Arrgh, had to start a new thread!

Yes,you can get more land in Tauranga. Well, somewhere like Omokoroa or somewhere.Wouldn't want to live much closer than that. And I woulkdn't want to live at he Mount. Lovely as it is. Too touristy, imo.
We would like enough land for a pool (eventually) maybe a sleepout and still enough for a veggie patch and garden for kids. Don't neeed acres +. Wouldn't say no though,if we could afford it! Be nice to have a few sheep or something/

I think Mum would have to fly to Tauranga. So that would be
Manchester-London,London-Singapore, Singapore-Aukland,Aukland- Tauranga
Bad.

justa howws the back? Hope physio was a help,we may have driven past you!
Your house sounds great.
My mums friend lives in Silverdale. She has about an acre with some sheep etc
Wasn't overly impressed at but didn't give it a proper look I suppose, just stopped to buy flowers for Mums friend! Always worth another look

Right stop it AB- $765K where I live would buy you a 3 bed leaky home with around 300m of land. I feel depressed.

AngryBeaver · 22/10/2012 10:34

Double glazing? What is this double glazing of what you speak?! Ohhhh, I remember

AngryBeaver · 22/10/2012 10:37

Gone to bed ... Depressed. Tomorrows another day and they say you don't need to be a resident to play lotto here

WhatSheSaid · 22/10/2012 18:32

Though in other parts of Auckland, your 765 K would buy this...

www.trademe.co.nz/property/residential/for-sale/auction-525695597.htm

The cv is actually 640K though you would want to use some of your money to update the bathroom.

AngryBeaver · 22/10/2012 20:47

Yep, we play the lotto lolly, you never know!
wss...ok,I'm sold on Titirangi, it looks beautiful!

OP posts:
WhatSheSaid · 22/10/2012 23:24

Titirangi one not as lovely as the one you linked to in Welcome Bay, but it's a pretty good price for Auckland.

Hello, I have been watching this thread from afar! I have a beach house in papamoa and love it! 2mins from beach, sea views and fairly high spec. I believe the fastest growing place in the north island, so facilities will only get better. You will need to get yourself a beach cruiser bike tho..... Get up the mount if you haven't already, great views. Enjoy the bay of plenty, apply named I'd say!

vvviola · 23/10/2012 06:16

Ooh justabout keeping my fingers crossed it works out for you. Knowing what a difference a fenced in back garden is making for us, I can only imagine how great it would be for you.

I am child-free and meant to be studying on Friday if anyone fancies meeting up. I'm quite happy to be surrounded by other people's children without having to wrangle my own Grin

WhatSheSaid · 23/10/2012 06:31

Hi gingerodgers I had a great girls' weekend once in Papamoa, pre-kids.

viola fri am we have my dd's last-but-one speech therapy session and in the pm we have a friend coming round. Keen to another time though.

WhatSheSaid · 23/10/2012 06:32

Oh and justabout I thought your garden was fenced? Obviously not, is most of it though?

xMinerva · 23/10/2012 07:11

vvv can you do afternoon? I'm up for it after lunch if that's ok for you?

xMinerva · 23/10/2012 07:12

justa good luck. After this house, any house we move into after this must be fully fenced. I love being able to chuck boys out in the garden while I'm cooking, can't do that here.

If anyone is planning on ordering anything from Next, they emailed me to say as of 4th November they are adding import duty to their NZ prices and also adding $10 delivery charge. So order before then!

Yay for sunny day today, we have a kindy trip to the zoo and 40 kids plus siblings plus parents could have been quite miserable in the rain. As it is, I'm cracking open the suncream :)

vvviola · 23/10/2012 21:31

Minerva sorry I can't do after lunch I'm afraid (I could until this morning, but have to take DD2 for vaccinations before the practice nurse's head explodes because she's out of sync with the NZ schedule, and Friday afternoon was all they had)Sad

I'm free up until 1 though (justabout does that timing suit you?) and I'll be free all day next Wednesday too not avoiding study, oh no Grin

vvviola · 23/10/2012 21:51

Also, may I indulge in a tiny bit of off topic bragging?

Today I am wearing a leather jacket I bought in late 2006. I discovered I was pregnant with DD1 about a month later & promptly grew out of the jacket. A receipt in my pocket tells me I must have fit into it again (briefly!) in late 2008. Haven't been able to wear it since. Am feeling very stylish wearing it on my way into uni today Grin

I am pretty chuffed with myself GrinBlush (9kg down, a few more to go...)

longwhitecloud · 23/10/2012 22:23

vvviola that is amazing, well done you for losing 9kg. Impressed!

Can I have a brag too...I did my first walk/run on c25k programme. I will be fit, I will be fit....didn't even have a heart attack at the end of it.

Stop the property porn....! Are prices in Tauranga better than Dunedin? I'm surprised!

I really liked that Titirangi one though, beautiful yard and views. I can't quite believe Auckland prices though, some people must literally be sitting on little gold mines.

I am trying not to get carried away, so I think our first house will be quite conservative until we get our heads around NZ wages and outgoings. What do you guys think? Would you stretch for the dream house? and eat beans on toast for twenty years or stay safe and risk averse and be jealous every time you drive past houses with views

I didn't think I was that fussed regarding views of water but now I have seen some of the houses, I want a view!

Need to go to bed to rest my weary knees.

Prices have gone a bit nuts in Auckland, even in the outer suburbs as more people are unable to pay the price of a house in the inner suburbs.

I know a lot of people who love near us who used to rent in Grey Lynn/Mt Eden/Ponsonby/Devonport etc but when it came to buying moved out here because of the cost.

We were actually told we could have borrowed about 200K more than we did on the mortgage and the broker was really trying to get us to take out more - it seemed insane to me, we would have been really struggling, even on two incomes which we were them. We knew we wanted kids in the next year or so so didn't take him up on it.

Having said that, I'm very happy with our location and house. The house needs a bit of stuff doing to it but we plan to be here for years so hopefully will get all that done over time. The location is fab, beach very near and the Waitakeres a very short drive away. The only drawback is that the high schools aren't the best feature round here, but we're 9 years away from that still.

Refusing to talk property porn anymore! Would like to get settled in this house before I start looking at others Grin
