Welcome Kiera

Class parent is just a parent who does stuff for the class like welcomes new parents, brings snacks for events etc.

I don't remember having to swear anything when we got DS passport. I have had to do it in court and it always makes me wonder what the point is - I am not Christian and it is a pointless exercise and always makes me feel uncomfortable. I have never had the guts to say anything though.

Kickass - I seem to have had a few days like that with DS but I think he can help it. Or maybe I am just being mean. Most recent conversation:

Me: DS please do not put that wet sponge on your jigsaw puzzle
DS: Why
Me: Because it will ruin it and you won't be able to play with the puzzle again. Remember when you did it last week and the piece don't fit together any more?
DS: Yes. Ok
Me: DS... please do not put that sponge on the puzzle
DS:
Me: NOOOoooo. I asked you NOT to do that
DS: I'm sad that you told me not to do that
Me

Did not buy anything in Target. Might go back for some t-shirts.

Ooo, Cali will def go back and stock up then. They only had mediums or XXLs today, neither of which will fit me. V annoying.

Good luck with the move Tangerine

I just got a lovely bunch of flowers from my mum DS for Mother's Day

dh has just put dd to bed, she managed to smack him on the jaw with the top of her head, i'm not sure which one got hurt most.

i have been to docs today for the never ending sinus probs. now have anti-biotics, nasal spray & the doc recommended this . thankfully sadly, they had run out when i went shopping this pm.

alipiggie · 21/03/2009 01:24

I'm a class parent - involves organizing the parties, end of year/semester gifts for teachers and generally getting involved when necessary. Its all I can do as I'm a full-time working single Mum. I love it though. Most of the Mums at my boys' school are SAHMs so it's the only way I get to stay in touch with what's happening. I love Tarje (Target). Just got the most beautiful pair of orange suede sandals for the equivalent of 6.5 pounds sterling. I'm sure I'll be totally shocked by the prices in the UK in a couple of months time. Did I tell you all I'm going back for a month .

nooka · 21/03/2009 02:09

kissangel that looks so yuk! that woman has a truly weird expression. I think this is just way too similar to American's like of douches and enemas...

SuperBunny · 21/03/2009 02:25

Nooooo, that's gross. I didn't even know nostrils could do that. Yuck.

Hello Ali. Are you going back to England?

OP posts:
kickassangel · 21/03/2009 03:05

the doc had the good grace to laugh as she showed me. however, the next step is consultant & scans & operation, so am thinking i may have to give it a go!!

dh has fallen asleep on the sofa. i have woken him up twice & he has been grumpy to me twice. do i leave him there (he will get VERY cold, even with two blankets), or go for third time lucky?

SuperBunny · 21/03/2009 03:08

If that's your choice, the netti-pot is definitely worth a try, I think.

Leave DH there.

OP posts:
kickassangel · 21/03/2009 03:18

i can hear him snoring, even though i'm one floor up from him. may put an extra blanket on.

sooo, when i eventually get my neti pot, does anyone wish me to report back?

SuperBunny · 21/03/2009 03:26

I'm expecting a youtube video, Kickass so you won't need to post a report, only a link

OP posts:
nooka · 21/03/2009 05:11

Oh, if i could hear him snoring I would definitely wake him up! Maybe take off all the covers just to make him move! I am so sound intolerant!

kiera · 21/03/2009 08:33

Tangarine - dh will go for the recce trip but we were told kids can't come as they would be too distracting and it will be a really mad few days finding house + school which means I can't come either as my youngest is only 2 and has hardly left my side since he was born. Also it is a longer flight to Seattle than NY. I am jealous tho as dh gets to make the decisions...

SuperBunny · 21/03/2009 13:10

Oh, I wouldn't like that Kiera but Washington is a really long way. Hope DH makes good decisions.

OP posts:
jabberwocky · 21/03/2009 17:30

I think the neti pot comes originally from India. I've had friends who use it and say it's the best thing they ever did.

NY to WA is a loooong flight.

SuperBunny · 21/03/2009 18:10

I'm a bit curious about the neti pot. I keep eyeing up my teapot. I won't but I want to...

OP posts:
kiera · 21/03/2009 22:58

Yes the long flight with the kids is one bit of the move I am NOT looking forward to! Might dose them up with Medised! Any suggestions??

kickassangel · 22/03/2009 03:24

actually, dd has been fine so far (done the trip 3 times.)
i just accept that she'll watch tv/sleep & only eat crap (things i can take on as she won't eat any airline food) for the day.
if it's an overnight flight, get them tired before you go, & get them to sleep.

dh woke up & came up to bed about a min after my final post last night. personally, i'd rather hear his snoring from downstairs, than next to me in the bed.

we've had a bad day. dd lost a teddy in town & dh backed into our baby sitter's car, which is actually her dad's & quite a nice saab. oh dear.

kickassangel · 22/03/2009 03:35

just seen this thread

ladies, we can get black socks & comfy knickers at last!! (but may end up paying duty)

SuperBunny · 22/03/2009 05:21

Fab news, Kickass - M&S, not your day. Sorry it was such a bad one. Hope tomorrow is better. Happy Mothers day everyone. I will spend mine at a country club in the suburbs.

tangarine · 22/03/2009 08:59

Thanks for the class parent replies. Not sure about the PTA, but will find out (and am also going to be working F/T and single parenting half the week so won't have much time to get involved, especially as I'm picking up my MBA again in May as well).

Kiera, hope your DH makes some good choices for you!

SuperBunny · 23/03/2009 02:26

So busy, tangerine!

I have a Vera Wang Crystal bowl that I do not want - brand new, in box with labels. It is worth $75. Can I ebay it? And, if so, how do I ship it? Assuming it sells. It weighs about 3lb and is obviously breakable. Are there any other options? Pawn shop perhaps? [ebay virgin]
