Arrgh, had to start a new thread!

Yes,you can get more land in Tauranga. Well, somewhere like Omokoroa or somewhere.Wouldn't want to live much closer than that. And I woulkdn't want to live at he Mount. Lovely as it is. Too touristy, imo.
We would like enough land for a pool (eventually) maybe a sleepout and still enough for a veggie patch and garden for kids. Don't neeed acres +. Wouldn't say no though,if we could afford it! Be nice to have a few sheep or something/

I think Mum would have to fly to Tauranga. So that would be
Manchester-London,London-Singapore, Singapore-Aukland,Aukland- Tauranga
Bad.

justa howws the back? Hope physio was a help,we may have driven past you!
Your house sounds great.
My mums friend lives in Silverdale. She has about an acre with some sheep etc
Wasn't overly impressed at but didn't give it a proper look I suppose, just stopped to buy flowers for Mums friend! Always worth another look

I LOVE it, I can see long nights sitting on the patio area looking out over the city and beach, long lunches in the dining room......

meerkate · 21/10/2012 22:33

Ooh - love it!!!! I know that street, too, a bloke I worked with lived there. That house is amazing longwhite - and good value, no? EnvySmile

Gorgeous house in Dunedin longwhitecloud. Love those older houses with verandahs, big bay windows etc.

lollystix · 22/10/2012 01:38

Long white - I LOVE that house. You have to buy it and have us all round to tea.

AngryBeaver · 22/10/2012 01:45

OOps meerkate yes, sorry they are filthy!Blush Blush Grin I didn't read that far down!! Sad sad little men!

That house is fab isn't it? Not much of a garden though, so I don't think I shall buy it Wink

sorry justa I meant medical things not thing, didn't mean it to sound dismissive!
Typical that the chippy was clsoed when you'd promised! I am not a big chippy person, but have to say, the standard is far higher here than in England, don't you think?
I think we are all subjected to the head tilt at some point in our lives, aren't we?! I know I got it a lot recently. And I find myself doing it back to them, even though I am the one being pitied!!
for instance, THEM: Awwwwwwwww
ME: I know

Ooh, that pool and deck overlooking the sea in your link AB. Yes please.

vvviola · 22/10/2012 02:57

(enjoying all the PP by the way, my favourite hobby!)

We've returned from Cambridge, with many fun MIL stories to share when I see people IRL. She genuinely means well but is totally batty Grin

The country is doing strange things to me. We stopped in mitre 10 on the way home - I came out with a tomato plant, some bean and lettuce seedlings & pea seeds. Even bought gardening gloves. Please tell me that this is normal...

justa I feel your pain about the fish & chips. We wanted them yesterday but MIL told us we weren't allowed because we'd probably have them today after the long drive. I failed to see the issue Grin

WhatSheSaid · 22/10/2012 03:00

Oh the tomatoes thing is totally normal. I'd say it's virtually compulsory. I'm not sure they'd ever give you citizenship unless you could prove you'd had several years attempts at growing tomatoes and could discuss them at great length.

actual real laugh out loud Grin at the prairie red herring. i am definately of an age to have seen it, just at the time we were living in the back end of nowhere in a tiny town in africa and TV wasnt available. you wont believe how many modern day references i dont get because of my lack of early viewing years!

property pooooooooorrrrrnnnnnn! yay :-) keep 'em coming people (just realised what an awful pun that is)

cant believe the price difference between dunedin and tauranga though. wow right?

AB, that link was really funny, although my internal visions of myself as a superhero tend to be a bit less on the flesh revealing costumes and more on the super powers. like this morning, i woke up and realised that i will be spending the day (and potentially the rest of the week) as Suuuuper Sniffffffiiiing Giiiiirl. Who With The Force Of Her Sniff and Sneeze Can Power A Locomotive!

xMinerva · 22/10/2012 07:11

vvv sorry to hear about your brother, hope you get some good news soon.

We spent Sunday (the day it pissed down most of the day) at Auckland zoo. Had a really good time actually. Raincoats, wellies and umbrellas and we were well away. Still got to see all the animals but as we were pretty much the only ones there didn't have to wait or que for anyone/thing. Grin

justa sorry no advice, I'm here with Brew and ears though of you just need a chat.

xMinerva · 22/10/2012 07:14

Property porn: been spending rather too much time on Real Estate NZ.

AngryBeaver · 22/10/2012 08:32

vvviola I forgot you were in Cambridge this weekend. Good job we didn't arrange to meet, we are the sicky family at the moment. Hope your brother s on the mend?
Also, we are cultivating seedlings in yoghurt pots/marg tubs on every windowsill in the house, ready for planting in the new house. 'Tis the law doncha know?

frick yes, Im regretting that link now!! (love the cape!) and yes, you get more bang for your buck in Tauranga, most definitely!
www.trademe.co.nz/property/residential/for-sale/auction-515365533.htm
We would get this if our frigging house in the Uk would BLOODY BLOODY sell!
I know it's not really a wow house,so to speak, but I would so love it after being in rentals!!

lollystix · 22/10/2012 08:58

AB - stop it now. You're depressing me. The houses you are showing would be three times the price in my area. I feel sad Sad. But it's ok as I didn't like the country kitchen on the one before the last one.

xMinerva · 22/10/2012 09:29

That house is bloody lovely AB

AngryBeaver · 22/10/2012 09:40

frikonastick · 22/10/2012 09:57

the Otumoetai one is lovely. i have friends that live in that area and they love it. the welcome bay one is drool worthy. although, now i eye up every property and think, no double glazing! and then add in the cost of replacing all the windows...........lol!

meerkate · 22/10/2012 09:58

AB BLIMEY - I hadn't quite realised what your money could get you in Tauranga! Quite seriously, this is going to have to be factored into our Auckland/Tauranga decision - though, in truth, we'll have to go wherever the job is offered to DH - IF it ever blimmin' is! Plus some v good friends of ours emigrated to Tauranga there four years ago, so to me that's a massive plus for Tauranga. They live in Papamoa about 4 mins' walk from the beach.

Meanwhile, here in drizzly Blighty, we are moving in a month's time - into a house which would be eminently rent-outable if we did come over in July-ish. So I am determined not to get attached to it - in true Buddhist fashion Wink - though it DOES have a SAUNA as an unexpected garden-shed-stylee bonus Grin
