' friends.

vbus - bacteria risotto probably mistranslated. Should probably be fungus. Grin

Owners of snappy dogs not in control is the scariest thing.

Go Steppie go!

vbus · 08/10/2010 19:15

Copper - LOL, but what about the caterpillars? yuk

sfxmum · 08/10/2010 20:06

UptoapointLordCopper · 08/10/2010 21:21

Caterpillars probably quite nice deep-fried. I had deep-fried witchetty grub in Alice Springs once. It was nice. Like walnut.

nosferatu · 08/10/2010 22:11

Hello ok. Life is easier when it's friday and beer is in hand.
Stepfordwife - DH is a TV cameraman but luckily now does moer showbiz then war .

I will speak to you guys before but it looks I will see you in Wagamama.

looks like the weekend will be nice ( and why do I think " washing" : ):)

UptoapointLordCopper · 09/10/2010 19:29

Hello!

No sun here despite "promise", but had quite a nice day anyway.

Hope everyone else having a nice weekend too.

sfxmum · 09/10/2010 19:39

yes we went ahead with the planned Kew picnic too.

dd asked us today if we were planning to both go back to full time work any time soon, in a hopeful voice, because, apparently she really wants to attend the after school serviceShock

OP posts:
dustythedolphin · 10/10/2010 14:52

Steppie I have the same problem here and have taken to cycling as I can whizz past the dogs. I used to walk but have my time was taken up trying to calm snappy barky dogs down.

Go on, get yer aerse out there onto that towpath woman! Grin

SFxx are you still running regularly? I haven't done any walking/cycling for a month and am trying to be good again now. My thighs are experiencing Lots of pain barriers.

dustythedolphin · 10/10/2010 14:56

Vbus any chance you can tag along on any future trips by DH?

sfxmum · 10/10/2010 20:51

dustydolphin I do still go out regularly but have been desperately lazy lately and my times are disgraceful am now attempting to train properly for a nice MN run meet up before Christmas

wasn't it gorgeous today?Smile

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 10/10/2010 21:55

sfx - so I've been reading my how-to-do-crossword book and trying out examples and after one week I can do about 75% of a tabloid-level crossword. Ask DH if I should give up now or whether there is hope yet. Grin

sfxmum · 10/10/2010 22:58

you do realise most people actually cheat with specialist books don't you? and by repeated cheating and knowledge of particular preferences of specific crossword setters you end up getting rather good and no longer need to cheat...much... unless desperate Grin
or so I heard

vbus · 11/10/2010 13:14

Hi

Hope everyone enjoyed delayed sunshine Smile

Sfx - thanks for clips, will email you about gig. LOL at DD's comments, how is the job hunt going for both of you?

Dusty - would love t o go on trip with Dh but sadly not an option with DC, I can dream though!

Wedding at wkend was excellent, got to see lots of friends snd family, my cousins came over from US so really nice to catch up. Dc enjoyed it too, DS2 made it til 10.30pm before falling asleep and DS1 was a party animal and stayed up til 12.30am, needless to say we did very little yesterday!

sfxmum · 11/10/2010 19:10

hello all

vbus replied

this morning I went to see the GP, had booked an appointment via their new automated phone booking system, turns out appointment was next Monday at 8.50amBlush the receptionist took pity on me and got me an appointment for later in the morning

while I was waiting to see the doctor I listened to a conversation between two posh old biddies, apparently one was going to India on a cruise and was somewhat disgruntled that she had to get a Visa for India and assorted other local countries, and that she would have to have vaccinations 'I am of course not intending to eat there, oh no meals always on the boat, one has to be sensible' then 'we are flying back from Sri Lanka or whatever they call it now' ShockGrin

I am reading Human Traces now, very good so far I like Faulks

Watched Atonement over the weekend, puzzled as to why Keira Knightly is so well regarded

end of report

anyway Spooks night and Lucas love life becomes ever more complicated, the boy has problems

tillyfernackerpants · 11/10/2010 19:40

Hello all, haven't been on much, rl getting in the way a little of my MN time!!

sfx, lol @ overheard conversation, sounds like something from the 1950s!!

copper, agree with sfx re crosswords, I can usually complete the Guardian ones but haven't managed a Times one yet!

Nosferatu, would be lovely to meet you if you can make the 23rd. If you want to meet beforehand, let me know & perhaps we can meet up at one of the playgroups?

Steppie, good on you for even thinking about running. I just don't run, I hate it, won't even run for a bus anymore Grin. Cycling & swimming on the other hand I enjoy!

dustythedolphin · 11/10/2010 20:32

Tilly I like swimming & cycling too, shame we don't live near each other Grin

SFX Grin at that convo in the doctor's surgery!!! How very "Kew"
