Hi all. Used to be a regular on MN when I lived in London but since moving back to NZ have found it harder to make the connections due to all the brits being asleep when us down under are online! So if anyone is keen to start a thread for those of us in this predicament please reply! My DD has just turned 5 and started school last week (scary). Have just found out I'm expecting number 2 - due roughly Xmas day...

My DD loves the zoo! We have an annual pass already and would be very happy to go there if the weather's OK. How about we meet at Te Papa anyway at say 11am Saturday and decide whether we stay there or go up to the zoo. Both places have decent cafes. My DD is Isobel and she's 5. I'm tall with dark hair. We'll be somewhere near the spinning water-ball thing in the main lobby that all the kids like to touch.

Hi, Yes will meet you in entrance at 11.00 - watch out for 3 very loud kids!

It looks to be a wet day so the museum sounds good - what recommendations do you have for parking near the museum?

Zoe
mobile number is 02102519412

buzzybee · 12/07/2007 07:43

I'd just park at the museum if I was you. It does cost but its not bad considering the museum itself is free.
There is a bit of parking in front of the big red building (was The Warhouse, now closed) opposite you could try first but just remember its all one way streets around that area.
You can never tell with Wellington weather though! If it does miraculously dawn sunny-ish then feel free to text me with a change of plans.

Would you mind if I joined you tomorrow? (welliemum here by the way) I need to keep the dds occupied while DH sorts out the driveway and the museum sounds just right!

I'll hang around the entrance at 11am. I'm easy to spot as I have a huge cochlear implant processor thing on the side of my head, but will also persuade dd1 to wear her hot pink raincoat so we should be findable...

PellMell · 13/07/2007 07:22

Hi am trying to phone my friend in NZ this morning from the UK. In her email the number she has given me starts like this 64 9 4
Does anyone have any suggestions where this number is wrong as it is an unrecognised number.
I will tell her straight away about this thread as she is feeling a little isolated with 2 under five year old boys.

AnnainNZ · 13/07/2007 08:12

Pellmell the 64 is the country code for NZ and the 9 is the area code and there should be 7 numbers after that. Looks like you only have 5 numbers after that so it's incomplete.

There are a couple of NZ threads, if she puts "NZ" in the search bit she should find them.

PellMell · 13/07/2007 08:37

thanks for that Anna.
I have just emailed her and asked her to give me the correct number
I also told her about this site. I hope she finds the time to have a look.
We have been best buddies since we were little toddlers squabbling with each other over our garden fences.
OMG
thats is nearly forty yearsIt's weird because I feel nearer to her just reading all the NZ posts.

buzzybee · 13/07/2007 09:00

Of course Welliemum the more the merrier! I'm tall and will prob be wearing a red jacket. Issy will have her navy blue probably. We both have curly hair. I look forward to meeting you all.
Pellmell you could also try www.whitepages.co.nz which is the online phone directory.

I have great news!!!

My maternal serum (blood test) results came back at 1:660 for chromosomal defects (like DS) and 1:2000 for neural (like SB). I feel vindicated by my stubborn refusal to believe the 1:21 from the nuchal fold scan. My mw is booking me into Wellington hospital for asap after 18 weeks for a detailed scan and hopefully that will be even more positive! Plus I get the find out the sex (probably) 2 weeks earlier than normal.
Might also look into getting the 4D scan privately at 24 weeks.

DD and I had such a cool day today too. The local pet shop had an Aqua Fun Day so we bought a tank and some fish - they look great! Then met 2 other MNs for the first time at the local museum and we had a great time there too (hi to Zoej and Welliemum if you see this!) before DD and I headed up to the zoo, which had lots of cool stuff on because its school hols (made up for the cold!) - we saw the cheetahs and pelicans being fed and a baby serval kitten going for a walk on a lead.

Sorry can't stop smiling!!

Have to say thanks a million to AnnainNZ for putting me onto the test in the first place too.

Welliemum hope your DD is feeling better tonight too and she just needed a sleep. It was really lovely to meet you and zoe and your families.

kjaysmum · 14/07/2007 08:26

oh Buzzybee, I am so happy for you, that really is the best of news. I was keeping an eye on your meetup, I couldn't make it as things have been a bit tricky for me. I would love to meet up again when I return from the UK and meet you other mumsnetters sometime too.

AnnainNZ · 14/07/2007 09:00

buzzybee, that's wonderful wonderful wonderful, I'm so glad you've had such a low risk result. I'm assuming you won't have an amnio now?

The detailed scan I had at the hospital was very reassuring, hope yours is too. You must feel you've been waiting ages for all these various tests and results.

I had a 4D scan too, it was very cool to see the face and hands and legs like on a photograph, not an X-ray. Logically I know she looked a little bit like an alien still but I got a real emotional jolt when I saw her face and just thought, she's beautiful! Must be those mummy goggles starting to work!

buzzybee · 14/07/2007 09:06

Its not a combined result so they nuchal result still stands, but no I won't be having the amnio now and am really looking forward to the scan! Think I might also finally take the plunge and tell my work .

Hi to buzzybee and welliemum,

We all had a great day today with you both at the museum. It was great to meet you both and the kids. I hope your DD is feeling well Welliemum. I am gutted we couldn't come to the zoo if you saw the Serval Kitten - so cute.

I look forward to meeting up again with you both soon.

Buzzybee, would have several drinks to celebrate but believe tis not really encouraged in my delicate condition...

buzzybee · 14/07/2007 10:16

Thanks Anna. Nor mine I suppose!

How many weeks are you now? I'm just on 17 today. How are you feeling?

The serval kitten was very cool Zoe although we did have to stand fairly well back while DD wanted to pat it. It was pretty cold up there though, very glad we had our coats as well and had well deserved hot choc at the cafe at the end.

Fabulous news buzzybee!! I'm so glad!

It was lovely to meet you all today - we must definitely do this again, and it would be great to see you too, kjaysmum. We're keen for anything, and we LOVE the zoo.

dd1 spent all afternoon languishing on the sofa like a Victorian lady, being waited on hand and foot, then perked up just before bedtime and wanted to run around and play hairdressers and annoy her sister, so we're not dealing with anything too serious think...

Anna, your scan sounds amazing. I hope you and buzzy can really enjoy your pregnancies now.

AnnainNZ · 14/07/2007 16:34

I'm 24 weeks today. Feeling very very well at the moment, apart from an annoying tendency to wake up at 2 in the morning and not be able to get back to sleep for a couple of hours. Hence me being on MN at 3.30 in the morning. My bump is at the stage where I'm looking definitely pg (as opposed to just looking like I've eaten all the pies) but is not big enough to be uncomfortable. Hoping this will stay the case for the next 16 wks but feel it's unlikely!

buzzybee · 14/07/2007 23:07

Wow Anna, 24 weeks! isn't that considered a but of a milestone or something?
I know what you mean about waking at 2am. Thought that was me being a bit stressed but happened again last night and I was happy, happy!
Glad to hear about your DD weasley/welliemum. Are you a HP fan? Have you seen the latest yet? DD wants to call baby Harry! (if a boy) She made me take her to #4 but has said she'd rather wait and see #5 on DVD so she can fast forward the scary bits. SHe's getting to the age now where she understands about things like death etc - came into my bedroom the other morning crying because our cat had died (a year ago!)

OP posts:
AnnainNZ · 16/07/2007 07:21

Yep, 24 weeks, the magical number when you know the baby could survive if born...though I guess it would be better if she stayed in there a bit longer yet.

buzzybee · 16/07/2007 09:57

So are you having a girl then? congrats!
Had MW here tonight and heartbeat was 128 bpm which I've heard poss indicates a boy but who knows! Will hopefully find out next week at the scan.
Kjaysmum - thanks for your message too. Hoping things are going OK for you. You must be off to the UK soon.

OP posts:
kjaysmum · 16/07/2007 23:17

Not so good really, buzzybee, but coping. Very much looking to seeing my mum, to be honest, only two and a half weeks to go. Desperately trying to keep Ds away from the Chicken Pox which seems to be doing the rounds up here!

buzzybee · 17/07/2007 07:07

Sorry to hear that Kjaysmum

Have a great time in the UK though, I'm sure it will be fab to cach up with everyone over there.

OP posts:
AnnainNZ · 24/07/2007 08:21

Buzzybee have you had your scan yet? Weren't they going to try to fit you in this week? Hope everything went/goes well

buzzybee · 25/07/2007 06:37

Hi Anna. Had hoped they would but the appointment came thru for next Wed 1 Aug at 2pm so counting the days at the moment! will be 19+5 then. Am feeling very positive though so fingers crossed everything will be fine. It better be as I bought a couple of little things in the Kirks sale this week - couldn't resist...Also went thru some of DD's old baby clothes over the weekend so have a fair idea what I need. Now just need to find out the sex!
