Belgian MNetters Meetup!

Portofino · 31/01/2011 21:57

All this talk of new movers and schools has made me remember that we must reschedule the Xmas Meetup (cancelled due to snow/extreme minus temps).

So who is interested?

When?

Where?

(Kreecher HAS to come before she moves back to Blighty as I NEED to see photos of Yum Yum Franky)

Otherwise I am easy!

What do you think?

It wasn't me that made the bunting, but my sister. I can barely sew on a button myself!

And Knitting! Eek! Years ago I started knitting some baby clothes after a happy family announcement. MC sadly ensued. Another family member announced more happy news, knitting was resurrected....another MC. At that point I decided my knitting was cursed and threw the lot away. Plenty of babies ever since.

Life is too short to knit a back gusset imho.

She really wants this bloody lamb though. I refused to send to the UK for the recommended wool (it would cost around 10 ounds plus postage). I got her the approximation on the second hand market street in Antwerp. She wasn't happy but tough tit.
I asked her what she wanted for her birthday (May),she told me that she wants the knitted lamn (no pressure then Wink and another PG tips monkey.
When we were in England in November, my sister gave her a monkey that came free with a box of teabags. I looked on ebay, and they are about a tenner. Looks like a cheap birthday for my DD.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 08/02/2011 12:45

Not sure where my ability to spell went. Obvousuly it was 10 pounds (only have a baht symbol on this keyboard) and it is a knitted lamb, not sure what a lamn is.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 08/02/2011 12:45

Bugger, I'm not making any more corrections Obviously

LongtimeinBrussels · 08/02/2011 14:16

Kreecher, I need your help. I presume from the keyboard with the baht symbol on it you were living in Thailand? My son's going out there so any advice?

instantfamily · 08/02/2011 18:41

LongtimeinBrussels · 09/02/2011 08:40

Looking forward to the nights out. I feel like I have been stuck inside for months. In the meantime is anyone keen for a coffee catch up one day?

frazzlenz · 10/02/2011 13:22

Hi and welcome instantfamily :)

Portofino · 10/02/2011 13:55

Who would be interested in a weekday lunch in Brussels one day soon?

I always aspired to be one of those ladies that lunch - instead I eat a sandwich at my desk and MN instead.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 11/02/2011 04:38

I've just sent you a message with my email addy.
DD is awake and bouncing all over due to the arrival of her BFF for a sleepover after school.

LongtimeinBrussels · 11/02/2011 08:32

I didn't know you didn't work on Wednesday morning monkey. I can do Wednesday morning coffee. I did offer to take a free French class but I think only frazzlenz is interested :(. Oh and Ruthchan but she doesn't have time at the moment.

LongtimeinBrussels · 11/02/2011 08:32

Runs off to see which metro/tram I'd have to get to get to gare du Nord (you'd think after 25 years here I'd know, wouldn't you?).

Portofino · 11/02/2011 08:51

All the thai and chinese places round St Gery do bargain lunches - 8 to 10 euros for 3 courses.

OP posts:
frazzlenz · 11/02/2011 09:52

Any day is fine with me though I have to be back at school by 12.05 on a Wednesday :)

So are we on for next week then?

monkeysbummum, always keen for a catch up. Do you have C home with you on Wed? I can always keep S home from maternelle.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 11/02/2011 11:24

Could it be chinese? I really don't like Thai food I am afraid. [fussy]

Pfaffingabout · 11/02/2011 15:48

Can do lunch on Tuesdays or Thursday only? Anybody else?? I work near Merode so can get to most places on metro 1 or 5 quite easily.

LongtimeinBrussels · 11/02/2011 20:49

You don't like Thai food and you lived there for four years Kreecher? That must have been difficult! Do you work in or can you get to Brussels for lunch?

Portofino · 11/02/2011 20:53

I was wondering that Grin
