Cheering you on for whatever today brings!!

I work very close by and would happily bring you anything you need.

There are a load of Boots nearby, a Lidl, and all the Prets and Caffè Neros your heart could desire. Even an Argos and an M&S Food further down TCR.

Thank you OP for highlighting the terrible, almost cruel, state of nhs affairs in NI.
And…thank you so much for your courage and massive effort in taking that far-off chance to set yourself on to the road to survival by travelling to London.
Another heartfelt thank you ……for continuing to write your story if and and when you possibly can. (you write so beautifully)
Not only are you helping yourself, but you are also now helping others in so many ways.

I was hoping and praying that you had a comfy, soft bed last night.

loobylou10 · 06/07/2023 07:36

I've just moved to Northern Ireland and am in healthcare, I've got to say my jaw is on the ground, it's so so behind compared to the mainland and the waitng times are just cruel. I'm not sure what the problem is as there are far more doctors and hospitals in ratio terms than in England. I'm sorry to rant on your post but good luck Pamela and I'm in Northern Ireland if you need help with anything.

Hey Pamela
i only really read the threads that come into my inbox highlights these days as I’m an old mumsnetter from the early days and my children are older now so I don’t have so many parenting questions…
The reason I found yours was because I was looking for reassurance/distraction/something in the health section as I’ve just had some bad health news of my own. I saw your thread mention Pancreatic Cancer and as this is a subject very close to me I came in here to read and obviously have learned about your situation as a result. My dad was diagnosed with PC in 2013 and it was a whirlwind of stuff in such a short space of time. He had a similar dilemma re. Chemo and he did give it a go and, I agree with you, it does kind of feel like really grabbing any lifeline available. It didn’t work out for him (bearing in mind he was a couple of decades older than you and was diagnosed very late stage) but we all feel (my mum, sister and me) that it was important for him to have that hope and opportunity so we don’t regret the decision as I’m sure you will probably feel - especially if there is some positive change as a result. Whether that be more time or even cure it can only be a good thing, right?
I’m going to follow your posts now. I do feel for you. You sound like me with the practical stuff. I am early days here but already my mind is thinking about the children and who will do all the stuff I do. It sort of helps but feels rather bleak at the same time.
I do so feel for you x

Retrievemysanity · 06/07/2023 08:08

Good luck Pamela. Having hope and options are the two most important things in this kind of situation and you have both 🤞🏻🤞🏻
